It's designed to allow quick access to a firearm, using either a fingerprint, a numeric code or a mechanical key.

Now I would normally focus on the mechanical lock, and this one does have its shortcomings.

But today we're going to look at a particularly egregious design flaw with the electronic lock.

If we open this up, we'll be able to see a small button on the inside.

That button is what allows us to set the code and register and delete fingerprints.

It's that tiny black bump all the way in the back.

Unfortunately, that button can still be accessed and operated while the safe is closed.

All you need to do it is a thin piece of metal like this.

So let me show you how it's done.

First note that my finger is not registered with this reader.

We're gonna change that by reaching inside with this thin piece of metal, pressing the button, registering my fingerprint.

Now, whenever I put my finger here, opens right up so as you can see compromising.

This is inexcusably fast and easy.

And because of that, you should not depend on this to stop a curious adolescent from accessing your firearm.
