  • all right.

  • Time now to get to the weekly touchscreen segment and an interesting one right now, as we're just two weeks away Way just gonna gloss over the fact that you've got fancy graphics now, like touch screen time on that night, budgets increasing a little bit as the weeks move forward here.

  • Yeah, we're getting you know, we're get a little more sophisticated by the week.

  • Our topic du jour is whether quarterbacks are going to stay or go.

  • We have eight names and again, two weeks away from the start of the off season for at least 18 of the NFL teams.

  • We'll go around the around the horn, their All star Dan and then fits for each one of these.

  • I'm gonna start with Cam Newton and I'm gonna say go.

  • But the truth is, I have no idea in part because first of all, if Cam walks away, Patriots, obviously like Jared said, it is not the answer.

  • Long term, they have no answer.

  • Now that being said, economics are probably going to drive the Patriots motivation to retain Cam Newton if he wants a $25 million per year contract because it will be the first to tell you quarterbacks don't make like 8 to $10 million per season.

  • That value does not exist.

  • Then I don't think it's a worthwhile multi year investment.

  • $25 million a year franchise tax, including to me.

  • I think Cam Newton goes, I do not have a great deal on this one.

  • Dan Graziano.

  • I'll give you Carson Wentz e think Carson Wentz stays, and I know obviously the noise we've heard over the weekend makes it sound like it's ugly there.

  • And I believe it is ugly there.

  • But off season can sometimes help fix these things, and quite frankly, the contract is impossible to cut and I think probably close to impossible to trade.

  • I mean, if you're taking him on your taking on a $25 million a year guy who is definitely not playing like one this year, I think I think they keep him and they try to get him fixed.

  • And if they have toe, if it's Jalen hurts next year and they gotta move on from Carson Wentz down the line.

  • You make that decision, but I think he's their encampment.

  • I think that's a fascinating one.

  • I think it's a story that will not be story.

  • It's one of the stories of the off season as we know there's been a lot of noise already and there will surely be going forward and move fits.

  • Let's move forward to you and Mr Basically who?

  • How does fifth year option decline?

  • He's played well of late.

  • Well, from the context of how he has performed previously, stay or go.

  • I think he goes on this has a little bit to do with you Said they already declined the option financially.

  • They're in the folds so realistically that this marriage just isn't working.

  • And if you're Mitchell Robiskie, you've already seen the organization give up on you.

  • So you're better off going somewhere else and seeing if you could rehab your image and maybe get some sort of a concept of what it's like to be a professional in a different organization.

  • This has been a failure from the get go.

  • I don't think you can fix it with that Number two overall pick that they're always gonna have assigned to his name.

  • So he goes somewhere else and trying to get a fresh start.

  • Okay, Interesting.

  • and I don't know if the opportunity is there for them, for him to be a starter somewhere.

  • But maybe he's a guy that teams view as a capable backup.

  • Someone like a Jamie's thing.

  • He goes somewhere, maybe sits behind somebody and tries to work his way.

  • And I was actually gonna say mixed.

  • Like Marcus Mariota, who, of course, ties into the player willing to discuss next.

  • It's there.

  • A car I'm gonna say stays in Las Vegas, and I understand that the guaranteed money is now over in his contract, and he's very cut double, so to speak.

  • And I guess there is some allure in a trade.

  • E.

  • Think about opportunity.

  • Cost right.

  • Marcus Mariota couldn't make his way past the third string for a while at the Rangers this season doesn't lead me to believe that if they move on from Derek Carr, Mariota is the next man up, even if he does play well, perhaps in two final starts.

  • I think Derek Carr, though, is one of those players That, like perfectly solid question for the Raiders is.

  • Is there a player available like do they have the means, whether it's in free agency or in the draft and probably not in the draft.

  • Tow land.

  • A player that is a potential franchise signal caller.

  • We'll see.

  • But I think he stays.

  • Dan have a Dak Prescott.

  • I think that Prescott stays.

  • I think they'll franchise them while they continue to work on a deal.

  • E thought they'd get a deal done this past off season.

  • They didn't.

  • I think their intention, the Cowboys intention, is to keep him and have him be there long term.

  • Answer.

  • A quarterback.

  • They've just gotta work out the details of the deal.

  • Maybe the fact that he's coming off injury helps its value.

  • Seems like it's actually gone up.

  • Yeah, how bad the rest of the quarterback play has been there in Dallas.

  • Alright.

  • Fits Jamis Winston.

  • Sort of interesting one.

  • After signing a one year bet on the culture deal in New Orleans, could he be like Teddy, Bridgewater and Kachin elsewhere this offseason?

  • The problem is, he hasn't had the opportunity to really show any growth, so I think he stays because what opportunity has he had to rehab his image?

  • We said it earlier.

  • Sometimes you got to go somewhere else.

  • Well, we don't know what the same they're gonna be doing for the future quarterback, It might be Taysom Hill.

  • It might not be tasting Bill, but if you're Jamie's Attn.

  • Least you have some comfort in that system.

  • Comfort in that offense that comes having another year to get more familiar with.

  • It gives him or opportunity to grow so that when he does get his time to shine, he can actually shine.

  • Because if he steps on the field looks bad, it's done.

  • So I think you stay safe here and stays where he is for another year.

  • Okay, Interesting.

  • Yeah, I have no redone it, obviously as well.

  • And it could be really interesting if you're Breeze retires because then all of a sudden you're competing with Taysom Hill on Lee for the starting job.

  • I think the most fascinating name on this list, Matthew Stafford and I'm gonna say go.

  • Here's the reason why the Lions obviously have no head coach.

  • No GM right now, least a permanent head coaching whoever takes over that job.

  • The first decision, Actually, it might need to be made before the person is even hired.

  • What's the plan for Matthew Staff and I think.

  • Generally speaking, the first moved in.

  • The new GM wants to make its not franchise altering of this magnitude.

  • Mathis effort is beloved.

  • He's incredibly, incredibly important to the recent history of the Detroit Lions.

  • He's been great to the question is what a new GM se I can be the one that can put the right ingredients around Matthew Stafford, or what ownership say, Hey, you know what we feel like.

  • We've either come close to reaching the ceiling or we don't believe the ceiling is high enough as currently constructed with the other pieces around.

  • That sort of running it back with Matthew Stafford another few years is the best plan of action.

  • I think Matthew Stafford would be incredibly desirable for other teams who feel like they're close.

  • Like if the Raiders haven't moved on from Derek Carr and Matthew Stafford was available, that would be a player that make a ton of sense for them.

  • The New England Patriots moved on from Cam Newton.

  • That could be a very logical e.

  • Just a logical, sensible.

  • Okay, what if the Cowboys can't sign that great opportunity?

  • Go back home for Matthew Stafford?

  • He's a scut.

  • I just think that the Lions may say to themselves, Maybe this is time for us to go back to the bottom to make our way back.

  • I love all of this.

  • I'll quickly say this.

  • The conspiracy theory here, not the conspiracy, putting the dots together.

  • So Doc decides the Cowboys can't work it out.

  • Doc ends up.

  • Follow me Here, Doc ends up with the Raiders.

  • They pay all the money, they trade the draft picks.

  • Dak ends up with the Raiders.

  • Stafford ends up with the Cowboys.

  • Car ends up with the Lions.

  • We have all of those three teams shifting it.

  • Each of those three fan bases will feel like they've got what they needed for.

  • Right now, my mind is a pretzel.

  • Not everything is not.

  • Everything is about the Raiders.

  • Oh, just speak for yourself.

  • Good, sir.

  • Sorry.

  • It's not all right.

  • Grab last one here.

  • And this is simple.

  • It's not a matter of whether he stays or goes.

  • Trevor Lawrence O.

  • But the question is, where does he?

  • Oh, well, whoever takes him, right.

  • I mean, you don't think like it's been.

  • We're talking about Eli Manning every time.

  • About 16 years since the quarterback has pulled this right.

  • Unless it's a different time, right?

  • Exactly So way heard this with Joe Burrow last year.

  • It didn't happen.

  • Look, number being the number one pick is really cool, and and they really wanted these guys.

  • So I don't think it's gonna be a situation where, Oh, I don't wanna go to Jacksonville or I don't want to go to the Jets.

  • Interesting to see who's coaching those teams.

  • But those teams gonna be hiring coaches with this in mind.

  • Think about all the unique circumstances surrounding Eli.

  • Like his dad, well known at like.

  • This is one of the first families of football players in the league.

  • Like Trevor Lawrence is incredible, and he may be every bit the prospect we've seen of any player in the past 15 years.

  • But he doesn't right now.

  • There's nothing that's led me to believe it's that, like he's prepared to get heavy handed in this process.

  • Trevor Lawrence is gonna be the first overall pick, but I will give Jets fans a little bit of hope here, right?

  • I just did a quick Google search and every site has their own version of it, but I did the top quarterbacks in 2020 so far.

  • And let's not argue about the schematics.

  • Follow my point here, though.

  • They've got Patrick Mahomes at number one.

  • Not first overall.

  • Aaron Rodgers.

  • It, too.

  • Not first overall.

  • Russell Wilson and three notice a trend.

  • Not first overall.

  • Josh Allen at four.

  • Not first overall.

  • DeShaun Watson.

  • Five.

  • Ryan Tannehill it.

  • Six.

  • Tom Brady at seven.

  • You gotta get to Kyler Murray at eight and we still don't know the book on him.

  • Breeze after that car After that, I mean, you could go up and down the list.

  • We're talking about the first overall pick like it's gonna be suddenly.

  • Ah, life changing thing.

  • Let's be real.

  • The best quarterbacks in the NFL this year.

  • We're not first overall picks.

  • E.

  • Was still taking me like if I had the one pick, I would take my chances that he could turn out there.

  • Maybe get up that list a little bit.
