That's what we thought until we arrived in Berlin, Germany, which two under surprise was not as expensive as the rest of Europe.

$3 broke above $5 for a pizza, $2 for beer.

Berlin is cheaper than New York, Paris, Los Angeles and evening back home.

But why?

Here is my best guess.

Burnin was divided and right.

As this Berlin wall fell, the city was rebuilt for everybody.

Rent prices are controlled by the government, so they don't grow fast.

Public transportation is designed to be affordable, and here minimum wages are designed to be livable wages, not just minimum.

Whatever the reason is, this European capital is affordable to everybody.

The artist, business person, the poor, the rich and the families like mine.
