  • So a new report by the Fabian Society is predicting that next year an additional three million Britons are going to be plunged into poverty, making it one in five people in this country, actually 22% that is going to be living below the poverty line.

  • That includes an additional 850,000 Children.

  • And this is all because we're expecting unemployment to hit a record high of 7.5% next year.

  • And this just emphasizes the deep scarring that is going on right now in our economy because of the lockdowns, this is something no one talks about.

  • This is something that's hard to quantify because we're focusing on these cova deaths every day and co vid case numbers.

  • But we're not seeing the long term ramifications off the lock down.

  • And one of the problems of the furlough scheme is that it feels like everything's OK.

  • The government's cutting checks, unemployment, uh, still seems okay, but it's it's propped up falsely by this scheme, and we're gonna have to pay for all of this for low money, because the truth is, nothing is happening in our country.

  • No business is being done.

  • We're not out spending were not consuming goods and services, and therefore we are all paying the price.

  • You just can't see it now.

  • And that's this whole cost benefit analysis that I've been speaking about for months.

  • And it's this concept I have now that you know an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and what we're doing is the opposite.

  • Right now we are crushing the economy is.

  • And as one of my recent guests on my show said, The economy is us.

  • You can't separate the two.

  • The economy is our daily lives.

  • It's our livelihood, zits, the experiences that we call life.

  • When you shut it down to protect some lives, it shuts everything down and ends up costing us mawr.

  • And a recent cost benefit analysis has said that it's 10 toe one that we're gonna pay for this lock down in economic value in lives lost because proper poverty is going to bring death.

  • It's going to bring mental illness.

  • It's going to bring suicide.

  • It's just gonna bring it later so we won't see it in.

  • Our politicians won't act on it, and they won't take responsibility for it.

  • So this is why every single day that things were shut down and you see boarded up stores here in our cities.

  • It's not just unsightly.

  • It's not just inconvenient for you and me.

  • It's literally killing our citizens.

  • It's killing us.

  • And until we have a politician that can step up and start making science based decisions, start creating a proportional response to this virus.

  • Start showing some real leadership.

  • It's gonna be frustrating.

  • And last night I rode home in a black taxi.

  • I do it every night, and I spoke to a guy named Ben a driver and you know, he said, He said, Brian, I don't understand.

  • You know, Where is the leadership?

  • What is our mayor doing?

  • He seems to be doing everything to try to hurt us.

  • He seems to be trying to stifle everything we have left here.

  • What's going on?

  • And I said, I'm justice frustrated, but I told them we could change this.

  • In an instance, all we need is leadership from the front to say, Wait a second.

  • We've got the science.

  • We can get back to work.

  • We could do it in a safe manner.

  • We can protect the elderly.

  • We can protect those in our care homes.

  • We can protect those over 60 but everyone else can get back to work and start providing.

  • The resource is that are gonna take care of our NHS and take care of the rest of us.

  • And so everyone I speak to on the streets all believes the same thing.

  • They say, Brian, we agree with you.

  • Let's get London back toe work.

  • Hospitality industry is one of the safest places to go to the gym.

  • Industry is one of the safest places to go.

  • And yet we locked up both of these for the past month for no apparent reason and no science.

  • It's time way start holding our leaders to task.

  • It's time we start asking our politicians to prove the data on.

  • That's why I keep asking these hard questions.

  • That's why I have new policies.

  • I wanna take London in a new direction.

  • Please leave your comments below.

  • Tell me what you think.

  • Do you agree?

  • Do you disagree?

  • Are you frustrated by this lock down?

  • Do you think we need to get back toe work?

  • Do you think we need new leadership?

  • Do you think we need to take our city in a new direction?
