  • top five players best available.

  • He has him ranked in the 123 order, but sometimes there might be a little debate between two and three.

  • Let's do it.

  • Virtual bill.

  • It has to say about Moran and Barry.

  • This much we know.

  • Zion Williamson will be the number one overall pick in the 2019 n B A draft.

  • The question then becomes, Who goes second, R.

  • J.

  • Barrett or John Moran.

  • Entering college, Barrett was ESPN number one ranked recruit and the presumptive number one pick in this year's draft.

  • While Marantz emergence from no name High school recruit tournament, Darling is almost the stuff of fiction.

  • Moran, a former a U teammate of Zion Williamson, has big time game with small town life experience.

  • Moran is a dynamic athlete with legit triple double potential.

  • At the next level.

  • He's explosive in transition and has excellent passing instincts in a slick handle.

  • Barrett hails from basketball hotbed Mississauga, Ontario, and is the God son of two time N B.

  • A M V P Steve Nash.

  • Its combination of size, agility and body control are truly special.

  • A 67 wing that can play the point and get to the rim and finish with ease.

  • Moran is the first player to average 20 points and 10 assists per game since assists became an official stat in 1983 84.

  • Now Barrett shattered both the Duke and A C C records for scoring while being named a consensus first team All American.

  • As different as both of these players, talents are, they both have the potential to be marquee players for a franchise looking to make a statement.

  • Well, as you look at this right now, 35 years ago in the 84 draft, it was a draft of Akeem Olajuwon, Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley.

  • It was also the draft of Sam booing.

  • I know injuries played a part in this, and I'm not suggesting R.

  • J.

  • Barrett guys is Michael Jordan.

  • But if you let a guy go past two and take him three and three turns out to be a star, you never, ever here the end of it.

  • Is this stacking up the way it should be?

  • Villas?

  • I think it is.

  • And I think we're all three in agreement that John Moran is going to be the number two pick and should be, But I personally, I don't think it's a no brainer.

  • I think I think you have to think about it.

  • And when you look at these two compared to one another, John Moran right now is the better shooter.

  • He is the far superior passer, although R.

  • J.

  • Barrett is a very good passer.

  • At 66 I would give the edge a bit toe.

  • R.

  • J.

  • Barrett in transition.

  • Both are great finishers.

  • He's more of, Ah, point guard ball handler.

  • I give the I give the edge defensively to bear it because of his size and his defensive range.

  • Both have really good basketball.

  • Accused.

  • The one area that's not up here is R.

  • J.

  • Barrett is a much better rebounder, in part because of his size, but he's a really good defensive rebounder, gets to the offensive glass.

  • I just think with with with John Marantz ability to play the point, he's a special talent and a special athlete.

  • I would give him a slight edge.

  • Is the number two pick?

  • You know, you mentioned something very, very important playing the point guard position, Jay, I think, is the game is really guards game today wings like R.

  • J.

  • Barrett.

  • He's gonna be a terrific pro, but I think that this young kid, John Moran, I mean, he's able to facilitate make passes with his right hand with his off hand, which is very important talking about pick and roll play he's looking to pass, and only that when things break down, he could get his own.

  • He can create a shot.

  • He could create an opportunity for itself.

  • I just think that he's a no brainer at number two, even though I still think very highly a R.

  • J.

  • Barrett.

  • I think he's the clear cut number two prospect in this draft.

  • I don't see it as a two way to be situation.

  • I think he has star potential in, like Chauncey said.

  • It starts with his passing, his ability to do it with his right hand with his left hand.

  • He reminds me a little bit of Trey Young in terms of his facilitating style.

  • You could make every pick and roll read.

  • He's shifty, he's explosive.

  • He's almost impossible to keep in front in the half court.

  • His ability to change speeds change directions on a dime and then he's ahead at the rim athlete who put you on a poster in hurry and then she's shooting touches well, his ability to shoot with range off the dribble.

  • I think he's gonna punish teams for going under ball screens, and that's gonna allow him to get down here to the rim.

  • And then, lastly, the star quality.

  • This kid is built for the lights.

  • He has a charisma about him that you really want.

  • Chauncey, you know, in a point guard, that's a key attributes.

  • So he has everything that you would ever want a franchise point guard and just a little insight into how he was discovered.

  • This is a screenshot of a text message that Coach James Cain had sent me.

  • This is from December 2016.

  • Okay, and it's a text that he sent to his buddy, basically saying, John Moran is a pro.

  • Here's a screenshot of the tweet from John Moran.

  • This is 2016.

  • In December, nobody knew about this kid.

  • They discovered him in the back Jim at Chandler Parsons camp, and here he is, the number two pick in the NBA draft at the top two picks in the draft, coming from small towns in South Carolina.

  • Not too far apart.

  • If you don't know about John Marandi was not a highly regarded a recruit.

  • At least until late in the recruiting process is full.

  • Name chemistry is Jemele Marantz, not ranked in the top 100 recruiting class.

  • Murray State was the first offer him, but then burst onto the scene.

  • First Player to average 20 points and 10 assists per game this season led the nation in assist.
