  • greetings from Izumo.

  • This is the zoom Attisha, or at least the road leading up to it.

  • I hitchhiked here from Model City just about 30 minutes ago.

  • I arrived, put my bag in a locker, and now I'm walking down the main street towards Izumo.

  • Tasha?

  • Limitations on the sea of Japan side.

  • Quite a ways from Tokyo.

  • So I thought I'd do a walk through.

  • Um it looks like in my rain today.

  • I haven't umbrella handy.

  • Just in case.

  • I also wanted to give you an update on the hitch hiking trip.

  • Last time I was on the road.

  • Was that yesterday?

  • Yeah.

  • It wasn't me, folks.

  • It was the YouTube app and the four G signal.

  • They just weren't working together because I went on to Facebook live at work, just fine.

  • In fact, the video look pretty good.

  • So I don't know what was up with that, and I really apologize for that.

  • But right now it's all about easy, mo.

  • Yeah, but what I like about this area is that the shops have really suddenly done.

  • That means there's no like bright signs or outlandish colors.

  • Everything is subdued.

  • Even there's a convenience store over there.

  • They usually it's a loss since they usually have a bright blue sign.

  • But here it's brown.

  • I think it's because there's the codes here for building a very, very strict.

  • You can't have anything that that sort of clashes.

  • That's how important easy Natasha is to Japan.

  • They have codes on what you could build here on how you can build here.

  • You can't just make a building.

  • It it should look like could look like this.

  • See, would subtle colors And up ahead you can see the entrance.

  • One of the entrances to the too easy morte sha This place really isn't significant trying to get these.

  • So it's one reason why I wanted to bring you I don't think I would do a normal on Lee in Japan episode on Eazy Motel Aisha because it's is pretty heavy stuff, but live we can sort of walk through it together and see some things.

  • Uh, it rained the whole way from Hamada City, so I was lucky.

  • I'll tell you what happened.

  • Okay, so I was hitchhiking yesterday from your cooney, uh, very close to Kim.

  • Take your bridge.

  • There's a place where the road continues on Thio Uh, Matsuda, the city of much student.

  • I wanted to catch a train there, but you know what happened?

  • A nice guy stopped.

  • He was dry driving with gas canisters in the back.

  • Um and he said I could take you to a better spot.

  • Is it Okay, So it took me back to Miyajima.

  • It was by an interchange, and I figured, Yeah, that's not going to be too bad.

  • But the problem was it was one of these interchanges that nobody stops at.

  • And the result was that we have different three hours.

  • Then here's a map.

  • He's always good to get a sense of the area you can see the Sea of Japan is right here.

  • It's just stunning.

  • And then there's a city.

  • A lot of it is farm fields.

  • And then when you get down here, you could see Izumo.

  • Tasia.

  • It's quite large.

  • And then here, behind it is are the mountains in the city transition.

  • This is sort of a hike.

  • You have to go there by bus.

  • But really it really is a beautiful area.

  • Wow!

  • You can see the mountains you see behind me.

  • Look at that and the cherry blossoms air out here.

  • It's a very, very lucky to have that.

  • But the shops are just really, really pretty, very well done.

  • Made of wood in the old style, all brand new on the corner.

  • I saw this.

  • Really?

  • In fact, I stopped here when I was here when I filmed the easy Most Sunrise train Right there, folks, is a Starbucks and you get the Starbucks.

  • Couldn't make, like, a crazy colored they had to keep.

  • It really wouldn't looking, which is great.

  • Starbucks is usually do a good job of making it look stylish fitting into the local environments.

  • And this one has, um, done a wonderful job up there.

  • You could see the windows with buys.

  • You sit up on the second floor.

  • Looks very, um I don't know Japanese, but I can change.

  • I'm dying for coffee, but actually, I'm gonna I'm gonna just take you through this tonight.

  • The traffic lights turned red, so you got a you could see on the hill.

  • It's up there, the cherry blossoms, the white trees dotting on the side of the hill.

  • And you don't have to goto popular places like Ueno Tokyo to see the cherry blossoms.

  • I totally recommend hiking up to there, bringing some drinks and picnicking up by there with no people and just really doing the center of nature.

  • There you go.

  • I've been also, um I've been adding live videos on the only in Japan.

  • Go channel.

  • So if you check that out, you're gonna see some videos from Qin Taiko Bridge yesterday as well as from Oshima.

  • Oh, gosh, I love looking back.

  • I'll show you that in a second.

  • It is The light changes.

  • Okay, here we go.

  • There's the big sign says Easy, matey Sha.

  • All right, so that my friends says easy, more tie shop And there's a massive wooden Tori.

  • It's a very natural place.

  • Most things are made of wood.

  • That's why shops have to fit into a certain building code and we're gonna look back at the city.

  • It's stunning.

  • Come up here.

  • People usually take the photos.

  • I'm gonna be a dude with the selfie Stick behind.

  • You know, one of my first day I'm live There's mountains and that beautiful toting in the distance and this road leading to the white Tony's loads of shops, loads of places to buy souvenirs loads of places.

  • There's a small train station.

  • It's not J R.

  • There's the bus station.

  • This is everything you need is on the street.

  • But when getting here from the station requires traveling on a bus or taxi or like hitchhiking Uh, yeah.

  • Wow.

  • Okay, now things are getting pretty cool.

  • People selling stuff, little boots, how things were getting, Really.

  • I love the cherry blossoms.

  • It just adds a touch of white in what ordinarily would be all green and brown.

  • Today's a cloudy day.

  • It's quite a long walk.

  • Yes, well, I'm walking.

  • You have any questions?

  • I could try to answer them about this trip.

  • Um, I want to communicate better because the I'm making a log episodes to update you on what's happening on the road.

  • But the content is going to be different than what's on the DVD, so I'm making one of the reason during this trip is to make it to make a film about it.

  • I really want to make a longer version of only in Japan, something that's, you know, it could end up being somewhere between an hour and 20 minutes.

  • You know, Thio more.

  • That's another reason why It's a DVD because the blue razor just it's too much to handle and I can't process for K video on the laptop I have.

  • So everything's in HD and then downsized.

  • All right, well, look at that beautiful, beautiful little eight little pond.

  • Apparently, there are local elections going on as well.

  • All right, there's another tortilla about 50 meters in front of us and then loads and loads of cherry blossoms glass not raining in Hamada, which is again, it's on the Sea of Japan and Germany Prefecture.

  • I'll Thanh of Seaford and the story Is that a guy?

  • Okay, so the guy took me to where I live on the streets.

  • A guy picked me up in the MCU me and took me to Miyajima interchange, which is awful.

  • After three hours there, a really nice guy stopped in a Mazda Roadster.

  • Kind of a small car.

  • My luggage just fit in the back.

  • And, uh, he asked me where I was going and I told him Miyaji, my interchange service area.

  • But he said he had a day off when he took me directly to Hamada City.

  • Didn't have to do that.

  • Absolutely overwhelmed by his his kindness and we had a really good time driving there, too.

  • Look at those cherry blossoms.

  • They're they're close to flow bloom here tonight.

  • So and for today is to see easy matey Sha prey because this is a culturally significant trying in Japan, one of the top one of the most ancient, that's for sure.

  • We're talking like Kyoto, Ancient, maybe even Maur for most of the shrine's going back, I guess that there are records going back to the year Um 9 50 I believe, study that correctly and 9 50 this records of it being the tallest building in Japan at 48 meters high.

  • And, uh, it is pretty massive.

  • Uh, it dwarfs major shrine in Tokyo Major ginger on dhe much bigger than send so G if you're going to come to a significant culturally significant place in Japan, Izumo and this whole areas, the signing area is just This is loaded with things to see and do that people tourists don't normally get to.

  • For some reason, it's just a little bit off the beaten track.

  • All right, there you go.

  • Just like died it on the landscape report cherry blossoms in a clump?

  • No, dear here.

  • Like in nada, but springs here tonight.

  • They're very nice.

  • Okay, So if you want to see some of the video that I took yesterday about a bridge that has five arches to it supercool go to that only in Japan Channel.

  • And please subscribe to it because they need some more support on that channel.

  • The money for that channel goes to paying for the band with because, uh, I think I stream for 30 minutes live.

  • It's sort of heavy bandwidth, but video picture look pretty good for for 80 people.

  • And again, I don't I don't make the street that I can't choose what the streaming will be.

  • YouTube only allows 40 p for some places in 7 20 for other places.

  • And I have no idea which one YouTube's gonna decide.

  • So Oh, boy, it's nice to be sharing this experience with you.

  • All right?

  • We're entering the you see in the distance.

  • That's the main Fine, Mean Tasia be shrine.

  • Look at that rope.

  • Do you see it?

  • That's gotta be the thickest rope I've ever seen.

  • Could probably pull a cargo ship.

  • You go there to purify yourself?

  • Yeah, just like a lot of people watching.

  • I better purify my hands.

  • Get in trouble, give you a priest watching.

  • All right?

  • No, I'm clean.

  • I'm starting to feel some raindrops.

  • We're entering the main shrine.

  • People are giving their respects, vowing you for the enter, which is very, uh, typical.

  • Just the cultural significance of the shrine.

  • It's very important people, right?

  • I think if you ever wanted to understand about Japan, you have to understand about it's religion on the duality between Buddhism and Shintoism.

  • Um And again this is This is Shindo.

  • So this is 1/2 of Japan.

  • People are born into Shindo and most of them die.

  • Funerals are Buddhist.

  • The main shrine is behind.

  • This is just the This is just the building.

  • Look at the size of that rope.

  • Have you ever seen rope that big?

  • They know how to make broke And she minded Prefect.

  • It must weigh a ton once again for everybody tuning in.

  • Now this is the zoom on the Sea of Japan in the signing area.

  • Um closest city is And, um your Nagle you zoom has got an international airport as well, Not a torture.

  • Okay, get that beautiful tree.

  • Look at that.

  • All made of dark.

  • Would like the shops outside.

  • Sort of melted with the style.

  • And you see these here?

  • Yeah, If you know, the Utah cattle for Schumann is called she my nickel and she Monaco has these out of his coming out of his head.

  • It's the top of the shrine.

  • So it's Utakata.

  • And here you have it in a God.

  • He's much right.

  • So yeah, So I'm gonna pray, because I'm I'm not I'm not extremely religious.

  • But second, take this out because I can't do everything I'm gonna I'm gonna go in and pray because I think I should have a lot of bears to do.

  • It's hiking note.

  • I mean, hitchhiking.

  • I should pray more than most people because you just never know.

  • So you can see the main, so I'll be right back.

  • I'm going over there.

  • Don't go anywhere.

  • Okay.

  • So I gave, uh, my prayers to the the gods of the shrine and knows Get steal my camera and shrine a very safe place.

  • It's alive.

  • You guys would tell me who stole it, right?

  • Right.

  • You get some of you wouldn't.

  • Um but it feels good to pray to.

  • Um, just because it's a it's a spiritual thing.

  • I don't doesn't to me.

  • It doesn't matter the religions so much.

  • It's just it feels good.

  • Thio think.

  • Think of something bigger than yourself.

  • Everybody's different in that respect that but for me, I'm here when you're here in respect, I respect the people here.

  • You can see a lot of tourists coming to get you thinking about praying.

  • What would you pray for right now you're playing music.

  • Just ceremony going on inside.

  • Sorry for the shaky video.

  • The DJ I asthma World Peace is a great one.

  • Job opportunities, safety for the ones you love.

  • Good help for people that important to you and everybody in general.

  • I'm not sure what Sam When you could be a wedding, It could be just something they do ceremonially every day at the shop.

  • A lot of places in the morning.

  • A lot of places in the morning have have special Um, I have special ceremonies in one shrine, Mi ho shrine, which had been to a few times nearby, has morning rituals, including a performance plane, um, drums, Taiko drums.

  • And it's pretty close.

  • A tourist but it also has such a deep meaning.

  • And, uh, I'm real.

  • I just really wanted to show share this experience with you.

  • Um, yeah, it doesn't matter if you're atheist or Christian or Muslim.

  • And when you come to Japan and I think you have to respect, no matter what country you go to your respect, people's, you know, their their beliefs.

  • I think that that's what all travelers do.

  • And I've been here for almost 20 years, and to me, I still don't know much about Shinto religion.

  • But that shouldn't stop you from from praying if you believe, uh, in anything or nothing.

  • Just if you if you are atheists and you want to pray anyways, you know, again, I'm not religious at all.

  • I'm not atheist.

  • I'm not.

  • I don't really have any particular religious affiliation, but I'm happy to be here.

  • I feel better.

  • So that's it.

  • I walked through this museum, a Croatia and a little update from the road.

  • I'm glad of a chance to do these live feeds with you and get a chance to communicate because some of you I get messages and you're quite worried about where I am and I'm fine.

  • I'm sorry.

  • When the notifications go, I know you're getting paying more than once when I kind of live feed off.

  • But I only do that if if it's, um you know, if something cuts officer simply and I want I want you to be able to do these very a CZ.

  • Best as I can possibly do that.

  • Sometimes you're gonna have technical problems.

  • If just a little problem.

  • Go to Facebook and you can check my status or on instagram of the other social media or the only Japan Go channel where I'm doing more live streams.

  • I'm not gonna do too many lives.

  • More live streams for this channel.

  • So if you like these, go to go over to the other one and you'll see a lot more every day.

  • Ah, yeah.

  • So now the trip gets a lot easier.

  • I just go up around nine all the way up Thio about Kildow near Kyoto.

  • And then I verb over towards Fukui and Kanazawa.
