  • Now, today we're talking about invidious GTX tight and black GPU that released for $1000 or £785 way back in 2014.

  • Now we can't talk about the Jew text tightened Black without, of course, talking about the original GTX titan on the GTX 78 E.

  • T.

  • I to high end or enthusiast cards that what ideal for very different things.

  • For example, the original Titan, with its $1000 price tag, was intended for more of those who wanted something of a workstation graphics card that was actually, at the time cheaper than some of the other hiring workstation cards out there.

  • In fact, it's estimated the only half of the original titans ever sold were actually used for gaming.

  • No, I can't confirm nor deny this.

  • It's just something I've read somewhere along the line.

  • Now the 7 80 t I, on the other hand, was a high end option that was more intended for gamers who wanted the absolute best frame rates from all of their favorite Triple eight titles.

  • Now both of these cars were released in 2013.

  • And if you were more of a game, as I say, you would have opted for the 7 80 t i.

  • If you weren't the Titan would have been the better bet.

  • Although, of course, it was more expensive.

  • Fast for the year 2014 on In Video decided they wanted to combine the best of both worlds on Dhe, of course, released the GTX Titan Black.

  • The title back took the 2880 coup because from the seven T.

  • T.

  • I, as well as the effective seven gigahertz memory frequency.

  • But the extra few frames you'd see in gaming it still didn't really seem like much of a worthy investment.

  • It was more of a statement just to say, I've got a Titan in my system as opposed to a boring old 7 80 t I.

  • Of which, of course, it's still a pretty decent card, even by today's standards.

  • So the Titan black should be as well right.

  • After all, thats picture double.

  • The amount of the ran on dhe should therefore be able to support and run all of the latest and greatest games, especially with the support for direct X 12 to.

  • The thing is, it's a lot more expensive than the F or mention 7 80 I even on today's used markets, and these still retail for around 3 to £400 or dollars.

  • In some instances, the cheapest one I could find was on C E x U K for just under 200 which may sound like a pretty good deal.

  • But it is really quite rare to find outside off the UK at this price or anywhere else in the UK for this price today.

  • I want to figure out why.

  • And to do that, we must first start by looking at the performance of this car.

  • So let's fire up a few modern Triple eight games and see how well this car handles them.

  • So moving on to the games.

  • And first of all, we have call of duty World War to a fairly new release in one of my favorite in the franchise are this, I believe, is last year's call of duty game.

  • But nonetheless, it can still be difficult to run on some hardware even here with the Titan black.

  • Although we were seeing pretty decent average frame rates, there were certainly some stutter on.

  • It was pretty horrific in some scenes, to the frame rate did drop quite a lot, and at some points it was rather off putting.

  • Now, turning down the settings will resolve this a little bit.

  • But there was still a few frames hiccups, as I like to call them here and there.

  • So just bear that in mind.

  • Should you have one of these cards and want to play this game next up?

  • We have far cry five and again, it was a pretty decent performance.

  • Now I chose a mix of all the settings.

  • I think normal probably would have been the best way to ensure 60 f.

  • B s.

  • But to get a bit more graphical quality out of the game itself turned a few things up too high.

  • We were able to achieve pretty close to 60 frames per second on average, with 56 at 10.

  • A teepee, of course, now ta was on in the settings menu.

  • This, in my opinion, makes the game appear a little blurrier, so it may be worth turning off.

  • Although in far Khor five, there are quite a few Jackie's on screen When you do this, so it's totally up to you what your personal preferences are.

  • It doesn't make that much of a performance difference I've noticed, but averaging just under 60 frames per second here with this now five year old card really wasn't a bad way to play this game.

  • It's all on.

  • There weren't many stutters to speak off, either, which is always a bonus.

  • Now it's probably the newest on today's games list, but just calls for while I'm having quite a lot of fun with at the moment, round pretty well as well with the medium settings now, just like just cause three, this game is pretty fun, and it actually feels very similar.

  • In fact, when I was a labeling, the benchmark results earlier accidentally label this one just cause three because it can be hard to tell the difference between this on the previous game.

  • In the Siri's, there is a little bit of a graphical improvement.

  • That being said, it hasn't been without its fair share of issues and I've certainly heard reports off pretty bad game play on lower end cart, so just bear that in mind.

  • Next up, we tried plant unknowns, battle grounds.

  • And again this ran pretty well 55 frames per second on average, with 10 80 p resolution and a mixture of settings.

  • Once again, as you can see by the 0.1% over here, the overall frame rate was quite good, although we did suffer a little bit of stuttering.

  • Now these primarily happened after jumping out of the plane at the start of a new game.

  • But once we were on the ground, things seemed to smooth out quite a bit and it was an overall okay, experience, I have to say with this game, No, I know.

  • I say every single time that pub DRI is receiving constant updates that often changes that performance.

  • So bear that in mind when referring to any benchmarks that being said, it shouldn't differ too much.

  • Finally, we have the toughest around game on the title back today, on one of the newest too.

  • This is shadow of the Tomb Raider.

  • Now this averaged just under 40 frames per second with a mixture of settings.

  • Although most things here were set too high now, selecting very high meant that we were averaging close to 30 frames per second and in some instances dropping way below that line, often down to the mid twenties.

  • This was direct text 12 as well.

  • Direct text 11 didn't perform that much differently, though.

  • I did notice a couple more dropped frames using the older A P I, as opposed to Microsoft's newest version.

  • The 1% important percent lows were pretty respectable and meant that we didn't see too much Stata.

  • The frame rate was pretty low overall, though, so I didn't notice any significant drops.

  • If you want at least 40 45 frames per second, then medium or even low would be the best that.

  • But I don't think you can retain a solid 60 f P s with the Titan black.

  • So actually saw that a Titan Black did a fairly good job of running all of those modern games.

  • But that still doesn't really answer the question as to why it's expensive.

  • And I don't think it's worth the 300 to £400 or dollar used price back in 2000 and 18 at all, especially when there's cards likely 7 80 t i out there still on the used market that go for a lot cheaper There's also modern alternatives to that.

  • You can pick up for a lot less money on dhe new cards.

  • In fact, that don't cost anywhere near this that will happily play most of your games with very nice frame rates ATF allegedly resolution on Beyond See, I think the title Black is still expensive because it's called a tighter, and that's all I can really think of it.

  • Also, one of those cards that will appeal to those in a professional environment even today on this sort of used price tag reflects that.

  • For example, we've taken a look at a brand new workstation cards in the past that retail for a lot more than their gaming desktop counterparts.

  • And this is because companies like video and a nd know that professionals or businesses will pay a lot more for these cards because of what they caught on what they're intended for.

  • But as general users gamers, we know that these cars aren't necessarily better.

  • They're just priced higher because they know people will buy them on a lot of the used market sellers who are still telling the tight and blacks, I think know this too, and it was still attract certain target audiences.

  • Regardless, there in the real world or for gamers, it makes no sense to purchase one of these in 2018.

  • At least that's just my opinion.

  • I mean, that's not to rule it out completely, because if you do find one at a pretty decent price like the one at UK that we've, I don't come.

  • That still sounds like a fairly decent deal.

  • But of course you are still using a fairly old architecture now, and you may as well just go out and buy a brand new 10 66 gig.

  • If I'm being totally honest.

  • That being said, I hope you've enjoyed this.

  • Look back at the Titan Black.

  • What it's capable of with a few modern games and just because of cards old and may not seem like the best option anymore doesn't mean it's not an exciting one to check out with.

  • That said, I hope you've enjoyed today's video.

  • If you did leave a lock on it.
