  • But today we're just gonna be eating a bunch of Japanese Christmas food and talking about Japanese Christmas and also Christmas in our home countries and everything.

  • Just having a nice chat getting into the holiday season.

  • Traditional Japanese, KFC.

  • Big old, honestly, A traditional Christmas.

  • Yeah, Straight from the Edo period.

  • No, but there's a legit that, like Japan, for some reason, really pushes KFC on Christmas.

  • Giving gifts isn't really like a thing, you know, like drinking with friends, either.

  • Yeah, like it's more viewed as, like, a romance holiday.

  • Kind of like a valid Yeah, because people will reserve restaurants and then go there like maybe even a hotel.

  • E.

  • I'm too used to Valentine's Day being like, not so even.

  • Okay, I see people are like bordering it.

  • Two weeks deodorant, e Charlotte.

  • Like she couldn't eat the ham station here.

  • She is like, What does it mean?

  • I got ideas.

  • Meatballs, plant balls.

  • Really good.

  • I just have them for the first time this weekend.

  • I'm anymore.

  • E feel like New Year's here is more like what we feel is Christmas.

  • New Year's here is really about family and being back together and having a big meal.

  • Yeah, yeah, that's kind of like the mail you share with everyone.

  • It's like really high quality food, but this is just like greasy chicken.

  • So get New Year's in Japan is very holy.

  • Yeah, you go to like the shrine at midnight and pray you guys usually go to the shrine at midnight.

  • Done that a few times.

  • Yeah, but it's very crowded coal mine for a very long time, and it's always freezing.

  • It is fun, though.

  • It's definitely a cool experience if you have a chance to do it.

  • So I keep taking giant mouthfuls of chicken and then I can't talk for so hungry, hungry, hungry.

  • We also have shortcake, which is another Yeah, Japan traditional Christmas cake of Japan, and they're so expensive when you buy like a whole.

  • Have you guys bought like, ordered of short Yeah, waiting list for a small one.

  • Not that e recommend if you're in Japan using that money to buy your own ingredients in making a it's good if you haven't of E like this one.

  • E think at least Japan, like, makes it very aesthetic.

  • It looks good, but I'm not really cute.

  • Not really that big into strawberry shortcake.

  • Joey's e think the strawberries are really expensive, so it's kind of like a fancy thing, you know?

  • Why is that why you're strawberry are actually now, why is all freakin Japan so expensive?

  • Just put a lot of candor throwing it.

  • You go visit a fruit farm and you see, like if they're growing apples, they individually wrapped each apple on the tree so that it doesn't get damaged.

  • Yeah, they put a lot of effort way, just enjoying you normally like No, I never eat very rarely e.

  • But it's really expensive in Japan is, and I feel like the quality isn't good because it is back in North America.

  • E don't know.

  • This is one of the first few times I've had it, but it was like 30 or $40 for, like, what, $30 which I don't know.

  • I guess overseas.

  • It would definitely be a lot for eight.

  • Really chicken to small fries.

  • It was like $40.

  • 1 thing that Japan does really well at Christmas is light displays elimination.

  • That's my favorite thing about Christmas years.

  • They put in so much.

  • Yeah, that's so true.

  • Normal streets.

  • I just like, really like Well, yeah.

  • We're supposed to go to an illumination that was like Pokemon team, but I think like it really worked out.

  • I still wanna goto one now, but even if you can't go somewhere, just go downtown Tokyo.

  • They say Santa has come for us a little bit ominous on He's like saying like, you know, I'm kind of worried about like a subliminal message like Oh, God, going back to the whole cakes thing In Japan, you keep up with a lot of upcoming like like events or, like even dishes or cafes that come out.

  • And there's so many right now on webs, on job websites for Christmas cakes and your pre order them, like the really nice ones on day ship it to you near Christmas Eve.

  • Christmas Day.

  • I've, like, really curious about the convenience.

  • Stolen?

  • Yeah, they have every year, and they have a really big selection.

  • I've never gotten e market like everywhere.

  • Doing e had a 7 11 Christmas cake e 40 bucks for a 7.

  • We ordered it when I picked it up.

  • And how big was it?

  • Can't have a small, but I couldn't finish it because it was like, you have to eat it within a day.

  • Yeah, but also, like in Japan, is common toe work on Christmas E.

  • Remember having to go to university on Christmas?

  • It was just so stupid.

  • I was so angry.

  • What did you guys do for Christmas last year?

  • I was sick.

  • This is definitely interesting with Christmas because, you know, normally would be good to spend time with friends and, well, my family, I often go back home.

  • This will be my first time spending it by myself.

  • Yeah, This is my first Christmas in Japan.

  • I always go back for Christmas.

  • Usually I don't watch it been like this year.

  • This year I'll just be a home.

  • Yeah, we have, like, a very different vibe.

  • Like a barbecue right now.

  • I want a real treat a tree, But it would be really dry and like e like snow Angels.

  • I've spent a lot of members.

  • There was one Christmas where it was just It was like a 40 degree Christmas, and we just spent the whole day inside a way.

  • Only had one room with our con.

  • So we're just like in that one room, because it was so hot outside.

  • I'd love to experience a white Christmas, though.

  • I've done It's nice.

  • It's cold enough for snow already.

  • Oh, yeah, the desert.

  • So Michelle can eat the strawberry showcase because it's Oh, wow.

  • I didn't realize we're all finished.

  • What was, like the best Christmas president like you've ever received the best Christmas present.

  • I remember getting away when I was, like, Wait on playing like Twilight Princess.

  • Yeah, Wade always get, like either a new a new console or a new game like, Yeah, it wasn't a new console every year, but like, if there was a big console, we get, like a Nintendo, and then we'd just spend the rest of the day just playing games just so long.

  • Yeah, I would go to my friend's house on display.

  • Yeah, this'll was not the best Christmas present, but I remember it very well.

  • My grandma got me and my sister these tiny little robotic animals that would sing, they had, like, little red eyes and they would like Do you like the right hand?

  • They'd be like, Did you do e o e you hold down the top if you want to turn it up and then like a full time imagining what e a robot like five seconds e don't really like strawberry shortcake.

  • So I think I got, like, a chestnut e really common in orderto find chestnut play with.

  • Yeah, I never cared about chestnut things at all until I came to Japan.

  • E Charlotte, What was your favorite like Christmas present?

  • My parents gave me a book that was, like, how to take care of your kitten.

  • I was like, What the hell?

  • You guys don't have a kid e, like, didn't get it, And then they're like then they brought out a box with mine Was my first phone.

  • No, not even in the Nokia I love, you know?

  • Yeah.

  • Yeah, I remember.

  • Like it was like, 99 cents to get a ring tone.

  • Oh, yeah, And I got, like, the ring tone version.

  • You know, e guess for copyright reasons you couldn't actually get the rial song eso you would get like a jingle version of it.

  • And I got, like, dance, dance.

  • But it was like family.

  • Uh huh.

  • A playing ring tones is half the fun with those old phones.

  • You couldn't no shit like places.

  • Yeah, Snake was, like, the only thing.

  • And now three iPhones.

  • Holy crap.

  • Have you guys ever taken a photo with Santa in Japan?

  • I've seen.

  • Yeah, he gets dressed up again because KFC is so big in Japan.

  • I asked like some Japanese friends, and I was like, Did you have Christmas?

  • And they're like, Yeah, but they got, like, 11 That one present.

  • Lucky.

  • Yeah.

  • So their families still gave them?

  • Yeah.

  • The family e think it's a blood thing.

  • Yeah, but then it's like, you just get on with your e.

  • Shouldn't like a whole bunch of Christmas letters to my friends and family in the U.

  • Yeah, I mean, they're all sent now.

  • I sent them, like, three or four days ago, and they told us that the post office that there's a chance that they might not get it till January.

  • Wow.

  • I just felt this table.

  • And also there's a chip chip in the table.

  • Oh, my gosh.

  • I know, like is those of you haven't seen giving a lot of contacts?
