- [All] You plus me makes the power of we,
-
build a better world for you and me,
-
let's stand up for up for what is right,
-
listen, act, unite!
-
(all laugh)
-
- Oh, hi.
-
You're just in time for the Power of We holiday party.
-
- Yeah, we're all getting together to celebrate.
-
- It's a special time
-
of year with lots of holidays and celebrations,
-
so we're learning how each of us celebrates with our family.
-
- I feel so excited!
-
Charlie was just about to share how she celebrates.
-
- My family and I celebrate Hanukkah.
-
It's an eight-day festival of lights.
-
- You celebrate for eight days?
-
- Yeah.
-
We light candles for each night of Hanukkah,
-
on a special candle holder called a menorah.
-
I get to help my mom light the candles.
-
We sing songs, and wish everyone a happy Hanukkah.
-
Happy Hanukkah!
-
- [Others] Happy Hanukkah!
-
- That's amazing, Charlie.
-
We light candles for our holiday too.
-
Tamir and I celebrate Kwanzaa with our family.
-
- Yep, it's a seven-day celebration
-
of our African-American culture and history.
-
- We decorate our house with art,
-
colorful cloth, and fresh fruit.
-
Each night, when we light a candle
-
on a special candle holder called the kinara,
-
we talk about one of the principles of Kwanzaa.
-
- Yeah, the principles of Kwanzaa help us
-
to continue to come together
-
as a family and community, like umoja, which means unity.
-
- Hey, we're celebrating unity right now by coming together
-
and learning how our friends celebrate the holidays.
-
(giggles)
-
Elmo, how do you celebrate?
-
- Oh, well, Elmo celebrates Christmas.
-
During Christmas, Elmo spends time with his family,
-
decorating the Christmas tree and singing songs.
-
- Oh, Elmo, I celebrate Christmas too,
-
and I love giving gifts to my friends and family,
-
oh, like, let me show you, like these drawings that I made
-
for my mami, my papi, and my abuela, see?
-
- They're going to love it, Rosita.
-
- Oh, gracias, Charlie.
-
Yeah, I celebrate Christmas,
-
and also, another holiday called Dia de los Reyes,
-
Three Kings' Day, and we make lots of food,
-
like my abuela's Rosca de Reyes.
-
Mmm, Three Kings' Bread.
-
That is delicious.
-
- Ooh, I want to try Three Kings' Bread.
-
My grandma and I cook together too.
-
You'll have to try our sweet potato pie.
-
- Oh, and Elmo's Christmas cookies.
-
- And my family's potato latkes.
-
- Oh, it looks like we found something
-
all of our holidays have in common, lots of yummy food.
-
- [All] Yeah.
-
- I had so much fun learning about everyone's holidays.
-
There is so much to celebrate this year.
-
- Merry Christmas, everyone!
-
- Happy Three Kings' Day!
-
- Happy Hanukkah!
-
- [Both] Happy Kwanzaa!
-
(Elmo giggles)
-
- No matter what you celebrate with your families this year,
-
happy holiday from all your friends on Sesame Street!
-
- Happy holidays, everyone! - Bye!
-
(gentle music)
