  • We're not of this big, you know?

  • We're making good stuff.

  • We need We need somebody to come.

  • I have got one of the founders the two other founders didn't like what he was doing.

  • Wasn't performing well.

  • He would go in his office and compute all day, and nobody was supervising the engineers, And nobody was getting the products out on time.

  • And they wanted somebody to kick some butt and make it.

  • And it was the weak link in the company.

  • Okay?

  • And I was impressed that these guys, what they've already done, they had already figured out what their market was already figured out.

  • A niche they already done.

  • Really good products.

  • They already grew up on a shoestring and owned all of it.

  • There was no outside investors, and it was growing was doubling every year.

  • And they put Ah, really.

  • And I like the marketing guy.

  • The marketing guy was very slightly over with me.

  • I mean, he started This company was 23.

  • Andi had a ego the size of who knows what.

  • But the bottom line is, you couldn't You couldn't stop him from finding out where money was to be made and what you needed to do and how you needed thio make it work.

  • So as a business model, he was the creator of that whole idea.

  • Like the early seeds of the dot com tech startups.

  • Yeah, this is the first time that that solid state devices were now being put into actual products.

  • A supposed to the old discrete parts that were made up with vacuum tubes.

  • And so this is where you had lots of leverage from the semiconductor industry to do magic.

  • Right?

  • And you're 28 29 e you sitting on top of the world?

  • No, I was working E no, but you have a big reputation.

  • Everybody wants you.

  • You're getting all these offers.

  • That must feel good.

  • The offer was good, but, you know, it was a move way had no little kids way had 56 years of roots in Orange County on DSanders was kind of the backwoods of everything.

  • At the time, there was nothing going to sleepy town.

  • Uh, but it was the birth of the instrumentation industry of all instrumentation industries, with the exception of fibula packers.

  • So Tektronix and bargain down here was all the high precision electron ICS.

  • All the digital high precision electron ICS was done founded down here.

  • And so some of the people in my first company were from San Diego, and I've done it Here is Well, so those air guys I know today one of lives up on the beach.

  • He's 90 and I worked for Here's my first boss.

  • He's right down the street, but they all came from here in that industry.

  • So it was.

  • It was a welcome relief after the other door deal, so that was kind of like for the first time, a going I'll take a little easier path, but, um, and it was easier because the one in the middle was really, really on.

  • Our deal was kind of like the Navy seal training, right?

  • Years worth of seal training.

  • Okay.

  • Showed you you could do it.

  • Just raised my game, okay?

  • It just didn't It just It just took the tolerance for solving problems, left and right.

  • Inevitably, just never let anything stand in your way because that's the other guy was working for, never letting extending his way.

  • Okay, well, that's powerful.

  • And the company here was Doric.

  • Doric.

  • Okay.

  • All right.

  • And so you move into Kyle Leticia.

  • I'm two years old, so I know we move into apartment right on over there in the way we live in the apartment, All jammed up there while we decided where we're gonna live.

  • So every day we moved down like in November, October, November and I got in the beetle.

  • I drove down from there for a couple of days and every day that was down here lunch.

  • I got out and drove in a point of the compass in San Diego.

  • I went all the way east all the way south all the way north went everywhere looking for neighborhoods.

  • We had some friends that lived down here.

  • They helped by pointing things out to us.

  • So I looked at all those search the whole freaking county for a place to live.

  • And one day I drove up from PB up north, and then the hill was bald.

  • There were no houses there at all.

  • And all there were pads.

  • I drove up in there and there was a sales office and nothing but pads.

  • And I stood up on there and I looked out.

  • I said, because you could be a whole big She already Mexico and the and the price was approximately.

  • Well, we made enough money on the first house for the down payment, so it was affordable.

  • And I was making a lot more money at Doric and eso that way.

  • Still save money and s oh, wait for it to be built.

  • So we did in the apartments for six months or so, waiting for with Rugrats around, you know, tearing the house up and then you move in right before my second birthday.

  • Yeah, I think so.
