  • D Angelo.

  • You pulled him midway through the third quarter.

  • Was Rafter a turnover?

  • Was that anything to do with the him turning over the ball a lot tonight?

  • Or was it strictly?

  • No, it was It was the injury.

  • Coach.

  • It feels like a daily question, and we ask you this, but what are you making?

  • Of all the injuries and knickknacks and everything that's going on right now, um, I'm not making anything of it just dealing with.

  • So next man up, you know, I I thought Chi Bowman came in, gave us a really good lift after De Lo went out.

  • And, um so we'll, you know, we'll keep he planned.

  • I'm really proud of the effort.

  • I thought the guys competed like crazy out there, and our defense was much better, which is a very encouraging sign.

  • Um, man, that's gotta continue if we get that kind of effort defensively and that kind of awareness, um, game plan discipline than, uh, I think will be in position to win some games.

  • The lineup change wasn't a shock, but tell us about the process that got you to the lineup change.

  • And also what did you think of how it performed it in with the new line mainly.

  • Did it just because of your question before the game?

  • Yeah.

  • I just wanted to mess with you.

  • Money.

  • Um, we, uh we just wanted to take a different look.

  • You know, we had lost five games in a row, and and, um and we wanted to stew to see, um, Herrick and Draymond play together.

  • Um, you know, we we like the physicality that that brought to our defense.

  • And, um so we had a more more physical front line with Eric and and dreamin and Willie.

  • And so, you know, we give up a little something in spacing, but we pick up something defensively and and we get a look at it.

  • So that's what we have to do is keep keep looking at combinations and positions and keep moving forward.

  • Bank.

  • I thought I thought the lineup was good.

  • I mean, we got off to a great start.

  • Um, I thought the defense was excellent.

  • We didn't turn the ball over, you know, for the 1st 9 minutes or so.

  • And, uh, and we executed offensively, and the game is so connected.

  • You know, um, when We were taking care of the ball.

  • Our defense was great.

  • As soon as we started turning it over, the defense struggled.

  • And it's no coincidence.

  • It's hard to guard a fast break.

  • You're just not in position.

  • And so the turnovers shifted the tide of the game.

  • And But I was really proud of the way the guys fought back and took the lead and and they hung in there and we had a chance.

  • We just couldn't get it done.

  • Steve, you answered some of these some of this.

  • But just that the effort and energy crashing the boards, creating second chances.

  • How much fun is that to see these guys, you know, hitting the floor and just working hard?

  • Yeah, it's fun.

  • And you can you tell.

  • Our crowd enjoys it, you know?

  • And it's 11 of the things I loved about our our home crowd, Not not just, you know, in the five plus years that I've been here is coach but going going back 20 years ago, you know, as a player, um, Warriors fans have always appreciated high energy, hustle, toughness, greed, competition and you could you could feel it in the building tonight.

  • There are fans really enjoyed watching our guys compete, and that's important.

  • You know, we we want We want people to come into this building and be excited about watching our team, and it's been a rough start.

  • But I think if we can compete that way and play that way, we're gonna win some games and are our fans will enjoy what what we're doing.

  • Where do you think Jordan pool is that mentally right now?

  • Obviously, it's a small sample, but it's only sample he's ever known in them and in the slums.

  • Kind of worsening.

  • Yeah.

  • I mean, you know, you need I remind myself he should be a junior in college right now.

  • And that's, um, you know, you even guys like Steph and Clay in their first year in the N B.

  • A, um, you know, was not easy.

  • And it Z it's overwhelming at times when you first get into the league and the how fast and strong everybody is and you have to get comfortable, the game has to slow down, and I'm very confident that it will happen.

  • I think Jordan's done a a much better job over the last 34 games of taking good shots.

  • They're just not going in right now, and it's tough.

  • It kind of snowballs on you when that happens.

  • I've been there.

  • I know exactly how he feels.

  • But, um, there's so many games in the MBA, and that's something a young player can learn is that you can get down on yourself.

  • But you got another game the next day and the day after that and the day after that, and the sooner you can get past a tough shooting night, um, and build your confidence and keep playing, um, more consistent you're gonna become.

  • And Jordan Jordan will get there.

  • Steve was Draymond basically the point guard or point forward for that second unit and was that kind of conscious effort to get him with his hands on the battle.

  • But more Yeah, yeah, So we we did that a little bit last game.

  • Um, wherever we were, I can't remember.

  • L A Yeah, we did it down in L.

  • A.

  • Um, you know Drummond's that is best offensively when he's in the in the middle of the of the fray, whether it's handling the ball of setting a screen, um, posting up.

  • You know, he's, uh he's really good facilitating and making plays for other people.

  • So it's been, you know, some spend some trial and error, you know, in terms of how we've played him with this brand new group of people around him.

  • And so I like this.

  • I like the look of Draymond handling the ball, and we'll probably do more of it, despite the loss with is what you saw out there.

  • And, you know, given that was a close loss for us is a 20 point lost.

  • Does that give you guys a little more confidence?

  • Maybe a confidence boost going into this road trip?

  • I think the biggest reason for confidence is that, you know, we we played our best defensive game of the year.

  • That's what really matters.

  • You know, um, if you can make stops in this league, then you're gonna win some games and it's the first night.

  • Ah, really?

  • Maybe all year, where I felt like Okay, we're we know what we're doing defensively.

  • We just looked organized.

  • We looked tied together, rotations where their box outs were there, you know, we were We're fighting and fighting for each other and That's a great sign, so that gives me confidence.
