- So, a lot of people have been asking me questions
-
and sending me messages and saying, Brian,
-
why are you spending so much time
-
talking about how to get London back to work?
-
Why are you out there in the field
-
meeting with entrepreneurs and business leaders
-
and people in the theatre and the arts and the culture,
-
why are you doing this?
-
And it's because I can't stand by and watch this city
-
be run into the ground by our current leaders.
-
It pains me to watch it and I won't sit around
-
and watch it happen
-
because we are suffering from three things,
-
a complete lack of leadership,
-
a total disproportionate response to this virus,
-
and a complete lack of science based decision making.
-
And on Friday,
-
I was speaking with John Morgan
-
who runs the Theatres Trust here in London.
-
It's a $2.9 billion industry,
-
the culture industry in the UK, 290,000 jobs,
-
and yet they can't go back to work
-
because there is no science based decision making
-
to allow them to put on these performances,
-
that'll boost the economy, really frustrating.
-
Speaking to entrepreneurs and business leaders
-
who can't get out to our sitting,
-
who can't get real answers from our government,
-
which is just trying to lock us down and shut us down
-
in a way where I don't see the science, I don't.
-
I see them protecting themselves
-
for previous poor decision making
-
and protecting themselves from poor performance
-
on track and trace and all that,
-
but I don't see any intelligent decisions being made.
-
And no one is talking about the economy,
-
which is the lifeblood of any city,
-
it's why any of us are here.
-
And it's the only thing that guarantees
-
the longterm potential of London.
-
And you've gotta let these entrepreneurs
-
and these businesses get back to work,
-
you gotta let these people in these offices
-
come back to work, and you've gotta let these people
-
find solutions to these problems.
-
Over the weekend, I was watching the UFC,
-
the Ultimate Fighting Championship,
-
and I watched how one incredible entrepreneur
-
named Dana White decided
-
that he wouldn't wait for the government
-
to give him the regulations, to give him the approval.
-
He would find a way to move his business forward
-
and provide this incredible entertainment to the world.
-
And he did, he did.
-
And he did it through all the protocols and all the science,
-
he is leading the fields.
-
And I firmly believe if you let entrepreneurs do this,
-
they will lead with the proper science
-
to get us safely back to work.
-
And yet they're completely being hamstrung
-
and handcuffed by the government
-
by not allowing them to do that.
-
And it's frustrating to me.
-
And I just see this going one way,
-
more announcements coming now
-
that there's gonna be more constraints
-
on social distancing and even socialising.
-
And this looks like it's just going one way,
-
which is not the right way.
-
And I see people's livelihoods,
-
people's businesses, all the creativity, the culture,
-
the entrepreneurship of this city going down the tubes.
-
And it pains me to watch it
-
because I don't know how we come back from this,
-
or we could all step up and find a way to lead
-
and find a way to find solutions.
-
And we could lead the world in solutions
-
when it comes to our business, our transport, our medicine,
-
the way we look at this on a science based way,
-
and some real leaders that get out in front
-
and say, guess what?
-
Let's find ways to get this city back to work,
-
let's find safe solutions,
-
let's find a proportionate response
-
to the danger of the virus.
-
I'm seeing none of that.
-
None of that from our leaders here,
-
and it's frustrating to me.
-
So look, let me know what you think below.
-
Maybe you agree with me, maybe you disagree.
-
Please tell me, is there a lack of leadership?
-
Have we seen a disproportionate response to this virus?
-
I just posted some figures on my Instagram.
-
And finally, do you think we need
-
science based decision making
-
for everything we do here,
-
from our socialisation to our business, to our policies,
-
to even our health care.
-
Please leave me your comments below,
-
whatever city you're in,
-
because this is affecting everything.
-
What happens to London
-
could potentially happened to the rest of the world
-
and vice versa, we're all in this together.
-
I'm looking for the best ideas,
-
but I'm getting frustrated and I'm seeing our leaders
-
go the opposite way.
-
And enough is enough.
-
We've gotta come together and tell them
-
that we do not agree with their decisions,
-
we do not accept them, and we've gotta move on.
-
So thank you very much, I appreciate you.
-
And please leave your comments below.
-
All right, take care, bye.
