  • - So, as your next Mayor of London

  • my job is actually quite simple.

  • In the essence, I do two things.

  • My job is to listen, and my job is to serve, period.

  • That's all that I need to do,

  • and I need to do it extremely well,

  • to bring this city back to be world-class once again.

  • And that's really the essence of it.

  • And so that's why you probably seen for the past few weeks

  • I've been bringing in all sorts of different types of people

  • into my studio to listen and find out ways that I can serve.

  • And I've had incredible people on

  • to find out what's actually going on out there

  • and how I can make a difference.

  • I've had Jon Morgan from the Theatres Trust stop by.

  • I've had Steve McNamara, from one of the largest

  • taxi driver unions here in London.

  • I've had Jonathan Downey,

  • who unfortunately has had to close down five restaurants

  • because the hospitality industry has been ignored.

  • I went off site and spoke to Peter Dore-Smith

  • who runs a coffee store chain called Kaffeine with a K.

  • And I spoke to Simon Woodroffe,

  • one of the original Dragons' Dens

  • and one of the guys that created YO! Sushi,

  • an incredible brand.

  • And, I've been listening to them to find out

  • what are the solutions that we can work on

  • to make a difference.

  • And tomorrow I'll be having two more conversations.

  • One with Greg Mulholland of the Pub Confederation.

  • And I'll be also speaking with the guy

  • that runs the Big Bus Tours here in London to find out

  • how we can get tourism back on track.

  • And, I spent the afternoon, like I try to every week

  • going out in London and talking to people on the streets

  • and finding out what's on their mind.

  • What do they need London to do better

  • to make their lives better?

  • And last week I was down at Borough Market

  • and I spoke to some incredible people out there,

  • and got some incredible insights.

  • And today, I spoke with a trader in Covent Garden,

  • and his name was Kim.

  • And he sells T-shirts on the southern side

  • of the Covent Garden, where all the performers are there.

  • And I went up to him and I started chatting with him

  • and, I said, "How's business?"

  • And he said, "You know, it's horrible."

  • He said, "But I gotta be open, I've gotta try."

  • And I said, "What's selling the best?"

  • And he said, "Actually, the TikTok T-shirt

  • "is what's selling the best."

  • I was like, "The TikTok T-shirt?"

  • He said, "I know it's crazy,

  • "but that's what's actually selling."

  • And I said, "What do we need to do

  • "to get London back to work?"

  • And he said, "Brian, there's no one here."

  • He said, "I don't understand, there's no one here."

  • He said, "Our current mayor is not encouraging people

  • "to come into London.

  • "He's not encouraging people to get back to work.

  • "He's not encouraging theatres to open up again."

  • And he said, 'Without that, like, I'm dying here.

  • "My business is gonna die.

  • "My family is going to be out."

  • He said, "This is really critical times.

  • And he said, "I don't understand why he doesn't support us."

  • He said, "All he wants to do is locked down this city

  • "even more."

  • And I said, "Yeah, I'm frustrated with the same thing.

  • "It seems like he has some other agenda

  • "or he just can't see that his job is to serve

  • "the citizens of London.

  • "And they don't want to be locked down,

  • "especially when the science doesn't dictate it.

  • "And to say that it's inevitable again

  • "is almost like you're predicting the future,

  • "and you're not letting science decide

  • "when we need to do something."

  • And I said,

  • "Kim, I think what he's trying to do is stay relevant

  • "because this is the only thing he can talk about

  • "to where people actually can hear his name

  • "and see who he is."

  • And he said, "Brian," he said, "It's not about him."

  • He said, "His job is to serve the 9 million citizens

  • "of London."

  • And I really wanna appreciate Kim

  • for really making that point to me.

  • Kim was born here in the UK,

  • but his family's from Turkey.

  • And, it really hit home when he said that.

  • And it's so true.

  • The Mayor of London's job is to serve.

  • It's to serve the citizens of this great city,

  • and to do everything you can do humanly possible

  • from the Met police to the transportation services

  • to getting London back to work, to our education system,

  • to keeping us safe, to promoting tourism,

  • to promoting our reputation around the world.

  • That's the job of the Mayor of London.

  • The Mayor of London's job is not to get reelected.

  • It's not to try to become prime minister.

  • It's not to shout about things to keep you in the news.

  • Your job is to serve the citizens here, period.

  • And it's frustrating when that's not happening.

  • And so that's why my job is to do exactly that.

  • It's to try to listen to as many points of view

  • and try to make the best decisions

  • in service of the citizens here in this great city

  • that I love, that I've called my home for 20 years.

  • And so, I just wanna appreciate that man today.

  • And I spoke to so many people.

  • I spoke to a woman on Westminster Bridge

  • who had a bunch of thoughts as well

  • about how the city can get back on track.

  • I met people throughout that know me from London Real,

  • and that have known that I've announced for mayor

  • and these things.

  • And so, it's really important to me

  • that I get out and speak to the people.

  • And so every week I will be out and about.

  • I mean every day I get stopped by people.

  • But every week, I'll literally be going

  • to different boroughs,

  • and speaking with the people and finding out

  • as your next Mayor of London, how can I serve you better?

  • And that will be my job.

  • And I will be working tirelessly 24 seven

  • to find better ways to serve this city.

  • And that is my plan.

  • And so let me start now, and I wanna ask you questions.

  • And leave me answers below in the comments and tell me,

  • how can I serve you?

  • That's really what I wanna know.

  • Please tell me in the comments below,

  • how can I make this city better?

  • How can I serve you?

  • How can I get London back to work?

  • How can I put education first?

  • How can I make London green?

  • How can I make London safe?

  • How can I make London more digital?

  • This is the king things that I wanna do.

  • And this is what I am gonna dedicate my life to do

  • as your next Mayor of London.

  • So again, I hope this helped.

  • Please leave your comments below.

  • Please share this video if it resonated with you.

  • But if it's not obvious,

  • I'm very serious about being your next mayor.

  • You can learn more about my policies

  • in my announcement video.

  • It's brianformayor.london.

  • And in seven months time,

  • I plan to spend the next three years of my life serving you.

  • And I look forward to do it.

  • The funny thing is,

  • this is the worst time for this to happen for me

  • because London Real is booming.

  • And it's super important

  • that we're putting out these censorship free content.

  • I teach an Academy that's graduated over 5,000 students.

  • We make documentary films.

  • We have great charities we contribute to.

  • This is probably the worst time.

  • But I feel that I'm being called

  • to go ahead and be in this role.

  • I feel that I must do this.

  • I don't have a choice,

  • and everything else is gonna go on hold.

  • My business is gonna go on hold, my plans,

  • my dreams are going on hold,

  • so I can serve this city

  • and give back to this great city in this great country

  • that has given me so much.

  • You know, 20 years of my life I've spent here,

  • my kids were born here.

  • I'm gonna be buried in this city.

  • I love it so much.

  • And, I can't wait to get in there

  • and do the job and make you all proud

  • to be citizens of this city

  • and make all of you around the world to look to London

  • and say, "Man, those guys really got it right.

  • "They are leading from the front.

  • "They're making hard decisions

  • "and they're getting those results."

  • And that's what I promise you that I'm gonna do

  • when I'm elected mayor of the city

  • and I'm super excited for the challenge,

  • and I'm super excited to take everything

  • in my last 49 years of my life

  • and put it into this job,

  • from my business skills, to my entrepreneurial skills,

  • to my experience in finance,

  • to my experience on London Real.

  • Nine years, I've been on London Real.

  • I've spoken to a thousand people

  • and I've gotten some of the greatest ideas,

  • the greatest concepts,

  • the greatest intellectual property that I want to fold in

  • to this incredible city and do my part

  • like so many people have before me.

  • So, those were my thoughts tonight.

  • This is just something that kinda,

  • I just kinda pulled out my phone

  • and wanted to talk to you about.

  • But again leave your comments below.

  • Go to the website if you wanna learn more

  • about our campaign and how you can help as well.

  • And that's it.

  • Tomorrow, I'll be up early, and I'll be back out there,

  • finding ways that I can be of service,

  • finding ways I can listen to you

  • and finding ways I can make London,

  • you know, great again.

  • Return this city to its status of world-class once again,

  • 'cause we're not there,

  • and, this current crop of politicians

  • is driving the city in the ground

  • and I cannot stop stand by and watch it happen.

  • So, there you go.

  • I hope you're having a great evening wherever you are.

  • I love you, and more of this to come.

  • Alright, peace.
