  • If your iPhone is not charging properly,

  • it may be because your charging port is filled

  • with too much debris.

  • Here are the steps you should take to properly clean

  • your phone's charging port.

  • First, power off your iPhone completely.

  • You should get a flashlight

  • or work under a bright LED lamp.

  • You can clean it with compressed air first,

  • and if this doesn't work,

  • you can use a wooden toothpick.

  • Never insert anything harder than the wooden toothpick

  • in the iPhone's lightening port.

  • This is so you don't damage the delicate electronics

  • within the port.

  • Let's start first with using compressed air.

  • Holding the compressed air can upright

  • so it doesn't expel wet propellant,

  • shoot a few short, controlled bursts of air into the port,

  • then try to charge it again.

  • If it's still not working, move on to trying the toothpick.

  • Gently insert the toothpick into the port

  • and lightly scrape it against the inside wall of the port.

  • After using the toothpick for a while,

  • give the port another burst of compressed air

  • to help remove anything you've loosened,

  • then try to charge it again.

  • Hopefully, after a few cycles of cleaning,

  • your phone will start to charge.

  • If not, take it to an Apple service center

  • for professional help.
