  • I say be strong.

  • Train your physical strength and exercise your mental strength by doing the right things, the hard things, the things you know you're supposed to do.

  • Do them!

  • And be as strong as you can mentally, physically, and emotionally for yourself, for your team, for your family.

  • But I'll tell you there are some times in life where you fall down, and you feel like you don't have the strength to get back up.

  • So, you sort of put a mask on your face when you come to school and pretend that everything's okay when it's not.

  • And you go home and lay in your bed where no one's looking at you, and you don't have to impress anybody.

  • And you're yourself.

  • And fear comes in.

  • You know the fear that you have as soon as you walk into the doors of your house, maybe there's a broken home.

  • Maybe you have doubt in your life.

  • Maybe you don't know for sure what's gonna be happening in the future, and it scares you.

  • Maybe you're worried about what people think of you, what people say about you.

  • Just that fear paralyzes you, and I just want to ask you today, do you think you have hope?

  • It should be impossible for me to get back up, but it's not.

  • You see, I will try 100 times to get up, and if I fail 100 times...

  • If I fail and I give up, do you think that I'm ever gonna get up?

  • No, but if I fail I try again, and again, and again.

  • For as long as I try, there's always that chance of getting up.

  • Does that make sense?

  • There is a Mother Teresa in you, there's some work for you to do.

  • I say to you that there is a Nelson Mandela in you, but that kind of commitment, that kind of spirit, that kind of personal power, that kind of vision of allowing yourself to be used by life is in you.

  • That all of us came here to do something, to make a difference.

  • And in a historical context, the world will never be the same again because you came this way.

  • What we have got to do is know that there's something about you, there's something about us.

  • There's a power in you that regardless of what happens to you, you can stand up inside of yourself.

  • Motivation for me is that you never have to wonder what if, later in life, the windows of opportunity will always close.

  • As we get older, things are taken from us.

  • But they can never take the memory of us performing our best.

  • So motivation for me is, later in life, you know it's hard to take that first step towards greatness into anyone's endeavor.

  • That's a hard step, but what's harder than that one step is later in life when the windows close and the opportunities cease to exist.

  • Thinking back when you could have been great.

  • And it's not the end until you've given up.

  • And just the fact that you're here should persuade you that you have another chance to get back up.

  • But I just want you to know that it's not the end.

  • It matters how you're gonna finish.

  • Are you gonna finish strong?

  • I always try to burn the midnight oil right now and give it all I have to prevent me from staying awake in the midnight hours, wondering what if...

I say be strong.
