  • i used to jump around and then when commercial went on on the tv i would start running around

  • and dancing. it was really fun. and then my mom took me to dance classes on the weekend.

  • i thought it was like just the best thing in the world.

  • when we first moved in our new dorm, everyone one was so happy. Hello.

  • At shen yun we have really big dorm, big classroom.. It's really big. Everything. anybody, anybody.

  • so the younger performers have to take academic. classes for half of the day and then for the other half we use it fro dancing.

  • i used to think i'm pretty good at dancing. Cause my teachers was always saying oh i listen very

  • good. she can maneuver all the moves. and she's really flexible. and accordinated, oh

  • she's a good dancer. i was like oh ok i was a pretty good dancer. and then i came here

  • and then there like oh no you have a lot of work to do.

  • when i first came to shenyun i think the hardest for me was performing like ancient tale. this story was tongu there's

  • . i had to be this little girl and i felt she's really happy and she's

  • going out to play with her grandpa. but then suddenly this nine sun appear and then it

  • suddenly become very hot. basically i had to point at the sun and go like oh no what

  • do we do. i had to show people that it was really hot and i couldn't do it because i

  • couldn't act and i didn't feel it. i didn't feel like it was really hot. i thought oh

  • i'm going to do this move and that move. every time we had rehearsal the choreographer was

  • always telling me that you're not using your heart. you're not showing me that you're actually

  • feeling this. i was like. wait. cause i thought oh i'm pretty good you know, my techniques

  • and everything and all my movements they're in the right place AND EVERYTHING and she

  • said wait you don't look like you're burning. you don't look like you're using your heart

  • to dance. you have to connect it with your body. and you have to really feel that you're

  • in that same situation as those characters that you're going to play. i learn that as

  • a performer you can't feel proud of yourself. But you can't look down on yourself either.

  • then to overcome hardship your heart has to be in the right place. out of this year's

  • dances, the biggest challenge for me was our handkerchief dance. i have to throw my handkerchief

  • out and do a front walk over and catch it. there's one time and then we have a rehearsal

  • and it took me so many times to try to catch it. i'm so scared that it would fall and i

  • guess it wasn't a very good attitude and that's why it affected me cause it's all connected

  • from my movement to what i'm thinking inside and after i said that well handkerchief are

  • pretty happy dance why be so scared of it and then after i became more determined i

  • never dropped when we went to asia

  • the most important part of our show is working together like you see at some stages and then

  • we're dancing together. that takes a lot of teamwork. But we also like behind the scene

  • in the change room or backstage anywhere we all working together sometimes it's dark when

  • you come off stage and people help you hold the flashlight in so you can see where you're

  • going sometimes i'm helping other people and sometimes they're helping me. even it was

  • just a little thing like passing a prop to someone or straightening out their sleeves

  • or their riven i guess this how i learn to think for other people and not just for myself.

  • and i think the coolest part of our being in shen yun is going on tour because who get

  • this opportunity. i've been here for three years and for three tours we've been to around

  • seventy five cities in almost twenty countries around the world. and we perform at least

  • four hundred shows. sometimes it's really tiring when we perform but then after i have

  • to really take this out to go play and see like all this different places and it's really

  • exciting we can take a lot of pictures you can buy a lot of food and gifts you can go

  • shopping you can also like learning different cultures and meeting different people like

  • i make a lot of friends

i always like dancing. and i really like flipping and learning techniques. since i was little,
