DEBORAH BORDA: Grammy-winning vocal ensemble Roomful of Teeth

will join the New York Philharmonic for a two week

and taking over both of the Philharmonic's new music

of the most versatile and adventurous vocal organizations

not just in the United States, but in the world.

And it's about thinking of all the different corners

we can bend the New York Philharmonic to fit.

The takeover will culminate in the world premiere

by founding member and Pulitzer Prize-winner Caroline

They will also perform in the Kravis Nightcap

CAROLINE SHAW: I've been singing in Roomful of Teeth

And since the beginning, I began writing music

And all the music that we sing, or most of it

has been written specifically for these eight singers.

will also premiere a new work by Angelica Negron, on a Grow

It Annenberg Sound On Concert on the theme of music

with nonsense lyrics, hosted and curated by Kravis Creative

by Ligeti, which is all about sort of communicative nonsense.

It's all sort of surrounding this idea of phonemes

and sounds that feel like they're telling you things,

feel like a specific language, and yet it's not.

It's just kind of beyond our grasp of understanding.
