  • Georgia's top election official on Monday said the White House had pushed him against his better judgment to take a call from President Donald Trump over the weekend in which Trump pressured him to quote find enough votes to overturn his November election loss there.

  • Raffles Burger confirmed to ABC that the lone Democrat on Georgia's election board had asked him to investigate whether Trump violated state law that prohibits solicitation to commit election fraud.

  • In a letter to Raffles Burger seen by Reuters, the official wrote.

  • Quote To say that I am troubled by President Trump's attempt to manipulate the votes of Georgians would be an understatement.

  • In recorded excerpts of the hour long call, first published by The Washington Post, Trump alternately flatters, begs and threatens Raffles Burger with vague criminal consequences in attempt to undo his loss in Georgia to Democratic President elect Joe Biden.

  • The call was slammed by members of Trump's own party, including Congresswoman Liz Cheney, who said it was quote deeply troubling and representative Adam Kinzinger, who called it quote disgusting.

  • It's released comes as about a dozen Trump allies plan to challenge Biden's victory in Congress on Wednesday.

  • Ah, move, Senator Tom Cotton, a staunch conservative said was outside of Congress's power and would quote established unwise precedence.

  • Several moderate Republicans have also joined Democrats in criticizing the plan to vote against the certification of Biden's win, which is led by Senators Ted Cruz and Josh Holly.

  • It was not immediately clear if the release of Trump's call with Raffles Burger could impact their maneuverings.

  • But conservative Senator Marsha Blackburn, who was among those planning to object to Biden's win, told Fox News on Monday quote This call was not a helpful call.
