  • Who doesn't enjoy relaxing with a nice cold brew with some of your friends?

  • But the more beers you drink, the rounder your belly becomes. Why?

  • and if you down several in one sitting, you can end up with serious calorie overload.

  • Can your belly tell the difference between a beer calorie and a regular calorie?

  • The answer is NO! They can't.

  • So what's the deal?

  • Why do they call "A beer belly"?

  • It all comes down to the serving size.

  • A beer average is about 12 ounces per serving, while a glass of wine, it's about 5 ounces.

  • And a shot about one and half ounces.

  • With beer, you end up drinking more of it to get the same buzz, as beer's less malign cousins.

  • More beer, equals more calories.

  • Bottom line, if you drank wine in greater quantity than beer, the expression could just as easily be "Wine belly."

  • But that's not a thing.

  • Beer belly is. And now, you know why.
