What kind of motivated you to want to produce your own films?
-
When I finished ballet school where I was for quite a few years, I tried out for theatre
-
school and I did not get in and I then wanted to decide what I wanted to do instead, and
-
a lot of people that I met that were producers in film, and TV and theatre had gone through
-
law so I actually got into law school and thought that would maybe be the way because
-
I wanted to tell stories and work with film
-
Me and my, who I share my company with, my partner Charles, we, we, sat, probably had
-
a lunch three/four years ago and kind of, with a laugh said, 'it would be amazing
-
if we could try and do that one day' and then, we started it last year. So, now we
-
have a few projects in development.
-
You said sort of in the past that you had a run of films at a certain period where you
-
noticed that your character hadn't had, like a conversation with any other women,
-
like, at all and is that something you're kind of conscious of in the films you want to make though your own production company?
-
Definitely, I think in general that's something that I want to bring awareness to.
-
We need female writers. Sometimes, I'm actually, I've been surprised I would probably consider myself
-
that women know women better. I have been surprised by men who have been able to write
-
women very well.
-
So, I think it's more about, talking about equality and bringing things up and
-
making sure that we have both women and men both in front of the camera but even more also behind.
