  • This is the lock picking lawyer, and what I have for you today is a Squire.

  • Defiant insurance padlock.

  • This is a beefy £1.7 padlock with a lever mechanism and a reputation for being very robust.

  • Now, depending on how you count, this is either a five or six lever lock.

  • I consider it to be five levers, since one of them appears to do nothing but provide a little bit of spring bias to the shackle.

  • If we open this up with the key, we can see the shackle pop up just a little bit.

  • That's all one of the levers appears to D'oh!

  • I'm not sure why they would have done that.

  • Maybe I'm missing something, but I would rather have an additional operating lever for increased resistance to picking.

  • Speaking of which, let's see what it takes to get this open.

  • I'm using this mad Bob's tensioning tool and this UK lock pickers wire.

  • Okay, putting some pretty stop tension on this.

  • Here we go.

  • Click out of one nothing on two.

  • Click out of three, skipping under the dud lever that tensions the shackle hit number five and we opened it up.

  • Let's get these tools out of here that might prove to be the hardest part of this manipulation.

  • There we go.

  • So, as you saw, we opened this up pretty quickly and I did not run into any anti pick features like false gates.

  • So what, we do have a pretty robust shell here.

  • I'm not as impressed as I thought I'd be with the pick resistance.

  • In any case, that's all I have for you today.

  • If you do have any questions or comments about this, please put them below you like this video and would like to see more like it.

  • And, as always, have a nice day.

  • Thank you.
