  • And what a remarkable performance, one that will be etched in Ohio State and Sugar Bowl War forever, mostly because of the big play.

  • On passes of 30 yards, Um, or Downfield Fields hit 80% against Clemson.

  • All of the quarterbacks, 26% Venables have been able to stop all of that, but the percentage that he put up against that Brent Venables defense most such completions that the Tigers have allowed under their standout defensive coordinator.

  • And as a result, Ohio State rolls into the national championship game and they're able to rewrite the ending against Clemson.

  • They took Clemson behind the wood shit and made them say, Uncle, I mean that Louder.

  • Personal?

  • Yeah, I'm just dominating performance from top to bottom from the beginning to the end of the game.

  • 49 points.

  • I mean, are you kidding me?

  • What a great game.

  • Bye bye, House day, I think Ryan Day.

  • You know, you attacked the middle.

  • The defense.

  • Nolan Turner.

  • Clemson's safety was out for the first half because of targeting the A C A C championship game.

  • He took advantage of that trey sermon, got going, Chris alive.

  • Put up some big numbers I mean, they were just hitting on all cylinders.

  • The only thing I want to know is this who they are, or is that a one off?

  • Because we hadn't seen that the whole year.

  • Now you look at Alabama.

  • That's who they are.

  • That's their M o.

  • They gave Alabama's defense guys Ah lot to prepare for tight ends wide.

  • I was running backs and a dual threat quarterback.

  • And when when you have ah, whole year to stew on something, you all know his athletes.

  • It pisses you off.

  • It takes you off everything.

  • You do everything in their weight room, by the way, said 29 23.

  • So Ohio State everything was put into this game.

  • This basket.

  • Dubow gave some extra fuel to the fire list, and I don't think that was the difference in the game.

  • I think Ohio State was clearly better, but this Ohio State team that showed up what we knew they had weapons.

  • We knew fields was good.

  • We knew the defense had potential, but they haven't put it all together and played a great game like this and they picked the best time.

  • But the revenge factor.

  • Sanchez, I mean this.

  • This was a big deal to them, and they, by the way, they enjoyed it like they should have.

  • Absolutely.

  • And they took this thing personal.

  • I think that's the theme taking, taking away from the game.

  • But if you notice when they signaled plays in this, this was a big deal coming into the game.

  • These signals, right?

  • They got up the line of scrimmage fast.

  • They did the muddle huddle a couple times and they hit him quick, early and often with these deep strikes down the field.

  • And then the other thing I really saw from Justin Fields, everybody was down on him.

  • Everybody is ready to hit the panic button, and he comes out with this gritty performance.

  • He was forced to play quarterback when he got hurt.

  • He had checked the ball down a couple times, and it forced him to make great decisions underneath.

  • Other than one throw in the back of the end zone, he was on fire.

  • Yeah, you see, Fields, This is a guy who came in to the season, especially once the Big 10 decided to play and people were wondering, OK, could he overtake Trevor Lawrence for the number one overall quarterback spot may be the number one overall pick in the draft.

  • As you mentioned, he had been doubted.

  • Boy, did he answer.

  • In this game against Clemson, I had a coach text me last night during the game, he said Clemson can't get lined up because they're waiting on the signals just a few points because they didn't necessarily get lined up right.

  • And as a result of Chris Phallic is with us this morning up bright and early, bear looking good, ready to do something with the board.

  • But before we get to that, what did you think about what you saw from the Bucks?

  • Like two things, it almost looked like what Ohio State did during the regular season in those six games was kind of like OK, we could give, like, a show a little bit, give, like a B performance, knowing that we're gonna be in the playoffs and then just open it up and do that, and I think is, well, the way the things that went on with the Big 10 this year canceling the season, coming back to play this season, making the rule about the six of six games with the title game not liking the result in Ohio State wasn't gonna be about getting changing the rule.

  • I think like a lot of people forgot, the state was really good, and maybe they were kind of like dismissed.

  • And maybe people held that against Ohio State.

  • I think I think what happened in the conference maybe worked against Ohio State in terms of a narrative like all because that happened didn't mean that they didn't deserve that.

  • They weren't really good.

  • I think that all Fed into that way saw the Ohio State I think we all expect in the beginning of your last.

  • You know, it's a point that I've tried to make a lot when we talk about playoff selection is that it is a perfectly reasonable position to take to say the six games is not enough.

  • It's not enough of a proving ground.

  • But performance, once you are selected, has nothing to do with that.

  • I mean, what you're what you're here now.

  • There could be some of the things about whether you're not so beat up, whether you haven't gotten a continuity.

  • All of those things are superfluous.

  • Once you get into the tournament.

  • It's how you perform.

  • I don't know what superfluous means.

  • E Talk about a break.

  • But not only that.

  • They're things that don't really matter there, on top of everything else.

  • Is that the purpose?
