Today we're at Geibi Gorge in Iwate

It's supposed to be one of the most picturesque spots in Tohoku

And judging by the pictures I saw on Google

It does look quite good

Back in 1927 Japanese government came up with a list of a hundred iconic landscapes across Japan.

Today, I'm visiting Geibikei Gorge with Odigo Travel to find out why it made that list.

And you can ride a boat for an hour

Absolutely huge, this gorge, it's about 100 meters high...alright I just made that up

It looks about 100 meters high

And apparently we've got to throw some rocks into a hole in the gorge

I don't know what happens, apparently good luck

But, let's go and see

Apparently last week there was a typhoon

It came around this area

And actually damaged the gorge so they're quickly trying to repair it

It's time like this I wish I'd been a digger operator

Looks bloody good fun

To say this is relaxing would be an understatement

It's so.....well apart from the digger, it's so calm

It's cool, you come out of Sendai

Drive out of a major city for an hour and bang your in a gorge!

Absolutely stunning, I'd go so far as to say it's gorgeous

Gorgeous..

I feel like a changed man

That was a really pleasant journey

It felt like meditating or something

The singing, the smell of fresh water, the view... it was all rather pleasant

So Geibikei Gorge, I'd say it lives up to the reputation, it's absolutely stunning

If you're ever in Tohoku or Iwate, definitely come and check it out!

And right now, I'm pretty hungry, I'm gonna head off and...gorge on some cheese, so..

..."Gorge"

Geibikei Gorge is absolutely stunning but if you can't make it all the way up to Tohoku

Japan has numerous gorges dotted throughout the country
