  • evening.

  • Everybody.

  • Questions for coach.

  • Nurse will start with Doug.

  • Nick.

  • Doug Smith.

  • Trounced are down.

  • You're right, I guess.

  • What's going through your mind when eyeballs bounce it on the rim for about seven minutes?

  • Looks like it's going in.

  • I think it was going in the whole time to me.

  • I thought it was, but just again, I thought it was Obviously it's a nice, lucky bounce, right?

  • But I thought we were very unlucky for a lot of that game.

  • So it came back to us a little bit balanced out.

  • Kyle didn't have Taliban seem to have the greatest scoring nights, but his contribution would have been as good as he's had all year.

  • Maybe the way he played all night.

  • Yeah, I really was impressed with his defense, Doug.

  • I thought he was.

  • He was being sold alert and aggressive on his switch outs.

  • Right, You, just every time you you saw on opening coming there, he waas taken it away and then obviously had that huge steel.

  • I think we had back to back shot clock violations and that was getting ready to be 1/3 1 and he got do it just in the nick of time.

  • So he was again.

  • He was played a lot of minutes.

  • Uh, you play the whole second half, and he was He was great down the stretch defensively.

  • Uh, where to Ryan?

  • On your left coach.

  • Coach.

  • Where?

  • They gave me talked about defense and lock it in the last 3.5 minutes.

  • I think JJ Reddick had and one opportunity only.

  • Their field goal made by Philly was that butler bucket the last 45 seconds.

  • Anyone by the defense?

  • What impressed you about your defense over the last four minutes?

  • Um, I mean, we just We just We're doing it all right.

  • We were We were pressuring the ball.

  • Um, we were corralling the right guys for a split second with two.

  • We were either rotating or hustling back to our own, so it wasn't, you know, because we put two on the ball.

  • Didn't mean something was automatically open.

  • Um, and then we rebounded it after we contest.

  • But, you know, those possessions defensively were awesome.

  • They had again a lot where they didn't didn't even get a look at the basket.

  • Nick, Restart from the Toronto Star.

  • That last play was it basically, give Kawai the ball the top and let him try to create as he kind of didn't.

  • Game four.

  • Yeah, that's that's That's it.

  • We were when we run Kyle off their first as the first option and then quite loops under there and gets it at the top, and then it XYZ call from there.

  • What to do?

  • We've seen that one a few times this year again.

  • Not sure he's made that exact shot.

  • He's probably taking it four or five times but balanced out again a little bit.

  • I think you missed a couple of those along the way this season, that exact same played similar shot.

  • So, um, it's good that the balancing scales were there tonight.

  • Dave down front left, spent on ESPN.

  • Nick, What's it been like for you to coach Kwai Leonard this first year?

  • And what have you seen from him as the stakes have gotten higher and higher in the playoffs?

  • Well, um, first of all, what it's been like to coach him, he's, um uh I'm sure I have along the line had a more attentive player, you know, probably some one of my walk on someone of college teams I coach that was paying attention, but he's It's amazing to me that he's, um whether we're in the huddle or in the locker room or in the film room.

  • He's He's always locked in on what the coaching staff is saying, and I think that is, Ah, interesting thing about him, right?

  • He's very coachable.

  • He's focused on pays attention.

  • So that's e think that's I think that's a pretty big statement to say that.

  • But then again, and then when you get to his play here in the playoffs, it's been it's been at at an elite level, right?

  • I mean, determined level on.

  • And tonight I thought he was.

  • He was awesome at both ends, and that's that's again, I think is uniqueness.

  • Not only Kony, he gets you 30 all right, and then anywhere upwards from that, Um, but there's moments when he could just decide you're not you're not scoring, either.

  • I'm gonna take it from you or something like that and I think that's ah pretty amazing thing.

  • I will go to Soap and a coach so panned out with The New York Times, I was wondering, you know, there's been a lot made in recent years of the Raptors.

  • Lack of postseason success.

  • Um, what does this win mean for the franchise as a whole?

  • I mean, listen the biggest.

  • The most important thing is that this team is still playing and and I think there's still room for growth with this team, right?

  • I've mentioned it a few times served during both these playoffs.

  • Siri's it.

  • I thought we played a very, very good hot Orlando team, and if we get through would make us better.

  • And this was a very, very good team with unbelievable offensive firepower.

  • Size talent.

  • Um, and we obviously, hopefully grew are continuing to grow through, advancing through this Siri's.

  • So that's what's most important to me again.

  • I I don't, um I don't think the past has really anything to do with this team.

  • I know it's always there for historical data, and we need to compare and stuff, but I I I don't our won't or can't.

  • Well, all I really care about now is these guys enjoying this for a few hours tonight and then getting it in their game faces locked back in tow.

  • Prepare for the next round to John on your left there, Nick.

  • You're Sean Woodley.

  • Rappers.

  • H Q Um, Serge Ibaka.

  • Tonight, 29 minutes.

  • You shorten the rotation down to seven.

  • He played crunch time.

  • What did you think of surges game tonight?

  • Well, he he was obviously really big out there, right?

  • He had a couple offensive put backs.

  • He rebounded.

  • He was he was rim protecting.

  • Um, I'm not sure if he blocked any shots or not, but he was maybe alter in a few, and he grabbed a few rebounds.

  • Um, and he was confident on offense.

  • I thought he was.

  • He was There was a stretch, sir.

  • When he was when he was one of the maybe the second most confidence guy out there behind.

  • Why write it get kicked over to him and he was just pulling it, Or he was flying inside and catching a dump off when he was finding a way to get it in.

  • So, um, it was it was big.

  • I think you know, we talked about the size being a knish.

  • You for us.

  • Um, I liked the look of that lineup kind of Kyle with this kind of the floor general out there and then a bunch of big guys.

  • You know what passed with quiet the two and Pascal it the three and surge of the four market, the five.

  • And, um, it didn't seem to cause us too many problems on the defense event, especially.

  • It was It was excellent.

  • Um, offense was a little, you know, um, e keep keep saying the same thing a little out of rhythm on DNA.

  • Not shot making enough, but, um, obviously that that lineup brought it home for the last 70 minutes of the game.

  • Last couple questions will go to Sarah on your right.

  • Next.

  • Sarah Todd, Philadelphia Inquirer.

  • Yesterday we talked a lot about how much rebounding was gonna impact this game.

  • You just speak about the teams offensive rebounding effort especially, uh, and how big it was just in the last few minutes to you Talked about a couple of surgeons, put backs?

  • Yeah.

  • I mean, get a lot of offensive rebounds.

  • There was a lot to get right.

  • High volume of shots available toe offensive rebound tonight.

  • That's part of it.

  • But again, I thought there was some great determination there.

  • I thought even when they did secure him it was a hard defensive rebound for them.

  • And again, I think that's Ah, it's just a telling sign of how hard your team's plan or or how hard it is to Teoh get a stop right when even when the defense have rebounded super hard.

  • Um so it was big for US coaching and Harrison Associated Press.

  • It's no secret what you're gonna see in Milwaukee, but I imagine you may have been keeping in one eye on them throughout the playoffs.

  • What have you seen?

  • And what do you expect in this upcoming series?

  • Well, um, it's a totally different style than we've just been through in our last two.

  • Siri's right.

  • These were These were, um, set play teams.

  • Oh, pretty methodical on offense, you know, they're going to come down and look at things and run some post ups and, you know, run stuff for their certain guys.

  • And not to say, Milwaukee doesn't do some of that, too.

  • But they'd much rather spread the floor, give it to a guy and put their head down and take it to the room and put it in the rim.

  • And if you send help, they're gonna fire it out.

  • They're gonna shoot a ton of threes.

  • So it's a little, little different style that we're going to see.

  • Um, we're gonna have to adjust to that really quickly.

  • Obviously.

  • Have to forget about, uh, how happy we are.

  • Um, pretty quickly, because it's ah, hungry team.

  • It's very leap team.

  • Very good team.

  • We're gonna have toe.

  • We're gonna tow.

  • I didn't.

  • Like I said, we're going to continue to grow.

  • We're gonna play play better.

  • Thanks very much, everyone.

  • Thank you.

evening.
