  • Rockets star would list the Nets as his top choice via trade if he were to move on from Houston.

  • How lethal the scoring combo with Harden K d.

  • And then, of course, Kyrie be at this stage of their careers.

  • Zack will start with you.

  • E mean, obviously, offensively, look, people are gonna make jokes about the Nets.

  • It was already a soap opera waiting to happen.

  • To begin with, You throw James Harden and the mixed people are gonna make jokes people gonna make jokes about.

  • Are they gonna play with two basketballs and I get it?

  • All three of those guys like to have the ball, but I think I'm more optimistic about the fit on offense that most people and I think a lot of it depends on his Kyrie Irving, really willing to buy into being the third best player on the team and sometimes the third option a lot of times the third option.

  • But K D has always been willing to sort of split time between Izzo's and post ups and then running around screens off the ball and Harden is just amazing with the ball.

  • He'll have to can't play hardball anymore.

  • with those guys.

  • You can't just dribble the air out of it, and I think you could tweak it that way.

  • Offensively, I think it can fit.

  • I think they'd be devastating defensively.

  • There'd be some questions.

  • What do they have to give up?

  • I think would be the most important question.

  • But I'm less worried about the only one ball problem that most people are.

  • We'll see.

  • Though I could be wrong.

  • I think they could get James Harden.

  • It automatically puts them as the number one favorite in the East.

  • If they weren't already.

  • And really in the short conversation of the teams that should win the championship, I think they'd figure it out.

  • The issue about who gets the ball when, and you have a guy like Steve Nash being able to bring that harmony to a situation when he had guys like Sean Marigny, one of the ball more and Mari started about one of the ball mark when he had a team that was winning 60 plus games with the Phoenix Suns, I think it would just work out.

  • I think they're all the stage of their career where you know they've got individual accolades Kevin Durant and Kyrie both won championships, where they were kind of the second fiddle to the Steph Curry or the LeBron James.

  • This could be their own thing doing in Brooklyn.

  • Come playoff time, you're gonna put so much pressure on the defense is and also think about this, LeBron said about James Harden the playoffs this year.

  • His best asset.

  • People talk about his his availability.

  • He hardly ever misses games.

  • You're talking about two guys in Kyrie and Kevin Durant, certainly coming off the Achilles that may not be ready to play a full 72 games slate.

  • And I think having a guy like James Harden could really benefit you in the regular season slide.

  • You need to get a good seed for the playoffs.

  • How likely is any of this, though, Zack, Is this just pie in the sky type stuff, or are we really looking at a potential scenario here where James Harden could be leaving Houston and could potentially be there in Brooklyn, whether it's Brooklyn or Philly or whatever, I do not think this is pie in the sky.

  • I think this has really legs.

  • Now, the Rockets, they're gonna say we don't want to trade them.

  • We want to keep them and I get that.

  • Like the Rockets were a really good team last year.

  • People laughed at the way they just sort of collapsed and slunk out of the playoffs against the Lakers and it was bad.

  • But they were really good.

  • They would be within their rights to say, Hey, let's have cooler heads prevail run it back.

  • But I think this thing with Brooklyn has legs.

  • I think the hardest situation in general has legs into Dave's point.

  • With Kyrie coming out often injury and Kevin Durant coming off an injury to me, when you get a third star, you're always talking about, Do we want our depth or do we want three stars?

  • And then you got to do with the Heat?

  • Always did, which is get guys to chase the ring on the veterans minimum and all that.

  • The third start to me, that trump card for most teams is it's the ultimate insurance against an injury to one of the other two stars and that's exactly what we saw the year that Oklahoma City traded Harden.

  • They were still in elite contender until the moment rust got hurt in the playoffs and then they had no hope.

  • And to me, you just got a plan for injuries.

  • So I think if the price is right and I think the price will come down to draft equity and how far out they can push the picks and all that, I think it's worth the risk for Brooklyn.

  • Yeah, I mean, at some point, the Rockets have to look at what's happened to their team since the end of their running the bubble and say, We don't have a general manager.

  • We don't have our coaches Coach of the Year A couple of years ago.

  • Um, you know, there's been reports about, you know, Russell Westbrook, perhaps wanting to be somewhere else.

  • And obviously James Harden could see that.

  • Hey, I only have so much left of my prime, and I've done everything I can for this franchise.

  • Now I need you to help me out, to put me in a position to succeed and perhaps compete for a ring before my prime is up.

  • I Zack, just the way you said it.

  • This is not just, you know, pulling stuff out of thin air.

  • There's some momentum here, and I expect it only to get, you know, mawr talk about as the week progresses to your point, Dave, with rockets, I mean, they are, you know, the cupboard is bare.

  • Basically, when it comes to draft assets and things of that nature, if they're going to rebuild, it probably is the time to do that now, because James Harden is probably at the peak of his value.

  • And if you're gonna have to move on from Russell Westbrook, right, you're gonna have to kind of figure some of that stuff out, too.

  • And with Brooklyn with one aspect we haven't talked about is Steve Nash, right?

  • I know he's got my dad Tony on, uh, there with him as well in Jacque Vaughn.

  • But, man, that's a lot to take in for a first time coach.

  • He certainly is a guy that could handle it.

  • But Zach, your sign already thinking about the challenges that that could present he's he took one job.

  • Now it's gonna be another job.

  • Maybe.

  • And then Kyrie already said, We don't really have a coach.

  • We all just collaborate.

  • Steve Nash is, uh, this is one heck of a first time coaching job for Steve Nash.

  • As Dave said, Everybody's a coach, right?

  • Kyrie said it to no big deal.
