  • Tim.

  • Last night when we spoke, we talked about the Rays needing to play catch up in this Siri's, and you spoke of the importance to get a lead, as I just mentioned the highlight.

  • They're the best team in baseball when they take the lead.

  • How much did this script that and Snell's performance follow exactly what you would have drawn up for them?

  • Well, this is the blueprint for the entire season.

  • When they score first, they almost always win.

  • Then they hit the ball out of the ballpark.

  • 68% of their runs scored in this postseason came by the home run.

  • They almost always send an overpowering picture out there to start the game.

  • And in this case, Blake Snell was absolutely tremendous for four innings, no hits and eight strikeouts.

  • And then they turned the game over to the bullpen.

  • They have not lost a game this season that they lead after seven innings, and it was just another line of hard throwing relievers that helped shut the Dodgers down.

  • That's what the Rays do.

  • Just when you think they're in trouble, they come back and win.

  • Yeah, Cash said something about a stable of those guys that could help it up there quite at a great pace, and they get the victory they get back in this and just looking at the big picture of, say, these first three games.

  • I don't care if a mathematically you had to have it or not, you had to have it.

  • If you're the Rays, because you've already lost Game one and you've got people were coming in Game two and this is a rookie like this.

  • This was the chance that they had to have this game Tim, didn't they?

  • They absolutely had to, because Walker Buehler might be the best picture still in the playoffs.

  • He is overpowering at this point, and that's why the Rays had toe win.

  • And this is so classic of the Rays.

  • Brandon Lau has struggled so badly in this postseason.

  • He was six for 56 but instead of Kevin Cash, taking him out of line up or even dropping him in the order he sends him keeps him in the number two spot.

  • And he had two opposite field home runs, which no one's ever done in the same game.

  • In the history of the world, Siri's and both of them were absolutely crushed.

  • So this is how the Rays win.

  • They make you shake your head and they just find a way to win.

  • So many times we're gonna hear from Cash in just a moment.

  • But just first, we've covered tonight to a degree, just looking forward that this race teams got one guy.

  • Dodgers have 17 guys that have lived on this stage race got one, but they get to give the ball to Morton in Game three.

  • You know, momentum's your next day.

  • Starting pitchers.

  • Good is Buehler is.

  • How would the race feel about handing the Baltimore Given what he's done on this stage?

  • Well, he's been the best postseason picture over the last few years.

  • His last five postseason starts.

  • He's five and O with a 0.67 e R A.

  • In his last start, he threw 66 pitches and absolutely carved him up with that great curveball.

  • He's absolutely oblivious to pressure.

  • He's been here before.

  • He's closed out World Series games.

  • If they could pick any of their pictures to start an important Game three, it would be Charlie Morton.

  • Just just a quick thought, just What?

  • What does it feel like to you?

  • This world?

  • Siri's, that obviously is unlike any other fan wise.

  • Just what does it the atmosphere feel like to you?

  • Well, it certainly doesn't feel the same when you're not at the world, Siri's and when the fans don't have there aren't 50,000 fans rocking stadium.

  • However, with everything we've been through and with some unbelievably good games here in October, this still feels like the world Siri's to me.

  • And because it has such great mo mentum and we know now we're gonna finish the season.

  • I think everything is okay with baseball and baseball deserves a lot of credit for making a comeback and actually finishing this thing, and I think it's gonna finish on a really high note on the way out.

  • Tim, you note, the PGA Tournament is this week.

  • The Zoo Zoo.

  • That's Tim.

  • Bye bye.

  • Thanks for watching ESPN on YouTube for live streaming sports and premium content.
