  • on vacation.

  • I need to step out and say this.

  • I was totally wrong about Dwayne Haskins thinking the Giants were foolish to pass him up in favor of Daniel Jones.

  • I look like a damn fool.

  • You know how bad you have to be as a player and a person to be a first round pick and still get released inside of two years.

  • This has bad attitude written all over it.

  • Not being mature enough, not working hard enough.

  • Why else would Washington let him go right now?

  • Inside of two years, Haskins entire football career is now officially in grave jeopardy.

  • Marcus.

  • Should any team trust Haskins as a starting quarterback?

  • No, they shouldn't based on what we just watch, but they should.

  • I think a team or a few teams should allow him to rebuild that trust like that's like asking your significant other after you cheated.

  • Trust me.

  • No, you gotta earn it back if if they take you back.

  • And that's the conversation that we're having.

  • Like, will a team take Dwayne Haskins back in the NFL?

  • There's a big indictment.

  • Y'all like the concern for me is this, like the Washington football team is about to play for a play in playoff game, and they decided to release and waved Dwayne Haskins in the midst of that.

  • So one they didn't feel like he was a better option at quarterback on the field and the off the field stuff sped up the process of letting him go from the football team I and and look, I've seen Ah, lot of adults in this country older than Dwayne Haskins.

  • Be dumb as hell on a lot of things.

  • In a lot of other areas of life, I'm not gonna get into it.

  • So a 23 year old with talent, opportunity for redemption, I believe, should have another chance.

  • An opportunity to play in this league.

  • He has to learn from those things.

  • The bottom line about this league is this, though, and I'm going Thio forever.

  • Say it because this is the truth.

  • If Dwayne Haskins was balling, we wouldn't be talking about this.

  • This is about Dwayne Haskins and how he's played.

  • Yes, he had the stuff happened off the field, but if it was chase Young, he'd be playing Sunday.

  • He'll be playing in the play in game for the Washington football team.

  • If it was anybody, if it was Josh Allen, if it was anybody else having a lot of success, they'll be playing in this game.

  • So, yes, he has to go earn trust.

  • But based on what we've seen right now, no team should trust him at this point.

  • Marcus is 100% right about the fact that if Dwayne Haskins was a good quarterback, heck, if he was an average quarterback based on his draft status, he would still be on that football team.

  • But he wasn't.

  • He was not only below average, he was one of the worst quarterbacks in the NFL this year.

  • Now, as to the question of whether or not a team can trust him going forward or should take a flyer on him next season, it really comes down to both the UN and off the field factors off the field.

  • That's up to Dwayne Haskins.

  • I mean, there are plenty of guys in this league in any field who have done far worse things on.

  • Dave got second chances.

  • He needs to show that he deserves that trust.

  • It's up to him.

  • I have no idea if you could turn that around.

  • I know if he acts the way he report, he has been acting, frankly with the covert stuff or what we've heard from inside locker room.

  • Um, he won't be on NFL team now on the field.

  • It's a little more interesting.

  • He was a top prospect because of what he did at Ohio State.

  • Great arm, accurate on the underneath stuff.

  • But there were questions.

  • You know, we're only talking about really one year of production.

  • Three offense.

  • There was fairly simplistic, didn't play super well under pressure gets to the NFL.

  • He was good at the end of his first season, but this year he was awful.

  • I mean, he had the lowest completion percentage throwing down field of any quarterback in this league.

  • He has to play better than that to deserve a shot.

  • I'm not talking about a starting job.

  • I mean, a shot at a quarterback competition or as a backup.

  • I do think because of the pedigree because of what he showed in college and in his rookie season, he will get that shot.

  • But I don't know if it means he's going to keep it.

  • Yeah, I mean, he definitely deserves a shot.

  • I think it's absurd on I understand where everyone is coming from.

  • Like including Stephen A.

  • Like he has put his career in jeopardy.

  • I think that's absurd, that his career is in jeopardy, that the idea that he won't get another chance, that is absolutely outrageous.

  • He should get another chance somewhere.

  • His transgressions are unacceptable.

  • Understand that.

  • That's why Washington moved on from him.

  • But let's not pretend like there's not a long history of first round picks who are of all races.

  • Frankly, because a lot has been made of this as a racial.

  • The racial component of this has been, uh, kind of brought to the forefront.

  • There have been plenty of players that have entered this league that have been immature and had issues in the first round, and those guys always get another chance regularly.

  • They get another chance if the Wayne Haskins doesn't get another chance somewhere else.

  • I'd be very shocked and upset, frankly, and I'm not a Dwayne Haskins.

  • Apologists by any stretch like what he's done has been inappropriate.

  • But I think that into kind of revisit the racial part of this conversation has come up quite a bit.

  • And what scares me and frustrates me, frankly, is some people making this into a conversation about all black players or many black players or black players in general, in the NFL or black quarterbacks in general and NFL?

  • I think it is fair to say to Dwayne Haskins that the behavior that you exhibit it impacts the way people look at black quarterbacks.

  • That's fair because it's true.

  • It's not right.

  • I think the criticism in that case should be on the decision makers who allow Dwayne Haskins behavior to kind of paint a picture of other people who are coming out.

  • The criticism shouldn't be on Dwayne Haskins necessarily for dropping the ball.

  • And we certainly should not perpetuates um, false narrative that there is a raft of immature black players in NFL.

  • There are plenty of immature players in NFL.

  • I don't think you could discriminated by race.

  • Necessarily.

  • It is all over the place in the league, the black quarterbacks in the white cortex, and I just find it so upsetting.

  • Frankly, in the era where we have Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson like we could go on and on of plenty of mature black quarterbacks that are showing that they can play and obviously that everyone else who has been keeping them out of the league were wrong.

  • I find it irresponsible to talk about it as if it is a rash of issues within the players in the black community in the NFL.

  • That, to me is frustrating and disappointing.

  • To perpetuate a narrative and to give, frankly, give the people who who would be who would allow these racist biases, that commentary into their thought process and decision making to give them the backing to make these support.

  • To make these decisions frankly frustrates me.
