Hola, ¿qué tal?
Ahora nos toca estudiar las diferencias entre el singular y el plural.
Hello again. We are going to see today the differences between
singular and plural. Sabéis que
el singular es una cosa o una persona y el plural son
dos o más cosas o dos o más personas.
We have to know the difference between singular and plural.
When we speak about singular we are speaking about one only thing
and then when we say that something is in plural
is because there are two or more things.
Entonces, la regla general en español es
que si una palabra termina en vocal para formar el plural añadimos
una "s". Por ejemplo: el niño -
los niños la niña - las niñas
El niño guapo - los niños guapos
la niña fea -
las niñas feas. So the general rule in Spanish would be
adding an "s" to the vocal
when the noun is ending by a vocal, obviously, and then we made the
difference
as you can see between the
child, if it's a boy or a girl,
we add a "s" to the singular masculine
or an "s" to the singular feminine and we
make up the plural. Pero atención, porque
las palabras que terminan en consonante para hacer el plural necesitan "es"
Por ejemplo: el camión - los camiones
la mujer -
las mujeres el niño llorón -
los niños llorones
trabajador - trabajadores
If the noun is ending by a consonant then we have to add
"es". You can see the examples.
Vamos a ver,
por ejemplo mesa, la mesa es en singular y en plural será
las mesas. So the table in the singular would be the
table, just endind by e,
and in Spanish a, obviously, and then in the plural we have to add an "s"
but pay attention not only to the noun but also to the article.
Muy bien,
perdonad,
¿qué es esto? Let's see what's this
Teclado. Oh that's the keys
to write in your computer. El teclado, masculino
termina en o, ¿cómo es en plural?
so the plural of this word would be "los teclados"
We change "el" by "los"
but we just add an "s" to the noun. ¿Qué es esto?
What's this? Ordenador, ¿masculino o femenino?
That's a laptop and is that masculine or feminine?
El odenador it's masculine
y en plural los ordenadores
In the plural we add
"es" to the noun but again the article changes.
¿Qué es esto?
What's this? Canción - a song
¿Masculino o femenino? That would be masculine or feminine?
La canción. Recordad todas las palabras que terminan en
-cion
son femeninas. So it's feminine and remember that we've seen before
that all those words ending by
-cion are feminine. Si termina en consonante, ¿cómo es el plural?
If it ends by a consonant, how would be the plural?
Añadimos "es": las canciones
We add "es"
and we would add "s" to the article.
Hombre See a man
El hombre y en plural los
hombres. So, in singular would be the man
and in plural we have got in English a different word, but in Spanish
we would just change the article again to the masculine plural
and add an "s" to the noun in the singular.
Mujer. Woman.
La mujer y en plural
las mujeres. Pay attention to the changes.
In the feminine just add "s" to the article and
"es" to the noun ending by a consonant.
Vamos a crear oraciones. Mirad el ejemplo.
Let's make up sentences, pay attention to the example.
La mesa es grande, pequeño, feo
So the table is big, small,
ugly. La mesa es grande
porque no puede ser pequeño o feo porque es masculino
So it's big, but why? Because of the ending
So the ending of small would not make any concordance.
The table is feminine
ang ugly again is ending by o It only could be big.
el ordenador es incómoda, el ordenador es negro o
el ordenador es mala.
The laptop is uncomfortable,
black or bad.
Muy bien, el ordenador es negro,
concuerda por ser masculino.
So the laptop is black and again we pay attention to the ending in the
adjective
ending by o and computer or laptop
is a masculine word in Spanish. Podéis
intentar poner estas frases en plural para no practicar sólo el género.
You can try,
make these sentences in the plural and then you will not practice only
if it's masculine or feminine but also
¿Qué es esto?
What is this?
¿Cómo son los hombres y las mujeres?
Piénsalo y escribe. Mucho cuidado con la concordancia.
What are men an women like? So think about it and
write it but pay attention to concordance.
No olvidéis hacer vuestros ejercicios. Os vemos otro día.
