  • Hey guys! So if you follow me on other social media, you know that I'm actually back in Korea now

  • I'm still working through editing all the videos from my trip through Japan

  • So there's still lots more of those coming. But today is actually a really fun day and I wanted to vlog it for you

  • I'm here today with Greg and we're having his little birthday celebration and I'm actually going somewhere

  • really awesome later that I've been wanting to go ever since I moved to Korea and I finally - it's gonna happen today!

  • It's gonna happen. I keep it a little surprise until later. Happy very late birthday Greg!

  • When was your birthday actually? - November 17th But because I was in Japan at the time we couldn't celebrate it together

  • So we're doing that today. We've come too...Well, it's my favorite restaurant

  • And I know Greg loves it too. It's actually a vegan restaurant. Highly recommend their burger!

  • So if you come to Seoul do check out "Plant" - but let's eat I'm starving

  • Are you hungry? - Starving. So I got the new menu item, which is actually an irish stew

  • It looks like something my grandma would make - it looks really delicious

  • I can't wait to try that and Greg always gets the same thing. What did you get Greg? - Chili-cheese fries in the chili-cheeseburger

  • (Sharla) Chili cheese everything - Chili chese everything.

  • Red velvet, I've never had this one and there's a cathair on it. Sorry. That's definitely from me - present from Maro

  • Happy birthday. And I got the hummingbird cake, my friend Megan's recommendation

  • She always raves about the hummingbird cake. I had never heard of hummingbird cake until I talked to Megan

  • Tastes like banana bread with a coconut whipped cream on top

  • How was lunch, did you like it? - Yesss! ... I loved it

  • The red velvet cake wasn't exactly what he was expecting. - Yeah again, oh..

  • Well, it's hard to replicate it exactly cuz this is a vegan. It's like a hundred percent vegan

  • Restaurant so they can't put cream cheese - I think it's just a lack of something...Korea is lacking something

  • Yeah, like all the cakes even

  • like regular bakeries. It's like they don't spice them enough or so - let's go

  • It's like there's never enough nutmeg and cinnamon in the carrot cake. It is frustrating cuz it's so close, but it's not there. - Yess!

  • But! I'm just happy that Korea has carrot cake at all because Japan doesn't and - You can't find it anywhere Nooo and

  • Carrot cake is probably my favorite type of cake

  • Carrot cake, zucchini cake, I like cakes and vegetables...apparently

  • but yeah, Japan doesn't have it and I really missed it. So, it's cool that we could get it anywhere in Korea

  • really. We're gonna head to a cafe down the road now called "a twosome place"

  • It's a really weird name, but it's one of my favorite chain cafes in Korea

  • They have really nice desserts and their drinks are really nice as well and they do soy milk

  • Soy milk for all their lattes and stuff. So I really like that

  • I got an iced earl grey they use TWG-tea here, which I had never heard of

  • until one of you guys very generously sent me some in the mail a couple years ago, and I love it. Greg got:

  • simply hot chocolate

  • With bread?!

  • Well like a scone or... - Oh okay, yeah okay

  • I was like, you like dipping toast in it or something?! The fuck?

  • Okay open your card! - Okay

  • You know what it is? - Is this for the same place we went to?

  • Yeah! Greg and I went to make an appointment at my nail salon

  • We were gonna go together and get our nails done. Like he's never had his nails professionally done

  • But they didn't have an open time that would work with Greg's schedule so...

  • I got you a gift certificate so you can go whenever you want or we can go together. It's good for years

  • Okay yes...I cannot wait

  • Back home for a bit gonna get some editing done before I go out to the event today, which I'm super excited for

  • Warning you in advance. There will be lots of fangirling in this vlog

  • So I've got lots of videos left from the Japan trip to edit. Are you guys enjoying them so far?

  • I really hope you are I had such a blast and I hope that's coming across in the videos

  • And I also really hope that it's giving you lots of places to add to your bucket list for when you visit Japan

  • there were so many cool spots on our trip and

  • Yeah lots of new stuff for me too. So it was very exciting. I'm also starting Hungarian this week

  • I posted on Twitter that it's one of my new year's resolutions. Two things

  • I want to do next year are: bring my Hungarian back up to a level where I can have a conversation with my grandpa

  • And most people they only make bread

  • Once a month, maybe five six, kilo each (Sharla) the bread?!

  • (Sharla) Say it in Hungarian - Lángos

  • (practicing saying "Lángos")

  • Say it again (Sharla) Lángos

  • That's better (explains better pronunciation)

  • (Sharla) Smile!

  • And then my second goal was to start playing piano again

  • I played a lot of piano when I was younger and I miss it. It's lots of fun

  • So I think I'm gonna get myself an electric piano and get back into playing again. Today's video is sponsored by Skillshare

  • I worked with them before and I really liked their website

  • So I'm happy to share it with you guys Skillshare is an online learning community with over

  • 25,000 different classes that you guys can choose from to learn new skills, like design or business or

  • languages. There's lots of Japanese stuff on there and I was really stoked when I saw that they had a Hungarian course

  • It's a really simple course taught by a hungarian woman, which is cool because my teacher in university was male

  • So it's nice to have a female voice to copy. I know I've got several hungarian viewers

  • So I'm gonna get you guys to tell me how I'm doing. I'll test some of my hungarian with you in a second here

  • Skillshare is gonna give away a two-month free trial to the first

  • 500 of you guys that sign up using the link in my description box and then if you decide to continue on with a subscription

  • afterwards it's only about ten dollars a month. So consider signing up and getting a head start on your New Year's resolutions

  • like I am.

  • Okay. Are you guys ready for me to butcher some hungarian?

  • Here we go. I'll do the numbers 1 to 10 for you. And hungarian viewers: please tell me what I can improve on.

  • Hungarian's a pretty difficult language. Apparently, it's one of the most difficult languages in the world

  • It doesn't really resemble any other

  • languages but I have the motivation to learn it because I really want to be able to speak with my grandpa in hungarian

  • So that's pushing me to - to try really hard. Alright guys

  • I'm gonna get some editing done and then in a couple hours

  • We'll be off to Hongdae to go to an event and I'll tell you guys what it is when we get there

  • So I'll see you again very soon.

  • Hey guys, I'm in Hongdae now, rushing

  • because the place I'm going I need to be there in, like now

  • The surprise is, that I am on my way to see a free concert by...

  • one of my two favorite

  • Korean artists there is two that I really like. I love lots of Korean music. I like kpop

  • I like all styles of Korean music really, but there's two artists that I really love: g-dragon and

  • Junoflo.

  • It's not g-dragon

  • But it's the next best thing. We're going to see Junoflo live

  • He has a concert in front of a store here in Hongdae today. It starts at 6 p.m. and it's like

  • Almost 6 p.m. now

  • 5:58...so shit. The station was so crowded. I've never seen so many people there Hongdae like the

  • Shibuya of Seoul if you've been to Japan if you want to compare it to a Japanese area there is young people everywhere

  • It's like the fun place to hang out at nighttime on the weekend.

  • I found a shortcut

  • Almost there. Apparently it's right in front of the area where all the street performers are so I know where that is. Now, I'm going

  • luckily. So I'm assuming lots of you don't know who Junoflo is. I first heard of him on the singing competition the Korean singing

  • competition show "show me the money". It's like American Idol

  • But Korean and for hip-hop and rap

  • he was on season 5 and

  • I really liked him since then and he just started to get popular recently because he signed with the label here

  • Now he's living in Seoul

  • He's actually from America California but his career is really picking up here in Seoul now, and he's getting super popular

  • So it's probably gonna be lots of people crowded around this free concert tonight. I hope I get to see him

  • That's where I played darts in my other video. Do you remember? I made it we're here in front of?

  • MC Atmos is where he's supposed to be so I'm assuming you got there somewhere in front of the crowded people

  • Gonna try to weasel my way in there. Right, now that I can stop panicking. So he is a Korean American

  • Rapper if you guys want a song to listen to I recommend that you check out "panorama"

  • I think you'll all like it even if your not into rap or if you not into Korean music. It's really catchy

  • Just the flow of his rap style is really cool. It's really original. His voice is really unique, too. I think that's what I like most about him

  • and he's really good-looking, let's be honest

  • ? ~

  • Make some noise how y'all doin?

  • Okay, y'all need to help me cuz I have a cold right now. My voice is not up to par

  • (Lyrics)

  • ? ~

  • ? ~

  • Well, that was awesome that was even better than I expected

  • Bizzy and Tiger JK showed up and they did lots of songs that I knew

  • Unfortunately Junoflow didn't do "panorama". That's too bad. But he was forwarding his new single

  • So that makes sense. There's so many people in Hongdae right now. I've never seen it this busy

  • It's crazy

  • Lots of Christmas lights it's really nice here.

  • I am home

  • It's nice to be in a warm house. It was so cold out there

  • Do you guys want to say hi to the cats before I finish the vlog here?

  • I feel like you guys haven't seen the cats in a long time Maro, you want to say hi to everyone?

  • How's it going, we're you sleeping?

  • Were you sleeping?

  • Look at your eyes they're so pretty

  • Where's your sister?

  • What are you doing in the garbage? Was that your house? Did someone throw it away?

  • Do you want me to make it for you again?

  • Sleepy face.

  • All right guys, I'm gonna say goodnight here. Probably the next video will be going back to the Japan roadtrip series

  • So look forward to that. Thanks so much for watching this vlog and I'll see you guys again very soon. Bye!
