This is the lock picking lawyer, and I have long advocated for truth in labeling when it comes to security products, but unfortunately, it's something I rarely see.

So I like to go out of my way to compliment companies that are up front with consumers about the quality of the products they sell.

That brings me to today's featured product, a fingerprint handgun safe made by a company called Ka Ka Gu.

And while I doubt it was intentional, it is an apt description of this safe.

You see, they made a serious mistake in design that's as common as it is egregious.

They failed to protect the internal button that allows us to program a new authorized fingerprint.

And unfortunately, all you need to exploit the flaw is a fork.

First note that my left index finger is not authorized.

Then we can just slip this fork in between the lid and the body of the safe, slide back to where that button is Now we can program this finger, and we now have a new authorized fingerprint.

Folks, it should go without saying that I see this as a significant design flaw, but I'm not sure there's anything I can say about this that isn't summed up right on the top of the box.
