  • - You know, I'm just walking home here

  • after a long day at "London Real", doing what I love,

  • which is creating incredible content and conversations

  • that hopefully, you know, change the world

  • or make someone's life better.

  • And I just wanting to express my gratitude

  • for the incredible support we've had after announcing

  • that we plan on being your next mayor of London.

  • This is something we thought long and hard about,

  • and three weeks ago we announced,

  • and honestly the reception has just been,

  • it's just blown us away.

  • And it's been such an honour and a privilege

  • to go out there and be your representative,

  • and to go out there and be your next mayor,

  • and really put together a lot of really thoughtful,

  • detailed policy work to make this city,

  • you know, world-class again.

  • Let's be honest, we're not having our best moments

  • here in London, but we've got everything here

  • to be the greatest city in the world.

  • I still believe this is the greatest city in the world,

  • and I wanna show the world how great we are.

  • The people are resilient, they have fortitude,

  • they have that indomitable spirit

  • that Winston Churchill spoke of.

  • And I'm so proud to be British,

  • I'm so proud to be a Londoner,

  • even if I don't have the accent, you know,

  • and I'm so proud to be able to finally serve this city

  • that has given me so much.

  • It's where my two sons were born, it's where I live,

  • and it's where I plan on being buried.

  • And it's just such an honour and privilege to be able

  • to come to work every day,

  • and work for the last nine years on my show,

  • my life, called "London Real",

  • and now in six months to serve as your next mayor of London

  • and finally do it for the people, you know,

  • to really serve the 9 million citizens here and to listen

  • and to serve and execute on ways to make their lives better.

  • And I'm not saying it's going to be easy,

  • and it's gonna take everybody working together.

  • It's going to take sacrifice, it's going to take leadership.

  • Each one of us is gonna need to step up and be a leader

  • because I believe we're all leaders.

  • From a 10 year old kid to an 80 year old woman,

  • to someone who's disabled or who's similar,

  • who's a teacher or someone who's a CEO.

  • You know, we're all leaders, really,

  • and if we can just get up every day and lead our lives

  • in the best way and stick to a programme,

  • and stick to a process and fight the temptations,

  • and step up and do the right thing,

  • man, we could have the greatest city in the world.

  • And we can show the world what it looks like

  • to get back to normal, to get London back to work,

  • to put our science first, and our health first,

  • and our education first.

  • I honestly think we could show those New Yorkers

  • or those Californians what time it is, you know,

  • and they would be like,

  • man, how come we can't get it together

  • like those Londoners are doing?

  • I think we could show all those cities in Europe exactly

  • how a world-class city behaves.

  • We could make Paris, and Madrid, and Barcelona,

  • and Milan jealous of the way we handle ourselves up here.

  • And that's what I wanna do,

  • I wanna give us back our respect, our pride, our confidence,

  • as Londoners, as the greatest people in the world.

  • And I just wanting to take a moment and just say thank you

  • for all the confidence you've placed in me,

  • for all the great messages of support.

  • I walk the streets and people come up to me and say,

  • "Brian, I'm supporting you, I'm voting for you,

  • I appreciate you."

  • And it just means everything to me.

  • And I'm just grateful that I finally can be of service

  • and I'm gonna have to put my whole life aside

  • for a few years and put the show aside for a few years,

  • but it's worth it.

  • It's worth it to have this opportunity

  • to give something back the city that I love.

  • So that's it, just wanted to take a second out

  • and say, thank you.

  • Leave your comments below,

  • tell me what you think or just take this video,

  • and hopefully it just gives you something, you know.

  • I'm just super grateful, I'm super honoured to, like I said,

  • be the your next mayor and I'm excited

  • for the whole process.

  • So again, hope you're having an incredible day,

  • stay positive through this lockdown.

  • I know it's hard, I know it's challenging,

  • but we're gonna find a way through,

  • and together we are gonna take London in a new direction

  • and we're gonna make this place

  • a world-class city once again.

  • I promise you, I promise you,

  • we're gonna have that back.

  • That pride, that fortitude, that indomitable spirit,

  • we got it and we're going to make it happen.

  • So thank you, I appreciate you,

  • have a great evening wherever you are.
