  • Since her first appearance in DC's All Star Comics Number Eight in Nineteen Forty-One,

  • Wonder Woman has been one of the most popular and enduring superheros for nearly eighty

  • years.

  • Wonder Woman was born on the secluded Island of Themyscira, home to a race of Amazonian

  • warrior women from Greek legend.

  • Raised as Princess Diana of Themyscira, her legend states that she was molded from clay

  • and given life by Zeus, the king of the gods.

  • Rumour has it, though, that Diana was actually fathered by Zeus, but her mother Hippolyta

  • made up the clay story to protect Diana from the wrath of Hera, Zeus' wife, who was known

  • to kill the offspring of Zeus' extramarital affairs.

  • When an American military plane crashes near the island during World War One, Princess

  • Diana rescues Major Steve Trevor and nurses him back to health, before being charged with

  • returning him toThe World of Man”.

  • She would remain there to fight for justice, peace and equality as an original member of

  • the Justice League, alongside other well known superheroes like Superman, Batman and The

  • Flash.

  • In The World of Man she goes by the name of Diana Prince and poses as a human, holding

  • a variety of jobs including army nurse, intelligence officer and even antiques dealer - that one

  • especially makes sense, considering she's thousands of years old!

  • Wonder Woman can thank the gods for making herbeautiful as Aphrodite, wise as Athena,

  • swifter than Hermes, and stronger than Hercules".

  • So, with all of these powers, how would you take down this demigod in a fight to the death?

  • As a demigod, Wonder Woman's strength has no measurable limits, and rivals that of the

  • strongest superheroes like Superman.

  • Defeating her on strength alone will be next to impossible for a simple mortal like you.

  • You don't need to look far for evidence of her strength.

  • She once beat Hercules, a demigod with incredible strength, in an arm wrestling competition.

  • Wonder Woman and Superman also deadlifted the cosmic being known as The Spectre, which

  • was said to be composed of consciousness and weigh as much as eternity.

  • We're not sure how much eternity actually weighs, but we'd wager it's more than

  • any human can lift!

  • Wonder Woman completed these feats before taking off her armbands, which actually hold

  • her unlimited strength in check.

  • Without them she is infinitely strong, but also out of control with rage.

  • You'd better hope she's wearing her arm bands during your fight!

  • As if god-like strength wasn't enough, Wonder Woman also possesses unmatched combat skills

  • and a sharp mind for military tactics.

  • She was trained from a young age by Ares, the Greek god of war, and is an expert in

  • Amazonian martial arts.

  • She's such an impressive warrior that Batman once called her the best melee fighter in

  • the world.

  • It will take more than brute strength to get to Wonder Woman, since her powerful mind is

  • always assessing threats and adjusting battle plans.

  • Since you're definitely not going to win an arm wrestling contest with her, if you

  • find yourself in close combat with Wonder Woman, you really only have one option - go

  • for the eyes!

  • Apparently, her eyes are a weak point, and if you can get close enough to land a good

  • poke - good luck with that - you might just incapacitate her enough to finish her off.

  • Pure strength aside, Wonder Woman possesses unmatched agility and is nearly invulnerable

  • to attack.

  • Not only can she run sixty miles per hour, faster than Hermes, the Greek messenger god,

  • but she can also jump from the tallest buildings and land gracefully and unhurt on her feet.

  • And, oh yeah, she can fly - at half the speed of light - while outmaneuvering bullets, rockets,

  • jets and anything else you can throw at her.

  • Add in her telescopic sight, supersonic hearing, and extrasensory perception, and you'll

  • be hard pressed to catch her by surprise.

  • As if superhuman agility wasn't enough, Wonder Woman is practically invulnerable.

  • You could try freezing her, but she's resistant to extreme temperatures.

  • You could attempt to electrocute her, but she's impervious to electricity, and would

  • probably turn it back on you.

  • You could try drowning her, but it would have no effect since she can hold her breath forever,

  • and she'd probably just use her super breath to blow you away.

  • You could even bust out the flamethrower but, you guessed it, she's immune to fire.

  • She's also highly resistant to extreme force, so pretty much anything you can think of to

  • throw at her or hit her with won't do much except irritate her.

  • Even if you do manage to get in a solid hit, Wonder Woman also has an incredible healing

  • factor, thanks to drinking from the Fountain of Youth on the Island of Themyscira from

  • a young age.

  • Any damage you manage to do had better be lethal if you don't want Wonder Woman to

  • shake it off and come back at you with a vengeance.

  • If by some miracle you can manage to catch Wonder Woman at a standstill, and get close

  • enough to get in a good hit, you're only chance would be to go for the weak spots - her

  • skin and internal organs.

  • She may be super strong and invulnerable, but her skin and organs are still vulnerable

  • to being pierced by edged weapons or bullets.

  • Due to her healing powers, you'd need to make sure you are deadly accurate and deliver

  • a lethal blow so that she won't be able to heal and fight on.

  • However, getting a shot or stab to hit its mark is easier said than done, as we'll

  • learn later.

  • So it's pretty obvious that no mortal is going to beat Wonder Woman in a contest of

  • strength or agility.

  • As invulnerable as she may seem physically, she does have some vulnerabilities that have

  • less to do with her inhuman strength and more to do with her powerful and compassionate

  • mind.

  • Wonder Woman is known to be as wise as Athena, the Greek god of wisdom.

  • Outsmarting her will be next to impossible for a mere mortal.

  • And it's not just her intelligence and strong grasp of military strategy that you need to

  • worry about - Wonder Woman has many mental and psychic abilities that make her a formidable

  • foe.

  • Not only is Wonder Woman immune to electric shocks, as we just discovered, but she has

  • the ability to actually control the electricity in her body with her mind.

  • She can turn electricity into muscle power, so trying to shock her can come back to bite

  • you big time.

  • Her most impressive mental ability, though, is her psychic powers.

  • Wonder Woman is blessed with the ability to telepathically read minds, meaning she would

  • know what you're planning before you even have a chance to attack her.

  • Even worse for you, her telepathic abilities allow her to control others, particularly

  • soldiers.

  • After she killed Ares, she took his place as the God of War, and with it, the ability

  • to telepathically control all the world's soldiers.

  • If you thought taking on Wonder Woman one-on-one was a daunting task, imagine taking her on

  • with an entire world army at her side!

  • And as if that wasn't enough, Wonder Woman also has the gift of being able to speak to

  • animals, thanks to Artemis, the goddess of the hunt.

  • She's been known to befriend polar bears, giant kangaroos and even a T-Rex!

  • Good luck getting past that menagerie to get at Wonder Woman.

  • In addition to telepathy, Wonder Woman also has the ability to astrally project into other

  • dimensions, and believe it or not, this might actually provide you with an opportunity to

  • do some damage.

  • Any injuries that occur to her astral body are also inflicted in real life, so if you

  • can somehow manage to get her to project both of you to a dimension where she doesn't

  • have any superpowers, then you might be in for a bit more of a fair fight.

  • But how would you convince Wonder Woman to journey to a dimension where she's powerless,

  • and take you along for the ride?

  • Despite the fact that she's a mighty warrior, Wonder Woman is also known for being incredibly

  • compassionate, and her mission is to bring justice and peace to the World of Man.

  • With a little trickery on your part, you might be able to gain her sympathy, perhaps by pretending

  • that someone you love is trapped in another dimension.

  • Better yet, you could kidnap Steve Trevor, her lover, and take him to another dimension.

  • When she comes to rescue him, as she undoubtedly will, you'll have a chance to fight her

  • on more equal footing.

  • Wonder Woman's innate strength and superpowers aren't the only tools she has to use against

  • you.

  • She also has a host of magical weapons at her disposal.

  • Wonder Woman's signature tiara is actually a razor-sharp projectile, which will return

  • to her like a boomerang after she throws it at an enemy.

  • Her most impressive magical weapons, though, are also her greatest vulnerabilities.

  • Wonder Woman's Lasso of Truth is like a magical lie detector - anyone bound by it

  • is unable to lie.

  • Interestingly, the psychologist who created Wonder Woman also invented the modern lie

  • detector machine.

  • If you can somehow manage to steal Wonder Woman's lasso and tie her up with it, she

  • won't be able to lie to you and will have to give up the secret to destroying her.

  • However, getting her in that position in the first place will take some serious deception

  • and bravery on your part.

  • Her magical bracelets are strong enough to stop bullets and lasers, even automatic gunfire,

  • especially when combined with her super speed.

  • The bracelets can also produce other weapons as needed, including swords, spears and arrows.

  • Wonder Woman can also smash the bracelets together to cause a massive explosion, complete

  • with lightning bolts.

  • She once caused an explosion so loud that it made Superman's ears bleed!

  • If that's what it can do to Superman, what do you think would happen to your fragile,

  • human ears?

  • However, Wonder Woman's iconic bracelets might also carry the key to her downfall.

  • Her bracelets are worn by all Amazon women as a symbol of their rescue from slavery at

  • the hands of men by Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love.

  • Upon freeing them, Aphrodite laid down a law: that they must never surrender to a man for

  • any reason.

  • Aphrodite's law might be your ticket to beating Wonder Woman once and for all, for

  • if she lets her bracelets be bound by a man, she loses her powers and becomes a mortal

  • woman.

  • A super strong, well-trained mortal, but a mortal nonetheless.

  • There's another way that you can use Wonder Woman's bracelets against her.

  • Oddly enough, they actually limit her power, rather than increase it.

  • Without her bracelets, her power is limitless - while this might not seem like a good thing

  • when you're trying to beat her, this limitless power also causes Wonder Woman to lose her

  • mind with rage.

  • If you can manage to steal her bracelets - and get well out of harm's reach - she might

  • just self-destruct from rage and her own power.

  • You definitely won't want to be around for that, though - and who knows how much collateral

  • damage she'd cause first!

  • Unfortunately, as long as Wonder Woman has her full powers and all of her weapons, it

  • doesn't look like you'd have much of a chance against her.

  • Between her unmatched strength, unparalleled combat skills, sharp mind and magical weapons,

  • not to mention all her other powers, like the ability to fly, read minds and control

  • entire armies, no mortal will be able to take her down in a fight.

  • For all her advantages, Wonder Woman does have some weaknesses.

  • Most of them involve robbing her of her powers, rendering her a vulnerable mortal.

  • However, don't be tricked into thinking that it would then be easy to defeat her - even

  • as a mortal, Wonder Woman has the strength of an Amazon warrior and centuries of combat

  • training at her disposal.

  • Any way you look at it, you're going to have your work cut out for you in trying to

  • take on Wonder Woman!

  • Wonder Woman was created by psychologist Charles Moulton Marston and artist Harry G. Peter

  • in nineteen forty-one.

  • According to Marston, Wonder Woman was inspired by famous feminists like Ethel Byrne, who

  • was arrested for opening the first birth control clinic in the U.S.

  • As Marston once explained: “Frankly, Wonder Woman is psychological propaganda for the

  • new type of woman who, I believe, should rule the world.”

  • Wonder Woman certainly has all the powers and wisdom a world ruler would need, but her

  • few vulnerabilities stop her from being totally invincible.

  • Still, we wouldn't pick a fight with her any time soon!
