  • Oh my god, oh my god

  • Good morning, guys, welcome back to the vlogs from our journey across Japan

  • We're currently on our way to Himeji yesterday was kind of our day off

  • We rented a log cabin on top of mount Rokko in Kobe

  • And it was just really really cool. We had a really nice time. We kind of just be relaxed

  • We got some editing done. We lots of really good food. We went to a cafe on top of the mountain and

  • Enjoyed one of the top three night views in all of Japan, apparently. It was it was really nice, but it started to pour rain

  • Unfortunately, and now we're on our way to Himeji. We're gonna go to Himeji castle today. We're currently stopped in front of Akashi

  • Kaikyo Ohashi. It's one of the longest suspension bridges in the world. I think it's 3.991 meters

  • or something ridiculous. The view is epic. But it's so windy - that's why I'm inside vlogging in the car

  • The boys are having some bike trouble at the moment, unfortunately, but I think they might have figured out what the problem is

  • Behind the scenes of Ryotaro's Instagram.

  • Yeah like with this angle

  • Is that your angle? Yeah? - No, no I don't think so

  • We already had, like one person

  • Who's like so sticky to the angle and it we don't need anymore - Ryotaro is good from all angles, right?

  • Yeah, 360 degrees proof.

  • I have the all important job of waiting with the bicycles while the boys go film. I was down there

  • filming some shots of the bridge and this kid was fishing and he flung a bunch of bait onto my arm

  • and I don't have any way to wash it off. I feel really disgusting, right?

  • Oh my god

  • It's a shame, it's such such a gorgeous view

  • but the fish bait on my arm smells really bad

  • He's stressing, I'm stretching

  • You're not stretching at all, - I'm filming you stretching. Well just go ahead

  • I want the people to see this

  • We're back in the car

  • I'm wiping the fish guts off my arms, and we're off to meet Chris and Ryotaro at their next biking point

  • Well first we need to go to the bike shop and try and fix Chris's bike because it looks like it's properly

  • Messed up, but I don't think he's gonna be able to use it anymore

  • He actually had to rent a road bike and that's what he is cycling on today

  • Everyone wanted him to get a road bike. It's finally happening. So I guess we'll see if that one's actually better

  • We stopped by the Asahi soft drink factory to film a clip for Chris's video and I found some shirts for my dad

  • my dad actually brews beer. So I got him some Asahi beer shirts. I think he's gotta like them

  • I'm gonna have to find a post office to send them to him. Hopefully we can do that soon.

  • I was lucky

  • We've made it to Himeji castle. I've never been here before. It looks very underwhelming with this lens, but it's quite beautiful

  • We just missed the sunset

  • unfortunately, that would have made for some really nice photos, but

  • it's really, really pretty here. Nice area not too many people either

  • So many cats here

  • 1...2...3...4...5...6...7

  • 8...8 cats

  • 9...10...11

  • Right guys, we're all heading back to the hotel now for the night

  • Not much happened spent most of the day trying to fix the bike

  • which ultimately

  • was unfixable.

  • Tomorrow we're going to start back at the castle and then cycle to...

  • ...forget the name of the city

  • It will be a surprise for both of us. I'll see you guys again soon.

  • Good morning guys day two of our Himeji adventure

  • We went out last night and we walked around town. It's a really nice little town

  • It's actually not that little I think Chris looked up the population. It was like half a million

  • 500.000

  • It's quite a large town

  • But the area we were in was kind of...it felt really chill like Nakano Broadway

  • Actually, there was an under like a roofed arcade with lots of really nice

  • We had old-school Japanese food for dinner like really cheap.

  • Yakisoba - Yeah like soba, everything was like under 500 yen What else did everyone pick

  • Takoyaki

  • Omurice, although like basic Japanese foods for really cheap Okonomiyaki was $3

  • Can't believe that - We couldn't believe it

  • Himeji is really cool I wish we had more time to walk around town

  • The boys are gonna be doing their cycle and they're gonna be going to see some things

  • But I'll be in the car today going ahead of you guys. How are your legs?

  • What? Oh, yeah a bit, yes

  • yesterday like we had some troubles right like, you know your butt

  • Yesterday was a disaster! - Disaster, like you know

  • Chris's bike was half destroyed. Yeah my bike...like the chain came off

  • Chris's bike is total they can't even use it anymore

  • We needed to get him a replacement - Exactly now he's on a road bike instead of the mountain bike. - I like having suspension because I don't know

  • I've always ridden a mountain bike. So I like suspension. I just think it's fun. I think I go for bumps and stuff

  • I think today we're gonna have a serious cycling. - Oh oh here comes the orange helmet

  • No! No! - It's challange time

  • He's wearing it, I'm not wearing it

  • Ryotaro brought his own helmet because he reall didn't wanted the orange one - Just to avoid it, I knew

  • I knew Chris was going to like it to force me to wear that

  • I really like that

  • I like... - do you guys like the orange helmet? I think it's cool.

  • Wait wait - I don't see the problem

  • Did you see it on Joey? It looked really good on Joey. - Seriously? Yeah

  • So it chooses people - Yeah, it hates Chris, I think

  • So I'll show you around. - This is our new friend Hide

  • Hello! - Hi

  • He comes to Himeji twice a month to meet foreigners and practice his English, which is wonderful. He's not confident, but it's perfect

  • After I...I did...

  • I retiered my job...five years ago

  • Aww so you just come here and find foreigners and

  • So I say hello to international tourists

  • Especially Canadian. And especially... especially beautys

  • Where do you recommend that we go if we don't have much time here where would be the best place?

  • To visit. - Here... This is the fish monument

  • Take a picture here

  • Thank you so much it's lovely

  • They are raspberry, green tea, soda... - oh raspberry and green tea I get those too.

  • Raspberry and green tea? - Oh, is that sakura?

  • No, peach

  • Okay I'll just get raspberry and green tea

  • Everything's so well presented. That's what I really like about Wagashi. They're gorgeous. They're like their own little individual works of art. - Look at these

  • And they're only a couple dollars each you feel like they should charge more. Cause it looks like so much effort was put into making them

  • Alright guys, we will try these later maybe in the car we're gonna head back. We're off to our next location

  • The guys are gonna start cycling again

  • And I'm lazy and the car needs some sweets

  • With Meg

  • Okay, let's try some of these sweets what shall we start with

  • I actually want to show you guys Karintou because it's not the most visually appealing Wagashi

  • But it's actually one of my favorites. It kind of looks like cat poop

  • Sorry, if that's offensive

  • To anyone

  • But it's really really delicious and I don't want the appearance of it to put you guys off from ever buying it

  • This is a maple flavored one. And so it's a little lighter and this is the dark

  • I believe this is just black sugar flavor. So it's probably a stronger flavor

  • These are basically just made out of flour and sugar and they're like a hard...

  • ...cookie, I guess you could say. They're meant to be eaten with green tea, because the bitterness of the green tea offsets the sweetness of

  • these. They're quite sweet. They're very very sweet, but they're delicious

  • Wow, the maple smell is amazing and you know what? It smells like Aunt Jemima doesn't smell like real maple. So that's even better.

  • I wish you guys could eat this.

  • It's really bright...

  • It's really hard to compare this to any kind of sweet

  • that you can get in the West so

  • really, I just recommend that you buy it and try it if you come to Japan or if you have a Japanese grocery store that

  • sells Karintou usually they come in big bags, but if you get them out a proper Wagashi Ya-San, they'll taste even better

  • The team's all back together. How was your cycle Ryotaro?

  • Oh! Doing great. There's some breeze and it's not too hot like yesterday

  • And also the the the road we've been you know biking has not been like this not too steep

  • So it's been really well done acutally - We've stopped now to get some drone shots

  • We're in a really beautiful rural area. The colors are gorgeous. I was just saying it's too bad

  • The leaves haven't changed color down here in the southern part. Up north all the leaves have changed color already... it's so nice

  • Yeah, but it hasn't caught up to the area. We're in yet. It's just starting

  • Maybe in about... a month?

  • When we're gone

  • It's too bad, but it's still really beautiful here. I'm gonna get some cool drone shots

  • I think we stopped to get some seafood barbecue now

  • Nice views again

  • This whole area is really beautiful

  • So we are now at the the place called... I don't know the name

  • but anyway

  • so we have a seafood barbecue place so you can get to choose the fish and

  • Shellfish, whatever that is and then and do the BBQ

  • What is this

  • Something's being dried, that's for sure

  • That looks like something out of a horror movie

  • And then to the people to the people watching this

  • to all of you watching this, how do you feel abut this? Is it weird, is it brilliant? You can sum up in one word

  • I should do this so I can get Chris. Are there you go

  • Look at his bad side

  • Right guys, we're gonna check into our hotel for the night

  • It's a really cool street full of traditional style hotels excited to see what our... our rooms look like

  • Guess I will say goodbye here. Thanks for watching and I'll see you guys again very soon. Bye

  • You

Oh my god, oh my god
