  • Loneliness is at 300% and it's affecting everyone.

  • The more hooked we get on Instagram and Facebook, the lonelier we get.

  • Now, the crazy thing is loneliness isn't just an act of boredom.

  • It's self-sabotage, and yet it's growing,

  • 300% rise in loneliness across the Western world.

  • So today's conversation is when a woman goes out there to fight loneliness.

  • We spend so much of our lives sort of living for what others want of us,

  • what our parents want of us, what society wants of us, what our,

  • you know, sort of co-workers want of us, without actually asking ourselves,

  • "What do we care? How do I feel a sense of deep belonging?"

  • I don't know how that happened but one day, I look at myself in the mirror at 30.

  • I think it was just being 30 years old, looking myself in the mirror and

  • I realized, "Wait. What is it that I want out of this life?

  • Do I want to keep being in the hamster wheel of loneliness and pretending

  • everything's great and I have all these friends but they don't really fulfill me?

  • Or do I want to really push towards a life that is deeply meaningful?"

  • Participation is the cornerstone of belonging.

  • And I think, so often, we go to these spaces and we just take.

  • And we go to a conference and we just receive information.

  • We're always seeking as opposed to getting to know.

  • We know belonging starts with if you belong to yourself first.

  • With really knowing yourself. We have to know who you are first.

  • So the older we get, the more isolated we get.

  • And time to change that, and it's up to us.

Loneliness is at 300% and it's affecting everyone.
