  • I hope you like a thief.

  • Following video will make you fluent in one of the hardest languages in the world.

  • My native language off Arabic and the Onley thing you need to learn is one freeze in chair law.

  • Inshallah, in Arabic means God willing.

  • And inshallah, is the word we Arabs used to answer most questions.

  • Hey, are you going to school tomorrow?

  • Inshallah way won't respond with yes or no.

  • Instead, we say, Inshallah, inshallah, Meaning If God wishes I will come.

  • If God doesn't wish, I won't come.

  • The decision is up to God and it's up to you to understand what you really mean.

  • Are you coming or not?

  • Yes or no?

  • In the next time you meet an Arab and we ask you a question, you don't need to know the language or the answer.

  • Just say inshallah.

  • And somehow some way everybody understands each other.

  • That's one minute.

  • Inshallah, uh, in your local language, you probably use the word.

  • Please.

  • Ah lot.

  • Please pass the salt.

  • Can I please have water?

  • Please, Please, Please, please.

  • But now that I'm here in Copenhagen, Denmark, I learned that in their local language.

  • They don't say please because they don't have a work for it.

  • An entire language that does not include please.

  • But before you think they are rude, hear me out instead of please, the Danish say, Can you be sweet and pass the salt?

  • Or may I beg you for the water?

  • Or they're just not as a way to be friendly when they talk.

  • This experience has taught that you can say Please and be rude and you can never say please at all and still be friendly like these.

  • It's proof that it's not what you say that matters.

  • It's how you say it s Oh, sorry, I have to interrupt you just a little bit and tell you about the sponsor Off the video.

  • It's called Gravelly, and it is a crazy software because it literally helps you write and speak better.

  • Early in fact, six years ago, I tried to code software that it's similar to Graham Early it was so hard I didn't know how to do it So I quit and I'm glad someone else did not quit.

  • And they built Graham early.

  • And that's really cool.

  • Anyway, back to the video because I think by now you're very interested in languages.

  • English is hard.

  • I know if you can speak English, you think it's easy.

  • But if you're a beginner, English actually makes no sense.

  • For example, the word listen has a T, but you write it as list in No.

  • Has a K salmon has an L yacht is not Yash or Yeah, it's yacht and good luck spelling the word constitutional.

  • As you can tell, English is hard and Chinese is even harder.

  • It has 50,000 unique characters, each describing one word.

  • So for beginners, this looks impossible.

  • But I just learned about a language that is different.

  • It has the easiest alphabet in the world, and it's one you will never be able to guess.

  • It's the Korean 500 years ago, Korean language used to be written in Chinese.

  • Then one king said that this is too hard.

  • No one is reading or writing anymore.

  • So he came up with a new alphabet that you can learn in one hour.

  • Oh, my goodness, no.

  • But that right there instead of complicated Chinese letters, his alphabet looks like your mouth when you say, um, your mouth looks like a rectangle, So this is the character em when you say, Oh, your mouth is round.

  • So this is Oh, and this is SG K l all based on your mouth and throat shape instead of 28 alphabets.

  • There is on Lee 24 instead.

  • Off you are He is She is there is on Lee It is instead of silent letters.

  • Now you right Exactly what you say.

  • This is nice.

  • Hell, man, what you say is exactly what you mean.

  • No more crazy spellings.

  • No more long words, No more crazy weird characters This'll This is the Hong Goal alphabet And it quickly became the official alphabet in Korea.

  • That's how millions off Koreans started reading and writing mawr because the language became easier.

  • And that's also how I was able to read Korean in less than an hour so I could walk down the street and read the signs in a language I never understood before.

  • There's so much meat on your street insane.

  • Don't get me wrong.

  • The language itself is still very hard.

  • How do you say, What's your name?

  • It'll mean more wall.

  • But writing and reading it has become incredibly easy.

  • I love this alphabet.

  • Yeah, I'm going to be getting with locals now.

  • Onion hush mega because it is exactly what the world needs.

  • Simpler ways to read simpler ways to write simpler ways to communicate.

  • Language is supposed to break barriers, not to create them so we can finally share this world with every culture.

  • See you next week.
