That's really quite amazing in 1998 Aggressive Rollerblading.

You probably have heard of it if you're old enough.

If not, you don't even know what I'm talking about.

I'm David Hoffman, filmmaker, and I made a feature documentary about aggressive Rollerbladers in 1998 and this is a clip from that, and this shows the New Yorkers.

Now let me just tell you a little bit of background.

So in 1993 9 million kids were rollerblading in line skating.

There were competitions that we're headed towards the Olympics.

X Games had a whole section on aggressive rollerblading.

They were stars who made 500 1000 a 1,000,000 more.

It was an amazingly growing sport that died.

I'm going to tell you about that after the clip.

So this guy in Silicon Valley, one of the Silicon Valley, great entrepreneurs.

His son is a Rollerblade ER, and he wants to make a documentary, and the kid never made one.

So the guy says to me, Look, I'll pay for the documentary, you make it, and if you use my son, that would be much appreciated.

Of course it's a dream for filmmaker to get the money to make a film, But for me to make a film, I have to like the characters.

And what did I know about these guys after I studied them?

They made fun of pretty much school, and everything else involved intelligence.

When you're 16 you gotta learn a craft, learn a skill that was a negative.

And I had to find it or it could not make the movie will.

They weren't the athletes there with the big muscle men.

They were mostly little guys and they were stars.

They were athletic in their own space, and the world was starting to look at them.

These boys on one of the girls look for skill, finesse and courage.

So there's a lot of blood, a lot of broken heads and broken knees because these guys have approved themselves and I saw a lot of injuries shocking.

They knew they were gonna get hurt without a helmet.

Stupidest damn thing in the world, but they didn't wear helmets.

Okay, I find what's good about him, and I understand what's bad.

The essay, The American Skaters Association has a big competition in Florida, and two of the great teams are New York and L.

New York Street Guys Puerto Rican and Dominican Republic out Salvador mostly, but also whites and lower class poor kids come out of streets skating the streets of New York.

He's a tough guys and they're real New Yorkers, and I'm a New Yorker.

Making a mint, beautiful blonde, South Southern California boys.

Upper class, lots of money and girls and everything, totally different cultures.

You're about to see the New York culture.

R fR has some real stars, some guys who are making a lot of money.

Terrific People treated me beautifully, and this is their story.

This is what made their culture, why this didn't become massive.

After the clip, What became of these guys at me and the movie?

There are a lot of companies bigger than that far, but that far was there for us first.
