  • alright, Christmas is right around the corner and assuming that this entire tier four locked down stops on December 2nd, which I'm being told is very possible.

  • We've got one chance left in 2020 to save our economy.

  • To save our small and medium sized enterprises.

  • Christmas in the UK is worth 82 billion pounds, £82 billion.

  • It's worth to this entire country on if we can find a way to get this crucial, crucial aspect of retail, boost it into our small and medium size enterprises.

  • Then I think we can literally save businesses from going bankrupt.

  • And again, this doesn't only apply if you're an entrepreneur.

  • Because thes businesses employ people, they buy things from other suppliers.

  • They provide opportunities for people to come in and move around and spend money.

  • So it all comes down to the four weeks starting December 2nd and we must find a way to get a many people into central London into our cities as possible.

  • Which is why I am proposing this as your next mayor of London.

  • It's called a congestion charge holiday on.

  • I'm talking about removing entirely for a six month period, post locked down all congestion charges in the C.

  • C.

  • C.

  • The congestion charge zone is also in the U.

  • S.

  • Which is the ultra low emissions that's £15 per car per day on the C C C and another 12 50 pounds.

  • If you're one of those vehicles that has emissions, that's a lot of money to motivate people to make that trip into London so they can spend in our restaurants in our retail establishments in all the places that they can do to make sure we can save Christmas.

  • Unfortunately, your current mayor of London increased and extended the congestion charge.

  • He raised it to 10 p.m. And on weekends, so it's no wonder that foot traffic is down by 65% in the West End.

  • This is the same guy that has been crusading for the lock down that shut down the very businesses that provide the economy.

  • Even though by last check, London has still has some of the lowest rates of infection in the entire country, some 145 per 100,000.

  • So that's what I'm providing a congestion charge holiday.

  • On top of that, I want to provide a business rates holiday as well.

  • That means lowering all business rates to zero for six months after locked down.

  • This again gives these businesses a chance to try to get back on their feet.

  • And when I was at the Sloan School of Management at M I.

  • T.

  • I took economics there on one of the first basic lessons they taught us came from what we call Kinsey in economics and that is this any tax, any tax whatsoever slows down the natural flow of business.

  • Now, occasionally taxes, they're necessary.

  • But what happens is the government usually uses them in a massively inefficient way to try to stimulate the economy.

  • And there's massive losses.

  • The best thing to do is to not tax a situation because everyone makes money on the back of it.

  • The businesses dio they use those profits to invest in.

  • The business is by capital goods.

  • Hire employees and everyone wins.

  • And that's what no one's talking about with this city.

  • The simple solution is simple.

  • It's the economy, stupid.

  • As Bill Clinton once said during his reelection campaign, Theis economy will solve all of our problems here.

  • They will get people back to work.

  • They'll solve our mental health problems there again, get people out of the house.

  • So there's gonna be less domestic abuse, less systems abuse.

  • They're also gonna increase our livelihood, give our younger generation that they're calling generation co vid um, aspirations for the future.

  • If they can see businesses back.

  • It's the one thing that could potentially cure everything, Which is why getting London back toe work is my number one policy.

  • And again, we've got one chance left £82 billion that we could tap into and give some of these businesses the lifeline they need.

  • But let's let him earn it.

  • This is not a hand out.

  • This is a hand up, and my congestion charge holiday will make it happen.

  • That, combined with the business rates holiday, will reverse the poor decisions being made by our current mayor of London to increase taxes to raise the congestion charge up to 10 p.m. And on weekends, which is completely counterintuitive when you're trying to get people into London and spending Let's make Christmas happen this year.

  • Let's not cancel Christmas like your mayor wants us to.

  • Let's keep people in town spending and supporting businesses.

  • Leave your comments below.

  • Tell me if you think this is a great idea and forward this video on, we will lead London in a new direction.
