I
-
myself have
-
businesses, five of them.
-
We have two employees that came through the Employment Skills Training program. As a business person
-
what I liked about the Employment Skills Training program is I know they come with not only an expectation of
-
establishing themselves in the career,
-
but they come with the communicating in the workplace training, problem solving, the skills and basic knowledge.
-
They are ready to start. And that is the reason I encourage all employers to embrace the
-
program and
-
welcome these young jobseekers
-
into your business. The employability skills training that Rebecca did before she started here at Cafe 89 gave her an edge
-
where she came in with a bit of confidence.
-
She'd obviously done some training in how to meet and greet people, how to interview and just how to have a positive interaction
-
in the workplace.
-
I think EST gave her a really big step up to other candidates that we had apply at the time. From
-
Jesse's Employability Skills Training he'd had help with his
-
Resume also in his interview skills. They say that he'd not had a job if I was really impressed how he did interview.
-
He's also researched
-
Our gym. He was fully prepared for the interview
-
and so I do think it gave him an advantage. We speak to employers now, and we do encourage them to consider
-
applicants who have come off an EST program. We can actually
-
customize the training of that EST course based on the industry.
-
So some of them I come into a business space EST course or a construction
-
EST course or a hospitality EST course.
-
They get a bit of an overview of
-
What that industry looks like and how to present themselves and how to prepare themselves for work in that industry as well.
