  • way are back on.

  • Get up in the top.

  • Seven teams in the college football playoff rankings remained unchanged last night.

  • Obama, Notre Dame, Clemson, Ohio State remained the top four.

  • Bama is stronger than ever at number one after blowing out Auburn by 29 points in the Iron Bowl without Nick Saban, so they couldn't look any better.

  • Take a look at the top six here.

  • Texas A and M in Florida are the first to out all six teams take on unranked opponents in their next games.

  • Five of those are on the road, so we'll see if anything happens.

  • And let me bring Heather and Paul back into the conversation with Desmond, and I think, where we left off when we were talking earlier this morning.

  • How there is Ohio State and their chances of playing this weekend.

  • Where are we now with Ohio State, who so desperately need to get another game in?

  • Well, it still remains in flux, but they are practicing again today.

  • What we don't know in Ohio State sites.

  • Privacy reasons for this is how many players are impacted by this.

  • Remember in the Big 10, if a player tests positive they're out for at least 21 days.

  • So even if Ohio State can play against Michigan State, what do they look like?

  • The one thing we do know is we were told that a position group was not decimated by this so way.

  • Don't know what.

  • What we do know is that the Illinois game was canceled at about 10 30 Eastern on last Friday night.

  • So until we know for sure that they're getting on that plane, this'll game remains a question.

  • So I was listening as we were getting ready to do the segment.

  • I overheard this conversation, Desmond, when you had some questions.

  • What are your thoughts on this?

  • As far as how this is and should be handled well, the question that needs to be answered is how many players were positive that they would cancel the Illinois game.

  • And how are they able to be in a position now to play against Michigan State?

  • If the protocol in the Big 10 is that once you test positive, you have to wait.

  • You have to quarantine for 21 days.

  • So if those same players were positive a week ago and they had to cancel the Illinois game.

  • Now, how are they in a position now, a week later that they can practice and look forward to playing Michigan State if they're if they're following the Big 10 protocol of a 21 day quarantine?

  • I wouldn't be surprised.

  • Guys, just wrap your mind around this.

  • A couple of weeks ago, Clemson flew the Tallahassee and Mike Norval said, Well, Mike novels, medical staff got with Clemson's medical staff and eventually Mike Norval and Florida State said, Yeah, we're not comfortable with this positive test.

  • You guys have you guys get on the plane and go back home.

  • I wouldn't be surprised now if Ohio State gets on the plane, they get to East Lansing and because of the number of positive test they had a week ago, if Michigan State's medical staff is not comfortable with their team going out there playing this game because of the unknown that we're trying to figure out with the positive test and then Mel Tucker and that group say, Yeah, you guys may want to go back to Columbus because we're not comfortable playing this game, I would be curious to see how that's going to play out if Ohio State keeps practicing this week and they get on the plane and they go to East Lansing on Friday, All right, so we'll see how that goes.

  • In the meantime, Paul, I want to come back to you because we didn't get a chance to dive into.

  • This is much in the first hour.

  • Those are the protocols.

  • We opened the show today by talking about how the A.

  • C C just completely changed their scheduling yesterday based upon the best and most advantageous circumstances for their best teams.

  • And you said something aloud here.

  • You said, I'm looking at the Big 10 when they're commissioner with this.

  • I'd love you to pick up that thought and run with it.

  • Well, he has so much pressure on him right now.

  • We're talking about Kevin Warren because of the remember they put off the season on August 11th.

  • They came back much later than everyone else other than the Pac 12.

  • So the onus is on them right now to adjust, and they have to figure out a way to get Ohio State playing for the Big 10 championship.

  • That's going to be critical for the Buckeyes to get into the playoff.

  • There's a very strong possibility right now the Ohio State.

  • This is one more game.

  • You're going to end up getting the A C C with two teams and the SEC with two teams, and the Buckeyes are going to be done, whether they whether they get to the next game or not, and that remember another thing and this could be disputed.

  • But I'm going to say that the Big 10 came back for one reason.

  • To support Ohio State's chances of winning the national championship.

  • And that hangs in the balance right now.

  • Greening Heather.

  • What, if anything, could they dio they?

  • They initially made a rule that you have to play six games to qualify for the Big 10 championship game.

  • In theory, you could change that if you wanted to.

  • You could thes They're not rules that have been in place.

  • As Paul said yesterday for 200 years, they've just made this up two months ago.

  • So Heather, they could change this if they want to.

  • What could they dio?

  • Yes, it could, but we have to remember who made the decision.

  • It wasn't Kevin born.

  • It was the 14 athletic directors in conjunction with head coaches and in collaboration with the Big 10 championship administrators.

  • So the athletic directors would have to say, We need to change this.

  • They're the ones that have to start that chain of reaction.

  • I get it.

  • All I'm saying is we didn't know where they'd wind up then, right, Paul, And now we know.

  • We know literally where they're sitting.

  • I had 15 seconds, Paul.

  • They know exactly where they are with Ohio State's chance to get in.

  • How could they do it?

  • They have to adjust.

  • I mean, we just got through saying yesterday that the A C C adjusting, saying Notre Dame on cleansing your clear.

  • You don't play that last weekend and go through all this craziness.

  • And I think however they do it, they need to do it.

  • Otherwise, the Big 10 is going to become uneven and even bigger laughing stock than it's been since August.

  • To me, so long as it doesn't compromise, anybody's safety doesn't compromise anybody's health.

  • There's no reason not to adjust things on the fly as we go.

  • This is a once in a century circumstance.
