  • Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton has tested positive for coronavirus and will miss at least one race as a result, meaning he will not be able to match the record for most wins in a single season.

  • He's said to have mild symptoms and his otherwise fit and well according to his Mercedes team, but will miss the upcoming Secure Grand Prix in Bahrain.

  • Hamilton, who picked up his 11th win of the season at Sunday's Bahrain Grand Prix, was trying to match the 13 win record previously held by legendary drivers Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel.

  • This season will end with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on December 13.

  • It is unclear whether Hamilton will take part in that race either.

  • Formula One embarked on a shorten 17 race season in July after a positive test for McClaren employees forced the cancelation of this season opening Australian Grand Prix in March.
