  • I want to talk about "Miracle Workers: Dark Ages."

  • Congrats on this. -Thank you so much.

  • -Very funny, very well-written show.

  • -I love Simon Rich. -Yeah, he's great.

  • -He's brilliant. But this is Season 2.

  • And in the first season, you play God.

  • -Yeah, it's a little confusing. It's an anthology show.

  • So, in the first season, it all took place in heaven.

  • Daniel Radcliffe played a lone angel in the prayers department.

  • And I played a very disinterested

  • and sort of inept God.

  • -Yeah. -That was my character.

  • But the second season, same actors,

  • so Daniel Radcliffe again and me and a great cast,

  • but now this is set in the Dark Ages.

  • I am no longer God.

  • -Who do you play in this season?

  • -I play the town [bleep] shoveler.

  • And my name is Eddie [Bleep]shoveler.

  • -That just happens to be your name.

  • -And I shovel [bleep]

  • I'm just gonna keep saying [bleep] over and over.

  • -You're allowed to say that, yeah.

  • You just can't say "shovel." That's what we're bleeping out.

  • -Oh, "shovel," okay.

  • [ Laughter ]

  • -What a demotion. You've gone from God to --

  • -Well, no, I think it's a step up in a way,

  • because he's got such an important job.

  • You know, and he's -- -Well, I guess so.

  • -Yeah, and he's proud of what he does.

  • And he's got a family.

  • And he's a pillar of the community.

  • And people like him.

  • -See? That's -- I love that about you.

  • [ Cheers and applause ]

  • That's the one thing I do --

  • one of the many things I love about you.

  • I run into you at different charity events,

  • and you do a lot for the firefighters

  • and stuff like that.

  • Did you come from a blue-collar family?

  • -Yeah, yeah, well, my dad was --

  • he was a sanitation worker for 30 years.

  • -He was? Wow. -Yeah, yeah.

  • So he was very big on civil service.

  • And he made me and my brothers

  • take whatever civil service exam came up when we were 18.

  • And so I was lucky.

  • It was the fire department, and I was even luckier to pass.

  • And I did that for a few years. -Absolutely.

  • -And now I help out with Friends of Firefighters,

  • which is an organization that provides mental health services

  • and other services to firefighters.

  • And it's great, you know, to be able to help and to give back.

  • -Yeah. [ Cheers and applause ]

  • What more can I say? I love this guy.

  • He's a great actor, and he's nice, and he's super funny.

  • I want to show everyone a clip.

  • Here's Steve Buscemi in "Miracle Workers: Dark Ages."

  • Be real quiet.
