  • Only a 30 minute train ride from central Tokyo.

  • Even though it's close to Japan City that never sleeps, you'll feel like you've traveled pretty far with the traditional temples and shrines to the old souvenir shops.

  • College Way harnesses the charm of places like Kyoto, full of history and exciting information from the past looks chaotic.

  • This trip was a bit of a challenge.

  • I decided to try and get around my day trip using Illy Translator, a translation device.

  • So much history in one building just always amazes me every single time.

  • And I'm also very in touch with my surrounding so I could feel every piece of what Japan has to offer with Italy Translator in hand, I asked a guide stationed at this temple.

  • This shrine is well known for relationships and matchmaking.

  • I am very happy to say that I got the best fortune.

  • You can learn and experience so much on a day trip.

  • We couldn't see everything here in one day, so I definitely would love to make another trip back.

  • So we're heading Thio Kono Machi now, which is a very old town in Kawagoe.

  • And it's supposed to represent the Edo period.

  • We grabbed a quick bite to eat before exploring the old shops down Kono Machi Kono machi represents Japan's Edo period cuda, meaning warehouse and machi, meaning street.

  • Back in the day, the street was a successful commercial town.

  • The merchants here became so rich that they built their very own shops.

  • I recently had this big love for Japanese roasted green tea, and when I saw a shot for it, I wanted to purchase a bag to take home.

  • I met a woman who worked at the tea shop who noticed Illy translator from a TV commercial.

  • She got so excited E.

  • Was able to purchase my tea and I was so happy.

  • Kawagoe is also known for its a large amount of sweet potato foods.

  • Japanese sweet potato is one of my favorite things to eat in Japan.

  • If you love museums, Kaluga Way has its very own.

  • The wooden structures they used in their festivals are on display.

  • The movie is all in Japanese, but the image is pretty much says it all.

  • It looks chaotic.

  • Walking further down the road, we came to a street also known as Candy Street, full of traditional snacks and souvenirs for all to enjoy.

  • This street was my favorite place in Kawagoe Way.

  • So far, there was so much to look at and try.

  • I noticed people were carrying large, lengthy boxes with what looked like a sweet potato on steroids.

  • It turns out it's a spongy bread like lightweight sweet potato snack and it's calico, a specialty.

  • Oh, okay, so it's It's a ginormous piece of bread.

  • Italy has served me well this trip, if I do say so myself.

  • It was definitely difficult not being able to speak Japanese, since I have studied it for so long.

  • But it was nice to get a feel of what it's like to be a traveler that doesn't know the language.

  • I think this is like not Oh wow, that's so cool.

  • Specialty coffee.

  • It looks good.

  • It smells good in here.

  • Ending our day with coffee was the cherry on top.

  • Cowlick away is definitely a Tokyo day trip gem.

  • I didn't know much about it before, but now I do, and I will definitely come back for more since there's just so much to see.
