He spent nearly a year in space aboard the International Space Station.

This American hero is the twin brother of fellow astronaut Mark Kelly, whose wife, former Arizona Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, survived an assassination attempt in 2010.

Now Scott Kelly is sharing tips with his fellow Americans on how to cope with being stuck at home.

His number one advice.

Follow a schedule.

Get up at a regular time, Go to sleep at a regular time.

You need to schedule time for work.

You need to schedule time for your family.

You need a scheduled time to take care of your environment.

Kelly also says Make sure to step outside and enjoy the fresh air, even if it's just in your driveway.

Exercise and the ability to get out in the sun and nature, if you can, is important to our mental health, which in turn is important to our physical health.

You can go stir crazy while being cooped up inside, so Kelly suggests, you start a hobby, hobbies, your very important.

We have hobbies in space.

I read a lot.

I wrote a lot other people playing music.

You need those kind of outlets when you're living in a stressful environment.

He also recommends you keep a journal and take time to connect with others.

When you're in isolation, How important is it?

How important is it to hear someone else's voice and for them to hear your voice?

It's incredibly important, you know.

It allows you to feel like you're still part of what's going on in society.

I think, uh, you know, people need to take advantage of that.

And like I said, I think they need to.

I think there will be a positive out of this is that people will find themselves reconnecting with old friends and family.

Lastly, Kelly says, Listen to the experts and remember that we will get through this.

We can rise to the occasion, but in this case, it has to be all of us rising to the occasion together.

And if we do that, we're gonna be just fine.
