  • candy and I visited all the off leash dog beaches in the Southern California region because we love our dogs so much, we want them to have so much fun.

  • So we decided to check out all of them to see which ones were the best ones.

  • And here is our top six or E.

  • Guess there is only six.

  • Yeah, just today there aren't very many in Southern California.

  • It's actually quite hard to find off leash beaches.

  • There are plenty of beaches, but a lot of them are very strict hours or you're only you're only allowed to have them with a leash on.

  • So just just to reiterate, this is off leash off leash dog beaches on.

  • So we're gonna go through each one and tell you what we liked about it on what we didn't like about it.

  • We're going to start off with our most favorite dog off leash Top Beach, which waas Huntington Dog Beach, Huntington Waas on our Yeah, from L.

  • A X.

  • It could be anywhere between 40 minutes to an hour on right now, the season that we're in due to the pandemic, there is less traffic than normal way.

  • We're a little bit north of L.

  • A X, and we were able to get there within the hour.

  • While we like this beach a lot because there is so much room, there's lots of parking They went on for like, miles on.

  • It was very clean.

  • I like how you know, because typically when we go to like beach areas, it's kind of run down.

  • But not a lot of sidewalk walk with their dogs and a lot of grass around anywhere.

  • Not Huntington.

  • It looks like a brand.

  • Yeah, yeah, look very modern, like for a beach town.

  • It was just so *** and span flee on the dogs loved it a lot.

  • Kuma.

  • And so we were running around like crazy.

  • The water was very shallow for a long stretch, so that made it possible for the dogs to go pretty far out into the ocean.

  • But they, with their feet, were stable toe touch the sand.

  • So I think that's what they really enjoyed about it.

  • And I really liked that Teoh, because the other beaches we went to didn't quite have that much space.

  • You know, they could really run around freely with no one really in our way and stuff.

  • Way also liked it because right after the dog beach, if you wanted Thio, go to a lot of different cafes with your dogs and we chose to go Thio Captain Restaurant.

  • So it's called Pacific Hideaway.

  • And they have this lovely terrace patio area for you and your dogs to enjoy lunch.

  • Our second favorite off leash dog P iss Santa Barbara.

  • And they have a really nice dog Beach area called Henry's Speech.

  • I liked a lot because of the scenery.

  • They have, like, gorgeous, uh, California cliffs, Uh, like California Coast is known for and you're like, right up against it.

  • So you could take some beautiful pictures and just thio sit in That setting is really nice.

  • The dogs really love running on the beach to and coma And so we both went into the water a lot.

  • The waves were that strong here, so I think they really enjoyed that, too.

  • When the waves are like, way too strong.

  • Kuma tends to not going so you know, is actually pretty brave.

  • And she'll go into the water pretty far, actually sometimes.

  • But Kuma, when the waves were too strong, she tends to not go into much, so I appreciate that It was pretty calm.

  • Their parking in this area was easy for us to find there was plenty of having dedicated parking area.

  • There is no street parking about.

  • Once a school.

  • I think it's pretty much a full.

  • We did go early in the morning to snag a spot, but when we left, there was still, you know, spots.

  • But there's also a dog wash station in the middle of the parking area, which didn't used.

  • But it's there if you need it, and the bathroom is a pretty, very well maintained area.

  • The only downside was they have this really cool restaurant there that overlooks the ocean.

  • But it's not dog friendly, which is a bummer because right next to the Dog Beach, yeah, you would think their dogs, probably because we're thinking about the way they have a drink or something.

  • Well, no, there's no other options in the area, so that's pretty much that's it.

  • Yeah, that was the only downside to it, but that's like a minimal thing.

  • So Santa Barbara is 96 miles from L.

  • A X, which is about two hours.

  • It's actually less than two hours.

  • But if you're gonna stop with your dog somewhere, you know, have a restroom break and it's a gorgeous driving take.

  • E will go by so fast.

  • Yeah, so Number three e feel like this is borderline Southern California.

  • But when we were looking at a lot of off leash dog beaches in the Southern California region, speech kept on coming up.

  • So we we went here anyway.

  • It's a caramel dog beach, which is 327 miles from L.

  • A e.

  • I think it's more closer to San Francisco.

  • Yeah, I think so.

  • Caramel is actually right in the middle of California, and it's rated.

  • It was rated were voted most off friendly city in the U.

  • S.

  • A.

  • So I think, the reason why people want to throw that in there because it is super dog.

  • The whole town is dog friendly, stated a dog friendly hotel.

  • Most of the shops are dog friendly restaurants, dog friendly.

  • We even just wine tasting wine.

  • Yeah, and then you walk around.

  • There's like, doggy stations everywhere.

  • They practice town made for God.

  • So we walked to the beach and it was a nice walk, and I wish we could have drove them because they could have got a little bit tired.

  • But hawking a super super Super limited.

  • We hadn't even gotten spot if we probably not, because I actually went there twice and the first time I went, I think it was 1 p.m. Or something like that was in the afternoon and it was definitely packed.

  • It was traffic going into the parking lot, and it's just one little parking.

  • Yeah, just like Max.

  • 10 spaces e so tiny I feel like there's maybe 2020 e 20.

  • Yeah, yeah, it's not even like a lot.

  • It's just kind of like, Oh, here's some spot.

  • Yeah, Next morning, though, he went really early, and it was super easy dependent parking spot that way, like this speech to because we can be really liked it because of the sand.

  • Yes, I love the sand.

  • There is white, that white powdery sand way got to the parking lot.

  • You go down like he says, humongous tree, which is a great e don't know.

  • I just love to use trees on Don't really picture of big trees, like in a beach, so I really like that.

  • And then you go down this massive like sand Hill, which I was like, man, about the kid I would love to, like, go sledding down this thing.

  • And so we loved having that Not so fun for Come on, this human Not fun for us.

  • This was Zoey's first ever dog beach e kind of never told me that the first speech she went She's spoiled a powder sand e think the powder sand Kuma like that a lot too, because I reminded her like a Florida scene, because when she first stepped foot on the beach, she kind of went crazy, e I wanna run.

  • So I let her off the leash as soon as I could, but I was kind of fun to see her get so excited about it, because it might serve home.

  • Next on the list is Ocean Beach, which they also called the original dog beach.

  • I like the beach.

  • I was pleasantly surprised.

  • Yeah, this was nice.

  • I like that setting that it wasn't It has, like, nice piles of rocks on both ends, which was really nice.

  • Plenty of room for Yes.

  • Yeah, definitely.

  • Lots of room.

  • Not as much room as like caramel are Huntington or Long Page, but there was still plenty of that, but their parking lot was humongous.

  • And even though it's humongous, Oh, my goodness, you got that night we were in line.

  • Yeah, So ocean beaches in the San Diego area and it's about 122 miles from L.

  • A X way left at 6.

  • 30 in the morning so that we could get there early and have no problems finding parking.

  • Oh, boy, we were wrong way cut there at 9 a.m. And it was already full.

  • Yeah, there was a line coming out of the parking lot and forget street parking because street parking there is Oh, yeah, next to impossible.

  • So I think that's why the people are just waiting in line to get in because they know finding street parking will be impossible.

  • So you will find parking eventually because everybody kind of goes there early.

  • Stays there for a bit.

  • You know, like the surfers with dog owners.

  • Some people would leave eventually, right?

  • They're not gonna stay there all day way Just have to be patient and wait for a spot, which which way Candy was actually gonna drive around and look for a spot while I took the dogs out.

  • But as soon as I left, she kind of parking spot.

  • But not even five minutes after.

  • Yeah, on.

  • You know, that's what everybody else was doing there.

  • Just waiting for a parking spot.

  • Yeah, because I was free to think it's free parking.

  • The bathroom was actually pretty nice.

  • Big.

  • It was pretty well maintained.

  • Yeah, a little bit far from the dog beach area.

  • Because you know this section on some places you're not have dogs.

  • Something which, you know, the signs are clearly marked Way.

  • Had to walk a little ways to get Thio bathroom area.

  • But at least they have it.

  • They have.

  • I'd rather walk.

  • Did not have any of the dogs.

  • Really enjoyed the speech as well.

  • Cool, love and around like crazy.

  • She found some new friends there, and she kept on chasing around like it was like this one pack of dogs with Zoe.

  • Yeah.

  • So both that way and crew were chasing these dogs getting Yeah, they're like, Wait, my friends.

  • So earlier I was saying, you know, usually Kuma hates waves like we're in Florida and there's ways she'll never go near it.

  • But here in California, I think it's because I'm so we like Zoe does it.

  • She goes through the waves and she has no problem.

  • That sounds fun.

  • So Kuma almost wants Thio prove that she could do it.

  • She goes to, and then she gets ways in her face and so on, and also with the rocks.

  • So I love the rocks there, and I think this is like a reason by rocks E o.

  • I could do this.

  • E gets up, just tells her on the rocks, which it's a fighting just because she always asked our help to jump on the couch, whatever she's like.

  • Oh, I can't do this but oh, Rach e o they are the rocks are really fun to and great photo opportunities if you like taking photos.

  • The number five Long Beach Long Beach is actually the closest to L.

  • A X and only 21 miles so super duper close, and this is the one we always hear about.

  • It's called Rosie's Dog Beach.

  • They have a dedicated parking area.

  • It waas You didn't have to pay for it.

  • They have a nice bathroom area.

  • No kind of generic clean off as far as like he's an access.

  • It was nice, Like Rosie's Dog Beach.

  • I thought about the dogs.

  • We enjoyed it as much as the other ones.

  • All the other dog actually went to.

  • They run around.

  • They get super excited, chase with their dogs, chase each other.

  • But this was the Onley beach they didn't get too excited about.

  • It's not a bad beach at all.

  • I think it's great, like if you're in the area.

  • I think it is a great dog beach to go to.

  • But if you had a choice between Long Beach and Huntington, I would definitely go toe Huntington.

  • Yeah, far apart.

  • So if you make a little bit more of a drive, it's definitely worth that.

  • Yeah, And if you do go to Long Beach, we stayed at the Westin, which is a super dog friendly hotel, and it's actually free for your dogs to stay.

  • And last on our list is Coronado Dog Beach.

  • Yeah, this was definitely not our favorite.

  • No, on luckily way didn't drive all the way down there just for that beach.

  • This one is also in San Diego and Onley, 15 minutes away from the Ocean Beach, Ocean Beach that we went to.

  • I didn't like that.

  • There is no doubt designated parking lot, so you have to find street parking, which is It's there, but it's far.

  • And then once you get to the beach, all of a sudden I see this sign that says, No dog in a lot of what it was freaking, I was like, No, I swear I looked this up.

  • There's a dog beach here And then we saw, like, this long path may take you to a dog bitch like Well, you can hear.

  • Like what?

  • What?

  • What?

  • All right, It's already hot out there.

  • Oh, my goodness, when I wanna walk that when we get there, it's so small.

  • Super smooth scenery wasn't even that great, because when you turn around, it's all fenced because there's a Navy base there.

  • I think the most disappointed was just a lack of space.

  • Yeah, like a space.

  • Definitely.

  • Yeah, I feel like the dogs felt that to e a little bit tired with first beach, but maybe I was a little bit disappointed with this place because everybody not everybody, but some of our friends talked it up.

  • Instead, it was one of their favorite dog beaches.

  • They went thio off leash dog beaches.

  • They went Thio.

  • So we're really looking forward to it.

  • And Coronado is a really beautiful area.

  • I had really high hopes when we parked.

  • We were like, Okay, it's a little far, but whatever the neighborhood, gorgeous like a like sidewalks, pretty houses.

  • So like the walk from the car to the beach was actually very nice.

  • Like I enjoyed that walks.

  • I was like, Yes, for the awesome and then on Like, what way?

  • Yeah, it's like they put it at the very corner of Coronado.

  • And again, it's not a bad beach is just on the bottom or list out of all the beaches that I went to, the off leash dog beaches that we went to in Southern California.

  • That is probably the wild that we will never go.

  • Thio s So that's it.

  • That's our list of our favorite off leash dog beaches in Southern California.
