  • When the sun is near the horizon

  • sunlight travels through a greater depth of atmosphere

  • reducing the intensity of direct light

  • illuminating the scenery with indirect light instead

  • this reddish softer light that comes in the morning or evening

  • as the sun rises and sets

  • is called the golden hour, or magic hour

  • if you're a photographer you might already be familiar with the phrase

  • but if you're like me

  • you probably enjoy sleeping in far too much to have ever really experienced it

  • and aside from the gorgeous lighting

  • another plus to getting up early

  • is running into animals of all shapes and sizes

  • they're more likely to be out and about when there's less people around

  • We visited one of the most renowned picture spots

  • in all of the Canadian Rockies,

  • Lake Louise

  • in the dead of the afternoon,

  • here you can find travellers from all over the world

  • taking turns on the dock, waiting for their chance

  • to take ~the~ Lake Louise photograph

  • After a quick meeting

  • we decided to return at dawn and hope that the warm morning light

  • would offer a more unique version of the Lake Louise landscape

  • I would put a video here but

  • I didn't wake up.

  • Chasing the evening light rays across highways

  • surrounded by the towering rocky mountains

  • was one of my favorite things about this entire trip

  • lighting can really change the way we see everything

  • and nature is no exception

  • we may not be able to control natural lighting

  • but

  • if we work alongside it we can create some really

  • beautiful collaborations with the earth.
