  • -I hope so too, shoot. -What are you doing on Tuesday?

  • A big party? -Yeah, I'm having a bat mitzvah.

  • Yeah, I'm having a bat mitzvah for -- yeah.

  • -For you? -Yeah, my 21st birthday

  • for the 19th year, um, I'm having a bat mitzvah.

  • I've been studying Hebrew now for the last, like,

  • four or five months now. I'm reading the Torah.

  • I'm getting circumcised in front of everybody.

  • [ Laughter ] -No, no,

  • that's not the way it works. [ Laughter ]

  • But this is actually -- -I'm just playing.

  • I'm not getting circumcised. I already did that.

  • [ Laughter ]

  • -This is a cool thing. You just realized this, right,

  • your Jewish heritage? -Yeah, when I was 27.

  • But first, when I was like 15, 16,

  • my grandma told me. And, you know,

  • it's like, I don't know, do I believe her? Do I not?

  • But I started working at bar and bat mitzvahs

  • as an energy producer, and I did that for like 11 years.

  • And then, I met my father, finally, when I was 27,

  • and he broke it down to me and said "Yes."

  • And in the country that he's from,

  • it was kind of illegal to be Jewish,

  • and that he fled and there was a war

  • and all of this stuff. And so, and then, I believed him,

  • but kind of didn't believe him. But I believed him

  • because I was so drawn to it. -Yeah.

  • -And then, I did my 23andMe.

  • And then, you know, boom, Hebrew over here.

  • So I had to do it. -Wow, that's pretty cool.

  • [ Cheers and applause ]

  • -Yeah, got to represent my ancestors.

  • You know, I think it's really important

  • to represent your ancestors. I mean,

  • they did what they did to get you here, so why not honor them?

  • -That's fantastic. I love that.

  • And at the beginning -- Sure, yeah, you can clap for that.

  • At the beginning of the special, you come out being --

  • you are carried in a chair. -Yes,

  • by four strong black men. [ Laughter ]
