  • So you guys got the Ravens again?

  • What is your specific mindset heading into this game?

  • I was gonna be 1/4 quarter battle.

  • I was gonna be a close game.

  • It's all your stuff game and gets these guys, Um, if it's gonna defense, we know what they have on offense and way.

  • Just get ready for a physical matchup and the game is gonna come down to the fourth quarter.

  • All right, So when people think the Ravens defense, very rarely do you think that a individual player has success multiple times you've been able to be really successful through the run against this Baltimore defense.

  • How?

  • I mean, I think it's just, um, knowing that you know how good they are on defense, that you have to play my best, um, each and every snap, you know, my team a chance and, you know, you put us in the best position to win and doing.

  • Do you ever do whatever I can to help the team?

  • And you know, these guys are always been known for defense.

  • You know, as far as I've been watching the Ravens, have you guys over there that running scheme?

  • Very well, Like I said, they're physical, They're solid on all ends of their defense.

  • And, you know, like I said, we know it's gonna be physical, you know?

  • It's gonna be a battle.

  • All right, So you're playing them three times in one year, and I don't think we can call it a rivalry just yet.

  • But even the last time you guys play them, I saw on the television, you guys were barking at each other a bit.

  • We had a little bit of that logo drama.

  • What do you think we can expect to see in terms of the emotion on Sunday?

  • Oh, well, I mean, I don't think we try to get too much into that.

  • You know, I think it's just a miscommunication on that end, but and the day they gotta play us and you know we have to play them and we know it's playoff football is a different environment.

  • When, um, you keep playing or you lose, you go home.

  • So I think we all just both sides know is at stake, and there's gonna go out there and play great football, help our team win.

  • I've interviewed you a bunch of times now And every time I always ask the same questions, which is how are you not getting tired on the field?

  • So this time I'm not gonna ask you because you always just tell me you don't get tired.

  • I'm going more with how do you keep your body adorable?

  • Yeah.

  • Just try to take care of my body throughout the week.

  • Um, we got the week, Like you said, you gotta be durable toe, you know, just to carry the load.

  • And that's what I try to do.

  • Do all the things that help my body that keep me, uh, give me up and going to be ableto play every Sunday at the half of that can play and just keep doing those things that work for me, and that's what I'll continue to do.

  • The level that you're playing out right now.

  • You're doing what you did last season, which is really the second half of the season.

  • Your numbers air just through the roof.

  • What you do in the second half is what most running backs you're doing in an entire regular season.

  • When do you start thinking about this time of year?

  • As when you need to really ramp it up.

  • I don't know.

  • I don't know what it is is just always happens that way.

  • Um and you know, it's been fine and we get rolling, and I hope it continues, but honestly, I don't know what it is.

  • I don't know if it's football guys, so whatever it iss, but, I mean, we get rolling.

  • I mean, everybody is locked in, you know, way have a lot of chemistry.

  • This thing is going for you.

  • You It's even for you.

  • Everybody knows you're getting the ball.

  • It's no surprise your team completely relies on your production.

  • What does that feel like?

  • Knowing that you need to play well for the Tennessee Titans to win?

  • Yeah, I take a lot of pride in that, um and, you know, try to make sure prepare myself throughout the week, doing everything I can tow, be prepared for Sunday and go out there and be consistent.

  • Finish runs your physical, doing anything.

  • I can help my team win, you know?

  • You know, I love my team.

  • I'm a team player, so you know, that comes that comes with the territory.

  • I go out there and try to put my best, but it's just put us in the best position to win again.

  • You're a captain on this team.

  • I don't know a lot of running backs in the NFL who are captains on their team for you.

  • What do you think your responsibility has been this year this season for the Titans?

  • As a captain, I think Nothing e mean.

  • Well, it means the most to have that respect from your teammates.

  • Thio know what they think of you.

  • And you just got toe be ableto carry that load throughout the season, approach everything like a leader, have that mentality.

  • Um, no matter what's going on the scene, NFL would be highs and lows.

  • But you gotta be.

  • You know, when that sets the tone each and every day, you know their practice and then in the game be ableto make plays help with team.

  • So all the captains on this team take pride in that toe.

  • Whatever.

  • We can help the team and put us in the best position to win each and every Sunday.

  • Alright, we gotta talk Sunday.

  • Last Sunday.

  • We've got to do this your 223 yards away from hitting 2000.

  • At what point during the game do you realize?

  • I think this could happen?

  • Well, well, when we were rolling and, you know, we were, uh, gaining yards, uh, throughout the game.

  • And, you know, I was breaking all big runs and everybody doing that Great job blocking.

  • And, you know, you could feel the momentum, Uh, how much more than we had in the run game.

  • And, you know, I just focus on keeping my head down, and it happens that happened.

  • Don't don't.

  • But a lot of guys on the office of line and guys were blocking, take a lot of pride and, you know, you know, getting to a certain marking.

  • You know, those guys know about it.

  • So it was a special moment Sunday and, you know, very blessed to have teammates that I have.

  • I was guys blocking for me.

  • What was going through your mind when you hit it?

  • When?

  • When you knew you went through and you got past 2000.

  • What were you feeling?

  • Um, it's just undescribable feeling.

  • I didn't never thought it would be me, but, you know, thinking of the guys I have in front of me, the guys have blocking that.

  • You know, anything is possible with those guys.

  • Because I didn't carry yourself weekend the week out.

  • And by the way, they blocked.

  • And you see it on film each and every Sunday And, you know, to me, to me to be able to join the guys who have done it before me, it's just it's an honor.

  • And I'm very grateful.

  • Lot of guys.

  • I grew up watching a za kid and hearing about and, you know, kind of like Gary with me because I love the Army position.

  • And, you know, that's always something I wanted to do as a kid.

  • So it was very surreal.

  • Yeah.

  • Did any any of the guys from the two K fraternity reach out to you?

  • Yeah, definitely.

  • Uh, Barry Sanders.

  • Eric Dickerson tweeted at me.

  • Uh um Adrian Peterson.

  • Chris Johnson.

  • Uh, even O J.

  • Simpson.

  • Terrell Davis.

  • I've been talkto Jamal Louis ship, I think.

  • Hey, did the article or something.

  • Talking about durability.

  • But all those guys is very cool.

  • Very cool toe.

  • Be a part of that group.

  • That unique group.

  • Yeah, that's amazing to be part of that, do you remember?

  • And you probably to rack your brain a little bit, but do you remember any players hitting that 2000 mark when you were watching football growing up?

  • I remember watching uh, Jamal Jamal Lewis.

  • I've been watching.

  • I definitely seen Chris Johnson scene.

  • Adrian Peterson.

  • Um, I think the one of the ones that I really was, you know, watching and paying attention to because I was a kid.

  • So your kids, so many things going on you like video games, wanna play outside and things like that.

  • But as I got older, I was able to watch those guys get it because I know Jamal came close and agent peace and came really close.

  • Uh, breaking the single season.

  • I think Russia Record Area Dickinson had 2105 year old after after you, you know, break the 2000 yard mark.

  • What does yourself will look like after the game?

  • Like how maney text messages did you have?

  • Do you remember looking at it?

  • You have to go toe, tell my teammates days I had to go check back today.

  • She applied to everyone.

  • Let me make sure everyone was taking out.

  • I reply and say thank you appreciate them reaching out, you know, Tex and taking the time out, congratulating me, so make sure double check, triple check.

  • Make sure you have about everyone.

  • You know.

  • It's always so interesting.

  • I I know you've fumbled twice this year and I always watch you on the sideline and your body language tells you everything that you're so disappointed.

  • It doesn't matter what you do in the game.

  • That's always the one part of the game that stands out to you when we talk to you about it after it.

  • Why are you so hard on yourself?

  • I just always been that way.

  • I proud of myself, Phone being the best.

  • But what I do and I feel like vein.

  • I didn't do that.

  • Then, you know it wasn't good enough and try my cell phone anyone, the playmakers of this team.

  • And if I feel like I didn't do enough to help my team, then I'm always gonna be hard on myself.

  • I always tell people in my I'm my worst critic because you know, I beat my stuff, but I think it's not good enough, and usually it's never good enough.

  • I can always be better even on Sunday.

  • I'm still mad at that game, but that was even good enough.

  • It could have been a lot better.

  • But, you know, I think it's always room for improvement.

  • And, you know, as an athlete, you always want to get better game after game, year after year or whatever.

  • Yeah, all right, so here we are in January 2021 Tennessee Titans going to the playoffs again.

  • How do you want people to view Derrick Henry?

  • Um, as a great, great great teammate.

  • Great leader on and off the field?

  • Um, no doing you think you know from my teammates And, you know, uh, try to do anything for the for the community.

  • E think that speaks volumes of players.

  • You know, you you're great player on the field and just his great off the field.

  • And there's no better, better version of people.

  • Speaking of you, you know, a Sfar as you are as a human being, a professional athlete.

  • All right, let's talk about things I know you like to talk about.

  • We please talk about some Alabama.

  • All right?

  • We got Ohio State Alabama coming up first.

  • I got to get your prediction so give me.

  • How do you think this is gonna transpire?

  • I think it'll be a four quarter game.

  • There's gonna be a really good game.

  • There's gonna be a close game.

  • Thank you.

  • I think it would be 3.3 point three point game about us, uh, breaking national championship home.

  • But, you know, I got a lot of respect for Ohio State.

  • You know, those guys play hard play with a lot of effort to the great job last week.

  • Justin Fields.

  • I think he you know, a lot of chatter was about him.

  • How he struggled against Northwestern that came out lights out to, like, five or six touchdowns and running back.

  • He's playing playing very well.

  • The difference.

  • Take a lot of effort and, you know, way know what type of point we're playing.

  • I think our guys that we have are good enough.

  • Toe gets the W, but I played makers.

  • Quarterback running back receivers.

  • Defense was passed out of football was found after the last time you played the Ravens I saw on the broadcast.

  • Actually, you and Dobbins talking and you look like you guys had a pretty good relationship there.

  • Are you guys pretty close.

  • Or is that just like a mutual respect?

  • A mutual respect?

  • Um, he's ah, young RB.

  • And you are RBS, right?

  • If you got to stick together, you know, they say we devalued, so, you know, just trying.

  • Have support for for for one another, man.

  • Keep going, keep falling out and keep pumping his team and try to do that.

  • All the RVs that I play against Talk to him.

  • Reach out.

  • Oh, interesting.

  • Keep doing that thing, man.

  • They can't.

  • They can't Can't break us down.

  • You're so friendly.

  • But at the same time, he went to Ohio State here.

  • So I have to ask you then, does Alabama or Ohio State produced better talent with school brings out the better running backs.

  • Well, I mean, I think I think I speak for yourself.

  • I mean, we got two running backs in the Probo me and Josh Jacobs.

  • We have King and Drake starting for the Arizona Cardinals.

  • Yeah, Damon Harris started for the New England Patriots.

  • We have t J Yeldon playing for the Buffalo Bills.

  • You have Mark Ingram.

  • That's fine for the Baltimore Ravens.

  • And then both Scarborough before he got hurt.

  • he was playing with Seattle Seahawks, and I know that I owe state Have Zeke have Dobyns, man.

  • I'm not trying to disrespect Ohio State, but I mean, that's e really No, that's really like playing the start right now.

  • I like your strategy.

  • You just listed the greatness.

  • So we just hear it and think, Well, it's pretty unfair.

  • It seems like Alabama produces the best running back, so I'll just say it for you that you go Obama on that one.

  • Um, all right, so during the season, you guys were playing the bills.

  • You stiff arm, Josh Norman.

  • It without a doubt becomes a top social media moment in the NFL.

  • It has to be the top one this season.

  • Why do you think so many people loved retweeting it and commenting on it?

  • What is it about it?

  • I don't know.

  • I just think probably this is, by the way, I still farm.

  • And how you felt that's part of the the most text.

  • So everything I've ever gotten on my phone from just that one is different.

  • And usually, you know, DB usually try to go low.

  • And he stayed high.

  • And, you know, I live with stiff arm and he kind of fell back in in the Nets undefeated.

  • So when they get ahold of something is gonna be everywhere they go on, take it wherever, because you know, the ending, that they always have something on there that that's funny, hilarious.

  • And that's that's crazy.

  • If you were a defender, how would you defend you?

  • E.

  • I mean DBS.

  • I mean, of course.

  • I mean, they usually go low.

  • I'm a tall guy, have long legs.

  • So not 10 for DBS usually go low, and sometimes they stay high.

  • Try toe, try to go ahead up.
