  • yesterday actually uploaded one of my favorite videos if ever uploaded on the channel doesn't really go with the common theme is just a regular fun ROV log of going to pick up puppy talk of my new business, whatever.

  • But today we're gonna be going over what I carry in my backpack on my day job is a software engineer.

  • Now, this is gonna be similar to the video I created maybe a couple of years ago where I went over what I carried to my computer.

  • So as a computer science student, and as you may notice, this is the same exact backpack.

  • A lot of stuff on the inside is the same.

  • Exact.

  • Not a lot has really changed since then, but I figured out given update anyway, probably be getting a new backpack here.

  • Here shortly maybe.

  • But one thing that I want to point out is that there are a lot of videos that do something similar to this like they go over there every day bag or what have you and they add in a lot of fluff.

  • I'm not adding in any fluff.

  • This is what is actually in my backpack as opposed to some of the trash just put out of it a second ago.

  • Not add again anything extra, just so you can use my affiliate links to buy those extra things in the description, which I don't even know if there's anything worth linking in the description.

  • But if there is, I'll take it in the description with some filly links.

  • I'm here to be really here.

  • To be honest, I'm not here to blow smoke, so let's go ahead and get started First off the backpack Now I talked about the backpack and a lot of detail, essentially, how I got it for free by going to the surf shop and so on and so forth.

  • I also got a free town and a free $700 surfboard.

  • Now, if you want to hear that story, check out the computer science version of this video that I have led a couple years ago.

  • Backpack.

  • Not really anything special.

  • It's just everything that I need.

  • It's basically two pockets in the front.

  • You'll see one of the bottom one in the middle and then a big pocket that can fit a 15 inch laptop.

  • That's all I need for back inside this wonderful backpack.

  • What you'll find is a 15 inch laptop.

  • I'm gonna put this off to the side for the time being.

  • Now this is inside a simple It was on basics case just to serve as a little bit of extra protection, as I don't want anything bad to happen to this laptop.

  • It is a del inspire on 16 gigabytes of Ram, I think like a terabyte of storage, and I'm not even sure Then tell process.

  • Now on this, I can really go into a lot of detail what I use this for.

  • Obviously, I use this for my day job, but I run windows on this computer and on Windows, which I really don't like.

  • But some clients need us tow, have windows.

  • It's it's not a fun thing to deal with, but I run a virtual machine, essentially hosts my entire development environment, where I have a boon to on my virtual machine and on that boon to I have everything I need My Eclipse V s code, all everything that I have installed that I can easily access on the command line that's in here within the virtual machine.

  • Now, item number two is this notebook.

  • Now, I used to have a notebook that had calendars in and whatnot, and those were actually incredibly helpful at calendars.

  • And everything was day by day.

  • However, Molly bought me this.

  • And this thing is absolutely perfect.

  • Basically, it is a cool leather book.

  • Yeah, I guess we'll just call it a book.

  • And it just has a bunch of lines, so I can just write anything whenever.

  • One thing I do make sure I do over here is I write down the date in the upper right hand corner because I always want to know what the day is in terms of what I have going on here.

  • And I write down just basically everything that has to do with work at work.

  • I normally used the right side page for my work stuff and then my left side page.

  • If work overflows into that page, fine.

  • But I will always a list off my personal stuff like my YouTube stuff.

  • If I come up with an idea or if I have anything that I need to do afterward, I write that down on this side, has a nice little whatever you call this like a tassel, so I could just close it up on this.

  • Oh, something I didn't mention is that I always keep a nice little pen that serves as a bookmark.

  • Are really like this pain.

  • It is a uni ball vision.

  • Fine pen.

  • Gonna put that right back in there so I don't lose my spot and forth E big pocket.

  • That is it.

  • That is absolutely it.

  • I have nothing else in the big pocket on a regular basis.

  • Sometimes I'll throw a camera in there or something.

  • But I don't like to throw this camera or even a GoPro in there because it was around.

  • I probably need another backpack for that.

  • But we're gonna be diving into this zipper right here.

  • I just have a lot of little random things.

  • Starting off with writing utensils.

  • I have a highlighter that I never use.

  • I have a pencil that I also never use.

  • Then I have two extra pins that I will sometimes use.

  • This one was free, and this one is kind of like a This is a micron.

  • So this is kind of like a drawing pin, if you will, But I have all those in there just in case.

  • Thing number two.

  • I don't know how much of this I can show you.

  • Let's just let's just go with this.

  • That's me if you can tell.

  • And it is a pass for me to get into the Norfolk Southern Building, considering they're one of our clients.

  • So I did used to work at Norfolk Southern as an intern, and now they're one.

  • My clients.

  • One of my companies claims that's pretty cool.

  • I keep sunglasses in here.

  • Not that I ever wear sunglasses.

  • I feel like I always forget to wear sunglasses, but let's see this.

  • This is an anarchy case that serves a sunglass cleaner.

  • But inside I have some ray bands that I traded my oldest brother, Hunter for, uh, old $100 surfboard.

  • So $100 surfboard for $150 a pair of sunglasses.

  • Not a bad dream.

  • I have a lighter because tools you can always use a lighter.

  • I always keep a, uh, a pocket knife on my hip, just in case I ever need a pocket knife.

  • This is one of those you know, one of those car pocket knifes, if you will.

  • So you have the knife.

  • It's like 15 $20.1.

  • Then you have a seat belt cutter case.

  • You're upside down and you can't take off your seatbelt, then a glass breaker.

  • That is what this deal is right up here.

  • I figured since we're gonna be talking about tools like the lighter fuck about that, then I have some hand sanitizer Just because I have a little wall outlet, I keep a iPhone charger in my car.

  • So if I ever need to bring that in and I don't want to play it into us be, I'll just have this, I guess for anything, really, if I want to get my camera phone a plug in my iPhone for wanna plug in my go pro and then I have two sets of headphones right here.

  • I have an old raggedy hair of like power beats or whatever they're called power of eats these air old, but they do the job.

  • This is what I use on my laptop, for the most part because I just like the way these work with Windows and this I always keep hooked up to my phone.

  • These are the air pods, not the air pots, too.

  • But the regular airpods I really do like these and all.

  • Honestly, I wanted to create an app that essentially there was a job broken out for this gave you Mork commands.

  • Because when it comes to these headphones right here, you're able to do like a double tap a triple tap.

  • Be able to go up on volume down on volume.

  • This you could only have Siri, which sure can do a lot of things like turn up to turn down.

  • I don't want to be in my office and say, Hey, Siri, can you turn down?

  • And then I just don't like That's not comfortable for me.

  • I wanted to be able to enable, like, triple tap, quadruple tap, whatever.

  • Instead, they just have a double time double tap.

  • That's it.

  • But I wasn't able to gain root access to the iPhone, which prohibited me from creating that particular application without a job.

  • Rick, uh, I could go into detail about that future video, but I just know I tried.

  • Now we're moved on to the very last pocket.

  • The little bottom pocket that no longer.

  • I'm not even sure what's in here.

  • Okay, so we have a lens case.

  • So if we open this up, this is a lens cleaner.

  • The camera lens cleaner.

  • The one that you're looking for right now you can Let's go this way.

  • You can throw the lens right into this little pocket right here.

  • And you can serve years this as a lens cleaner itself.

  • So scrub a dub, dub the front in case you get any fingerprints on it or what have you.

  • And then I have this thing in here.

  • As you can see, there's a little beard right there, especially when I grow my beard.

  • You know, just in case a lot of times when I'm sitting at the office at my desk.

  • So a lot of times I like fiddle with my beard.

  • I'll be really unhappy with how it feels or how it looks or something.

  • Although I'm not really looking at myself like if you have a beard, you know what I mean.

  • Because like you could feel it, you could just feel like sometimes just not your day having something like this where you can just kind of be working or reading.

  • You're just able to go through your beard like so just makes a world of difference.

  • Maybe it's just me, but that's it.

  • That is exactly what I bring to work on a day to day basis.

  • What stays in my backpack?

  • That is my backpack.

  • Hope you guys enjoyed this video tomorrow.

  • I think it it'll be tomorrow, if not tomorrow, then the next day.

  • I want to take you on a little day in the life of our regular day in the life of a software engineer.

  • I figured that would the appropriate to follow this video so state over that, be sure to subscribe.

  • So you get notified of hit the bell?

  • Because I think I've been told a lot of y'all aren't getting my notifications.

  • My wife isn't even getting notifications for some of the bell stuff.

  • Plus, she's not seeing me.

  • And some of the, uh, in this description box, which is weird.

  • But if you hit the bell, subscribe and just hopefully you'll get notified that my video is out.
