  • So there's one thing I've learned over the last graphics card launches that bio slashing once again a thing something I used to do way back in the day and to get some extra performance.

  • But apparently now everyone's just bio fly bios flashing their current card to a higher to your card.

  • So I figured, Why not get in on the action?

  • Show you potentially Howard to get some more performance out of a lower and graphics card or potentially had to ruin it?

  • Today's video sponsor is privacy dot com.

  • These smart way to take control of your finances when shopping online privacy dot com is an online service that allows you to create custom cards that you can use when shopping online.

  • Anywhere that accepts a credit card number or a debit card number will work with privacy dot com.

  • Now the cool thing about this is you can set up a either recurring monthly payment for subscription service is or even a one time payment.

  • If you're worried about that sketchy site and whether or not it's actually safe now, I personally use it for Little J and her online gaming allowance.

  • So I set a custom card for her, and it has a limit on there.

  • And I can also pause the card when she gets herself in trouble, and I can reactivate it when she turns it back.

  • Most of all, privacy dot com is about peace of mind when shopping online.

  • There are some pretty sophisticated tools out there trying to get your information, and the best thing to do is keep them from ever seeing your information when shopping online.

  • So right now, the new users that sign up for privacy dot com using my link will get a $5 credit on their account.

  • So you guys waiting for start shielding your financial information from the online vendors by using privacy dot com slash gs two steps.

  • So what we've got right here is our vanilla radio on 5700 and then our vanilla 5700 x t.

  • Both of these used the exact same core, although one is shaped down versus the other.

  • You can't really tell because it has a back plate on it.

  • But they are the exact same PCB, with the exception of the 5700 x t.

  • Having what appears to be two extra phases on the power delivery because there's two missing here versus what was actually on the 5760.

  • However, the layout of everything on here is identical.

  • Where the problems are, all of the trace is everything.

  • So this isn't the first time people have done this.

  • Actually, I know.

  • When the 5700 x t and 5701st came out, people talked about bios flashing it.

  • But we're talking about it again because for the first time in a launch of a graphics cards since I've been running this channel, the manufacturer is actually telling you to flash your bios to get better performance.

  • And that's because of the reasons we've already talked about to death, which is the 2060 price drop, meaning the 50 5660 now had to compete with the 2016 not the 16 60 t I, which means they had to bring up the performance per dollar or was a stupid purchase.

  • So here we are today.

  • So we're gonna take our 5700 flash are 5760 to it, using now the tool the MD sent and that you guys gonna be able to go and download from A and E's website, and they're just handing it out, which is something no one really has ever done in the past.

  • I could video for sure, and then apparently there's extra performance to be had.

  • Now, with the 2060 ko that Steve has talked about on gamers nexus about.

  • Apparently it's actually a shave down 2080 Super Dies.

  • So now people are unlocking those two get stupid performance, although maybe not reliable because they clearly were bend as they are for the reason that they are.

  • But who says you can't We can have fun with it.

  • So if we end up killing the card, that would really suck because these are single bios cards or not duel bios, which means that we're not gonna be able to just switch the BIOS and then flash it back.

  • First thing we need to do, though, honestly, is we need toe get our 5700 x t up and running.

  • We need to pull the bios off of that.

  • If we can't get the bios to save in G.

  • Pusey, I'll show you our our backup plan for that and then We'll just do like a a super basic like I know maybe a superposition or three D mark or something just to kind of measure the difference, because we're not going to get 100% of the 5760 performance out of the 5700 because it is.

  • There is a different amount of stream processors and such and bit rate for the memory and all that.

  • But we're going to get more performance, and we currently are out of this.

  • Apparently, that's what they say.

  • Anyway, Um, all I did was installed the driver.

  • You know, here's the thing we talked about like drivers and stuff and and how they suck so badly on a M D.

  • And everyone's like, No, they're going.

  • They age like buying wine.

  • Well, if you want fermented rotten wine because this is we don't make this up, we don't just do it for the sake of wanting to, like, complain and wine and argue about a card, it's This is legitimate.

  • This is Let's just say this is your your your first time buying an Andy graphics card, right?

  • And this is your experience.

  • You're just gonna be like my card's broke.

  • We expect more out of a nd I did was during launch center of the do reader way Got away gun correctable error a way we're up and running on here.

  • All we care about right now quite honestly is this bios amusing?

  • GPC from tech power up.

  • If I can save the bios, let's see if you'll be able to save it Hey, is gonna actually pull the bios?

  • Let's see.

  • So I'm just gonna go downloads Naveed 10.

  • Okay, I guess we'll call it that.

  • Hey did actually say the wrong.

  • So sometimes it won't save the rum.

  • There it is.

  • Sweet.

  • Okay, so now we have this Rahm.

  • If it hadn't been able to save it, you can actually take power up.

  • And they have, like, a full library of all the graphics cards and all the rums and stuff people users submit them, and then you would find the one that matches like your card, and then you could you could get it.

  • Or in this case, I would have found the vanilla one from M s I or radio directly or whatever.

  • So now we're gonna put our 5700 x t in there.

  • We're gonna load up.

  • Am these own utility for bio splashing?

  • And I'm not sure if it will or won't flash immediately because it's gonna recognize Okay, that's not the right one.

  • But there is a way to do it.

  • So we're gonna do the best we can to get up and running.

  • Otherwise, this is B a really short video of just one big fail from J.

  • All right, so we're gonna do the sealed fashion way Very similar to how envy link works.

  • Because obviously aimed, he's not gonna let you just flash willy nilly.

  • Any old Romney want any old card?

  • 5700 ext dot com.

  • No, it's not actually flashing.

  • Let me try this at a and e V b flash Sexy.

  • Okay.

  • Oh, when will be the Jew?

  • Y Yeah.

  • There we go.

  • All right.

  • That's what we're doing wrong.

  • Just take the win out.

  • They need to update that article win.

  • Clearly.

  • Like like Phil just said probably first to the windows.

  • Gooey one.

  • Which is this one right here and then clearly we just unlocked us.

  • Now.

  • I took the wind out up here and then let's see 5700 x t got from F option not support An external version cannot program with input V bios image file.

  • The public versions probably got a lot of these commands completely like, Shut off.

  • All right, so same thing is, before we just have a downloaded version now, which isn't the one that aimed he sent us.

  • So we should be able to actually start doing this now.

  • It's funny that it lets unlock the Rahm Noah.

  • So let's try this now and see if it will do it.

  • And then I copied the file there.

  • Just 100 ext.

  • Got wrong.

  • Says f option, not support an external way.

  • Just got the thinking.

  • The tech power a particle talks about using their version like this with the gooey and not these commands.

  • So instead of trying the prompt the command prompt, we're gonna go ahead now and just try this way.

  • Load image 760 program.

  • Hey, this could have been done in the 1st 30 seconds of this video.

  • Okay, If you use the one that AMG is putting public clearly, it's not gonna let you do it.

  • If you get the one that's on tech power up.

  • Find the link yourself.

  • I'm not gonna put the link down below.

  • Um, then you'll be ableto flash it.

  • Oh, Now this sort of brings up one of the potential problems of the idea of bios flashing to a higher tier card.

  • Although Andy is much more lenient with it, like in video, you can't take a 2070 and flash a 2080 bios to it like it usually will not work because the core itself is different and it and it won't work.

  • We tried in the past on brick cards.

  • We get him back, but it just doesn't work that way.

  • But with way bidding works.

  • If you never heard of binning is you've got the giant silicon wafer and that gets sliced up into the individual dies.

  • And it's all tested at the time of construction of the wafer.

  • And they all start out as the top tier card.

  • So the 5700 even the 55 hundreds out there technically started a attentional 5700 sixty's, and then the pieces of wafers have defects or they're not, um, up to the task of the higher tier card, then get tossed into another basket or a bin where?

  • Okay, these are all the 5700 sees performed to 5700 specs, but not X t s.

  • And then the things that didn't cut the new rating to be a 57 100 then go into the 5500 x t or 5600 whatever.

  • And those particular bins.

  • So that's how bidding works.

  • Sometimes it would be artificially been where things that perfectly meet the upper spec are locked and shaved and then turned into lesser card because they need inventory.

  • Right?

  • So that happens, too.

  • So basically that crash that you just saw, it could mean that with the extra limits, the extra core clock with the 5700 X t or its basic quality a ton of different things could be the factor, for some reason, caused that card with the's stock settings to crash.

  • So want to see now is if we get through this again, this kind of reminds me of the early days of some of the multi core Athlon stuff.

  • We'd have a next four in the next three or next to even where yeah, we crashed again.

  • So it's not looking like this one is gonna like it.

  • So I'm gonna try one other thing.

  • Once we get it back up, I'm gonna try under clocking a little bit.

  • Or maybe under maybe a little bit more voltage.

  • Actually, if it's trying to push the core farther than the 5700 is wanting to go, then without adding enough volts to it because that's what this is A better been it could potentially hit the higher clock in a lesser frequency or lesser voltage.

  • So now is where you got to start playing the game.

  • Remember, this was a 57 100 for a reason.

  • So we gotta find out what that reason?

  • Waas.

  • So we've made it past where it crashed last time.

  • And if you can get this card for 100 bucks less, but you can get pretty damn close to the performance of the higher end card and it's stable and you're willing to take the risk.

  • And this is this is the kind of stuff I like.

  • This is the kind of stuff you can go way back in the beginning of my channel and find me playing with the 77 eighties and flashing custom bios on that, writing my own bios even and then changing those tables and those p states on my own and then flashing them.

  • I miss Maxwell.

  • I miss Maxwell because you could do so much fun stuff with that in terms of being able to go in and customize your own bios and put it in there.

  • Hey, 48 98.

  • So we're from a 44 72 toe a 48 98.

  • So looking at my master spreadsheet here, the MDR X 5700 ext.

  • This guy right here scored a 5000 and 77 and that we just got a 4898.

  • That's only a couple of percent difference.

  • Remember, I increased the voltage slightly and reduce that core clock a little bit.

  • So let me see.

  • Now I'm curious as to whether or not 17 70.

  • So I'm doing a little over clock on the memory, and I'm raising the limit of the GPS turbo clock to 2100 and he's a little different.

  • It's not gonna gonna go right to that speed.

  • It's gonna target that speed.

  • And I also didn't even have power living increased writers were in increased power limit.

  • And I'm curious.

  • Now list if we can even match a 57 100 ext?

  • I'm sure someone watching this video right now is like, Yes.

  • Yes, you can.

  • People have made videos about this now for the last, like, five months.

  • J with that give you bid.

  • Well, not doing this, obviously.

  • So you could make sure that I don't forget because I'm old and gray hair 51 62.

  • So we technically passed a stock 5760.

  • And what's our temperature looked like right now at the end of the test 50.

  • So it Max temped at 69.

  • Let's try 2200 because member were only 2157 max.

  • So now we have to do power tables.

  • If we wanted to, like, let it go farther, But it's okay.

  • I'm going Now, go ahead and see.

  • And why don't you?

  • 17.

  • 75.

  • And it saved a 17 74.

  • Wait, wait.

  • 17 76 51 62.

  • Let's do it one more time.

  • See if it'll pass, and then we're gonna get the heck out of here so clearly we were this video started off a bit rocky.

  • It was like this.

  • J really know anything about bios flashing.

  • Well, I now know the tool that they're going to give you is like a light to do it.

  • But there's a free one that you could get online by going to tech power up, looking up a M d d.

  • Be flash and then you'll find it.

  • Oh, render manager Colin Colin create texture to de bracket.

  • Squiggly line can't create texture.

  • It's okay, though we still got 100 points higher than 5700 ext.

  • So there is that I do want to play around the idea of seeing if super non super cards can be flashed to super bios.

  • The problem is, in video smart, and they physically call the core something different, like they physically identify the core differently, which will mean even with like forcing and be flashed thio flash.

  • It probably won't work, and not only that India has started like fully encrypting their by their rums, which has made it very difficult for people to reverse engineer them.

  • But it has never stopped the mining community because when you have hundreds if not thousands of moderates out there, and then you have the team of video trying to lock it all down.

  • The moderate always win because there's just way more manpower there.

  • So yeah, okay for the tweaking community, not the drug community card.

  • All right, anyway, guys.

  • Yeah, we made it a 57 160 eh?

  • We got more than I can also bring out one other point.

  • Be careful when you buy used hardware because I have another one of this cooler shrouds just sitting right here.

  • And if I were a super shady person, I could take this cooler and this back plate, throw it on that card and just sell it.

  • And to someone that clearly doesn't know anything about computers, and then they would even put it in this box.

  • And then we go to G.

  • Pusey and look it up, and it would say 5760.

  • But until you look at, like, the memory bus and the band width and like all the texture units and all that sort of stuff, and then actually start comparing it to what it should show, it's gonna say on this, but it's gonna give you all the specs for the 5700.

  • If you're gonna buy a used graphics card from someone, tell them to take a screenshot of the tech power of Ji Pusey.

  • Like somehow with their name on it or whatever.

  • I don't know how you would even identify that, So All right.

  • Thanks for watching, guys.

  • We did it.

  • We're gonna flash it back because I don't want to accidentally use this card later on in the benchmark And we forgot we flashed it.

  • I'm gonna go ahead and fly.

  • Flash it back.

  • Thanks for watching guys.

  • We'll see you.

So there's one thing I've learned over the last graphics card launches that bio slashing once again a thing something I used to do way back in the day and to get some extra performance.
