  • everybody.

  • Welcome back to flag slash fan Friday.

  • Hope you like the Philippines episode.

  • As you know, there's the part where we talk about the small mistakes made in the video or things that didn't quite make it into the video.

  • And there's quite a bit.

  • So I guess the biggest mistake was there a lot of spelling errors and pronunciation errors.

  • I'm not pin noise, so give me a break and can grow up here in the U.

  • S.

  • So I'll give him a break to also a fun fact in real life can.

  • It's actually taller than me, but in the video he had to kind of crouch down a little bit.

  • So anyway, some things we missed out in the video include things like, One thing that happened the day we uploaded the video Star City caught on fire.

  • Yeah, the whole amusement park that was going on in the day up.

  • So dang otherwise can What is a jeepney?

  • Kind of like a bus taxi, famous looking, a lot of colors.

  • A lot of people go in there, they travel.

  • You kind of like it just goes in one ear out.

  • It's like Filipino uber.

  • Yes, I gotta get a better mike.

  • At one point, they found a £14 pearl that went for $40 million.

  • The Philippines is well known for doing a lot of code switching.

  • Switching between Tagalog English, you confined in a lot of dope operas.

  • And, like Super Super Mom at a majority of Filipino households, every single kitchen that you walk into you will find the last Supper for mostly for Catholic reasons or dining table, a dining table that, yeah, that room, the place where you eat.

  • I just had so much memories like, Oh, bring your violin.

  • You didn't get your Balint.

  • It's Bring your lunch.

  • It's like bringing food to your workplace or school.

  • It's like your snack sack Tupperware Tupperware bag.

  • One interesting thing in some certain areas of the Philippines, they actually re enact the crucifixion of Christ.

  • Yeah, I believe some of them actually do like pierce skin, and it gets a little bloody.

  • But yeah, you guys take that stuff seriously.

  • Yeah, we go hard.

  • By the way, Christmas is celebrated all the way from like September 2, Epiphany, which is one of the longest Christmas celebrations in the world.

  • One thing Filipinos have in common with Mexicans.

  • They all use Vicks vapor rub.

  • Yes, it is the universal remedy.

  • If you have a cold, use VIX If you broke your leg, use vics.

  • One thing I really wanted to mention was Kali, one of the native indigenous martial art forms in the Philippines.

  • A lot of times it uses two sticks at once.

  • They have a lot of other indigenous sports as well.

  • We didn't quite have enough time to mention them, but I wish we could have.

  • That's just about it.

  • Now we're gonna jump into the flag.

  • So without further do you see Oh, Theo the Philippines Episode cannibal was your favorite part.

  • O the Bob, Of course Can Kim can go wrong with Baba Baba Ba?

  • Yeah, My favorite part was when I ate paella book.

  • So anyway, let's talk about the flag.

  • The flag of the Philippines is a horizontal by collar with two stripes, one being royal blue.

  • The other one crimson red on the hoist side is an equal lateral white triangle with three stars in each of the corners and an eight point it's sun in the middle.

  • Finally, you were supposed to be in the Filipino episode.

  • Hey, look, it's already past you.

  • Yes, Mom.

  • Hello.

  • Let's go back to the flag.

  • The blue stands for peace, truth and justice.

  • The red stands for patriotism and valor.

  • Sorry can no animation this week, Whereas the white in the triangle stands for liberty, equality and fraternity.

  • The triangle shape signifies the emblem off the fatty poon on the secret society that oppose the Spanish rule.

  • The three stars represent the main island clusters of the Philippines, Luzon, D, SIAs and Mindanao.

  • And finally, the sun symbolizes the eight provinces that revolted against the Spanish during the Spanish Revolution.

  • They are Manila bullock con Dar lock cavity Bopanna, whoever clia Laguna and Batangas now keep in mind.

  • In the past, they did have quite a few other flags, whether it was under revolution or republic or colonialism.

  • First was the Spanish and then two years there the UK, we're trying to get in on it.

  • But they couldn't and they failed so that it went back to Spade.

  • And then there was, like, a revolutionary thing going.

  • Yeah, then America took over, and then Japan called.

  • Putin was the three anti Spaniard colonialism not to be confused with the Ku Klux Klan at all.

  • Basically, the point is Spanish, mostly 50 years American.

  • Then they have their own thing.

  • So there you go, coat of arms now go toe to toe are Jeez, I don't take this seriously When you hear Ken.

  • The coat of arms of the Philippines is very similar to the flag you have the same elements included.

  • It's basically a shield divided into three sections with a centerpiece, obviously containing the colors of the flag, the blue, the red and the white with the same sun and stars symbolizing the exact same things as the flag.

  • But then you go to the bottom left corner and the right corner, and you see two images the left one containing the North American bald eagle of the United States on the blue and on the red, the lion of Leon.

  • Both of these symbolized the former colonial powers that used to take over the Philippines being the U.

  • S.

  • A.

  • And Spain.

  • Underneath is a ribbon with the words republic, cotton, Petey Penis, which of course, means Republic of the Philippines.

  • There is an alternate image off the coat of arms, which does not contain the animals in the blue and red stripes.

  • But for now, the official one does contain them.

  • They have a lot of other coat of arms.

  • In the past, when Spain colonized, they had their version of the coat of arms in America colonized.

  • They had their version of the coat of arms when Japan also colonized.

  • They also had their version of the coat of arms.

  • So a lot of different versions of the coat of arms.

  • That's just about it.
